For the second time, my media folder was deleted from my Android phone without any reason or warning. I discovered it days later. The first time, I stopped backing up to Google so that a backup wouldn't be uploaded without the media.

When the media folder disappeared again for no apparent reason, and I discovered the deletion five days later (the last backup was two months old), I used another Android phone and restored the backup. I transferred the media folder from it to the old phone and re-established my account on the same phone to retrieve the media from an account that's over 12 years old. I'll eventually change phones, but I still don't know why the folder was deleted.
