Single member LLC, but my arborist insurance is only for me and does not cover the company (per insurance agent’s suggestion to save money). Should I register a DBA?

I have a forestry LLC, so I sell timber for landowners and work with loggers. I also love doing arborist work on the side, so I want to buy insurance for that.

The agent told me to buy the policy for myself instead of the LLC as they would likely cancel the policy because it’s a forestry company not an arborist company. The insurance is very specific about only covering certain things and types of work. It makes sense, and I’m appreciative of the agent for explaining that to me.

My question is this: should I register a DBA to insure with the arborist-specific insurance, that way the profits can still go to the LLC account and keep the insurance company happy?

Anybody ever cut Kevlar soft armor? I’ve got a design in mind if it’s possible

I have some IOTV shoulder protectors I want to trim into some more usable groin armor flaps. If the Kevlar could be trimmed and resealed and maintain its 9mm level of protection I’d be happy. Has anybody ever tried cutting soft armor panels?

They’re just too wide for my hips right now even if I wear it with a fanny pack strap instead of hanging from the plate carrier. It wouldn’t reach all the way down but a little protection over my lower stomach area would be great.

For the “don’t mod armor” crowd, I currently have zero armor under my front plate. So even compromised armor under that would be an overall improvement for me. There’s probably a reason I’m asking if I can make it myself instead of buying lol as my biggest threat is 9mm here

How does the forend length of the Hogue overmold stock compare to the standard wood with barrel band? I want to SBR my 10” Charger.

I’m doing a Form 1 for my 10” 10/22 Charger. It would fit perfect in the standard wood stock with a trim at the barrel band (I want only a tiny bit of barrel sticking out to thread my can on). How does the length of the Hogue overmold stock compare to the standard wood stock up front? I can’t find a measurement from magazine or a picture with both stocks side by side.

Are the Ridgid reciprocating saws good? I need one ASAP

Got a job I need a reciprocating saw for. How have the Ridgid ones held up for you guys? Not sure if they make both, but I’m fine with a corded one rather than battery, I just need a good quality that’ll last.

BX trigger reset is really weak/mushy. Any suggestions on fixing that?

Feels great to the break and is a good upgrade over standard, but the reset really sucks. Are there some easy fixes out there for this? It feels almost completely dead on the reset

Tore down this POS 120 to snag the engine for a project. How can I get the plastic off the bottom crank case half? It seems to be heat set in place. Saw operation did not met it into place the factory did. 2 pics attached

Tool registration site doesn’t work for me. Anyone else?

I’ve had an ongoing issue for months. The site takes all my info typing in all the numbers then it says there was an unknown error and wipes it all with no luck. I’ve tried customer service but I haven’t gotten anywhere yet. Anybody else have this happen to them?

Any small business foresters in GA mind sharing some advice regarding LLC, business licenses, insurance, etc?

I just started my LLC for some occasional weekend work and I’m still in the process of getting my CF and RF. Right now I just intend on doing habitat restoration, burning, rural property maintenance, contract cruising, you know the basics.

My hang up is all the paperwork BS to make sure the state doesn’t kill me over not getting the right business licenses or whatever. Can anybody in Georgia spare some tips on what I need to do to satisfy the legal side of things?

For example, I will work across multiple counties so I’m assuming I just get a business license for where my office is? And what insurance companies do you like for basic errors and omissions, general liability for working on someone’s property, and prescribed burning coverage?

F1 took 66 days. Unrelated, does Sub Zero Supply Co always take a week or more to ship?

I know it’s around a holiday, so I don’t mean to complain too much. Just asking for others’ experience since it did say it was in stock.

Also love that the GayTF accepted the total bullshit I put on the form. “Idk I haven’t fkn made it yet” and “wouldn’t you like to know” and a big Getty Images watermark over some generic metal pipe image. That’s right little piggy, sign my form like the good little slave you are.

About 6 hours of runtime on this CS-355T and I’m very happy with it so far. I need some air intake upgrade suggestions though please

Echo CS-355T with Egan Performance Saws pipe and dogs. The bottom dog is a bit much in the air, I may trim it off ($10 for the dogs I don’t mind experimenting). They were made for the 2511 which must mount them a touch higher.

Great saw so far tho. I just need some suggestions on opening up the air filter housing to flow better. Not porting this saw for now, I’m not that high speed yet to need it.

Question for the ISA Certified Arborists. Do we have a certain stamp design that works good for official stuff we sign? I consult for surveyors and need a stamp.

Title says it all. I need to order a stamp with my name, number, and some logo. I know ISA has branding and usage guidelines. I’d like to see if any other ISA CAs have a stamp for this use I can borrow the design of.

Need a cheap insurance company recommendation. LLC in GA

I just do tree work on the side for people I know. I need insurance to work for friends of friends. I’m an ISA Certified Arborist if it helps. No employees or hired contractors, I only take jobs I can do myself in a weekend. I’m not even a tree work company but it’s an easy way to make money for the LLC while getting everything else set up for the company’s actual purpose.

What insurance companies do you guys like for small low-budget outfits?

Buying a Stihl 661. Should I get the C-M or the Magnum?

I work at sea level up to 2000’ elevation. I also mill some pine logs. Idk the difference and don’t have the experience on these saws to understand the difference in carb systems just need a pro to tell me which to avoid.

Looking for recommendations on burning lasers. I want a very far out but adjustable focal point to be able to burn at a longer distance. Any suggestions on models to look at?

I’d like to burn some pests from a safe distance. Wasps nests and whatnot. Also lasers are just fun and I want to burn stuff at a distance at home. What handheld units do you guys like in the couple hundred dollar range?

Edit: and before I get reprimanded on safety, I’m looking at styropyro videos and comments for suggestions on the best safety goggles to get

I'm starting an LLC soon, but need to buy a tool immediately while it's still available. Can I still deduct them if I purchase them for the company before I get it officially launched?

I'm starting a land management company in the next month. But I have a tool I need to buy before I get a chance to file all the paperwork to properly register the LLC. Are these still eligible for deductions since I need them for the business? I just need to grab it while they're still available.

Replacement on Rock Auto: Metra 71-6523

I had cut the factory harness years ago. The original connector is pictured here. I replaced that big connector earlier today. Here are my notes in case it’ll help someone down the road.

I have the base model truck with zero options hence the empty or marked out wires. I also got tired of writing color combos so just count which wire goes to which pin by hand.

It’s not hard but let me know if you have any questions on the radio wiring
