abuse continues after escape

i asked for the keys back. "yeah and i want off the lease" (landlord says if he comes off the lease i have to reapply for the apartment, and no gaurentees. my credit is shot now, and i have no regular job"income") ive been paying the rent just fine, theres no need to change anything.

i said so you want us to go to a shelter? and hes said no, your just castastrophising

and the whole time hes glaring at me while picking up the kids. im tempted to go the shelter route and charge him with whatever i can.

All day he has been sending emails arguing over parenting time, (he always wants less, and at his convenience) meanwhile acting outraged over me trying for full custody and decision making rights. He also wants right of first refusal, for some reason. currently hes at 20% parenting time, and thats after heavy encouragement.

And through all this, ive been accepted into nursing school! My lifelong dream. Everything is ridiculous. I wanted to go to nursing a few years ago, but he wouldnt let me "A good mom wouldnt take care of other people rather than her own kids" I wanted to provide stable income for our family (his job is never stable). And now im doing it anyways to provide a stable income for our family lol. I dont know how i will do it though, i have no family, and no help. But will probably get a teenager to help and cobble together babysitters.

Also I dont know what to do about the kids seeing him. he calls them names "shutup, your too sensitive, you get the crazy from your mom" he has violent verbal fights with his dad in front of the kids "dad swears at people when hes mad, why cant i?" he mutters curses under his breath at people.

Backstory: 3 kids, emotionally abusive commonlaw relationship of 10 plus years. i left him 8 months ago.

Good things: i have my own apartment, i can just barely afford everything on my own, we are healing. WE ARE FREE.

bad things: the kids need to see their dad, he is making things difficult, i have to heal while juggling everything and kids watching.

Sorry if this is jumbled, im still reeling from the enormous weight of it all. I think i will still do nursing school, even if its hard. whats another hard thing?

Uplifting book after abuse and divorce

Anyone have any suggestions for inspiring reads after the end of an abusive marriage, with 3 kids and starting nursing school soon? Any books have all 3? I usually read sci fi, dystopian, or literature but thought this would be a better fit for the moment.

My favorite books/ authors: anything by Atwood, Steinbeck, Red Rising, Dune, The Expanse, Orwell, Count of Monte Cristo, Catch 22, Vonnegut.
