The rapid regression and unmasking hasn't gone unnoticed by Swifties. You can actively witness them coping, changing their narrative and moving the goalposts to defend her. I feel like they don't want to look stupid - and who does? That's fair. But they've fallen into the sunk cost fallacy

If you're this deep into a cult and you notice the cracks, is it not easier to pretend the thing you've been fiercly defending for decades is actually still just as good? If not better? Because if it turns out it's been godawful this whole time, you literally look like a moron

Obviously I am now mainly referring to how they were coping with TS12 and how they're dealing with this wedding now. It's unreal.

Do you remember how intensly they coped with TS12? How they kept inventing things out of thin air to justify how bad it was. It's performance art! I am a Livie. Just straight up, I love her music. I was excited for this album initially (still am) and I lost my mind when drop dead came out. I loved it soo much and I thought this looked super promising for the album

Now, the more songs come out and the more she talks about it, the more uncertain I get and the more I feel like I might be underwhelmed this friday. She said drop dead was the happiest song on the album, which is strike 1. Her sad girl ballads kinda always fall flat for me.

The lyricism never hits and the songs are sometimes boring. Sorry! The Cure is good enough, but if this is one of her favourite songs she's ever written (which is what she said. she said it's the best one on the album) this rings alarm bells in my head. I wasn't the biggest fan of begged either. The themes have all been explored before. It feels repetitive

She said begged was representative of the album. I'm so glad she said this because it tempered my expectations. Now I know there's probably not going to be a euphoric or cathartic song on the album, the way drop dead and all american bitch and vampire and love is embarassing were. No pop-rock

And if there is, then it's a nice surprise! It's just what I took for granted given her usual sound, and the way she talks about this album is that it's mostly slower bittersweet love ballads

I also notice her fixation with vocals over substance so far. I love talented singers and incredible vocals, and it's great that she loves this as well and has worked so hard to now be much better at singing than when she started out. Begged sounds ethereal. She sounds beautiful. But it feels like she prioritised this over deeper lyricism and better themes. Of course the album isn't out yet, but you usually get your star songs and your stunners out before the album release to generate hype. And if all the pre-releases are her chosen Best Of The Album, it's only fair to assume there's not going to be more than like one hidden gem on this album. I'm just not very optimistic, partly because of the actual content and what she said and also partly due to intuition (which olivia herself has nothing to do with)

Little disclaimer It's just music at the end of the day obviously and it's not that deep, just in case I get any "If you don't like it, don't listen 😒" comments. I don't have to like every song anyone releases, a bad album isn't the end of the world, etc. Spare your voice if this is what you want to say. I'm just sharing thoughts. First time poster so I'm not sure if people here are like that, they certainly are in fan spaces, so I hope this place lives up to its name (looks to be the case!)

I do think there is value in duets and collabs, many of them are beautiful and vital to music history. But they're being done totally wrong. They should be tacked on as a bonus or released as a seperate single. Albums need to stay pure and clean, make a new version to have the artist hop on! I want to be able to hear just you if I want to. What if I think their voice is unlistenable? There are many songs that interrupt the flow on a record because they have a feature on them. I really hate how normalised this has become. It is NOT that hard to make a solo version available...

I'm not only an albums purist, I'm a songs purist too. No song with a feature should exist without a solo version to go with it. Simple as. I should have the option to listen to the person/band I came here specifically to listen to, not whoever they think complements the song (It's a 50/50 on whether I think they do, which is why they should play it safe)

This is not a toy story song. It feels like a debut scrap. All it does confirm to me is that she is planning to release her last Taylor's Version on the 20th anniversary, so expect an announcement in like a couple months. I'm thinking early August, earlier if she wants to milk it and do pre-releases and more variants. I will say if the production on this is any indication, then debut tv production will be trash

The actual song itself is just a taylor swift song. The same exact type of "writing" she likes, which is to say boring, overdone and eyeroll inducing. She sounds much better than she did on TS12, which isn't saying much but is the biggest compliment I have

It's perfectly pleasant inoffensive bland slop. Also the most obvious oscarbait slop ever, and I would really hope no one sees this as oscar worthy. Would it be eligible for a grammy possibly?

It's just not oscar material in any capacity and I hope she embarasses herself once again. If she does an oscar campaign it'll be a humiliation ritual...She is truly so delusional if she thinks this will even be nominated. So many great soundtracks have been and will be released this year, and the spots are scarce and exclusive. No shot. "Hollywood hates me" and it will continue to!!! She's not even going to get a nomination and I WILL see the harvest
