Will mosquito dunks help my yard, if there is a large pond 100 feet away?

I moved to a house that backs up to an approximately 35k sqft pond. There is a fountain in the middle of the pond but the edges so appear to have a decent amount of vegetation growth (if that makes any difference for mosquito population)

If I were to make some mosquito kill buckets for my yard, am I just wasting my time, with the pond being so close? Its not my pond, so im not willing to start throwing mosquito dunks into it, even if they are safe for wildlife. I will do buckets in my yard, since I already have some buckets anyway.

But im just wondering if this will be a fools errand with that pond so close.

What pre work is needed for fence installation.

Im a new home owner and need to have a fence built but im getting confused on what I need to do before hiring a fence company. I have the approval from my HOA, but when I went to some fence contractor websites, it mentions that I am responsible marking property lines and utilities.

So now im confused on who to call, and when.

If I call 411 to have my yard marked for burried lines, does that need to happen close to the time that the fence company does the installation, so the lines dont get mowed away?

Do I need to have someone survey my land to mark my property line? I saw a Lexington government site that shows my property on a map, but there's no measurements on it to actually determine where exactly the line would be on the ground. Is there something I can get from Lexington that shows that, or do I need to hire a surveyor to do that?

I've seen things that mention a survey should have been done before closing. I dont know if that applies to KY but I dont see any documents in my binder with measured property lines. The only thing I see is a similar image with the outline of my property on a map, but nothing with actual measurement to show where that outline would be on the earth.

Anyone who has had a fence installed, where did you start?

Can overheating be a sign of a dy8ng AVR, if its in a well vented area.

I have a pioneer vsx 824 that I bought new in 2014. It has been used basically every day since then for movies, tv, music and gaming. All media in our house runs through this.

Just last night, it started over heating and shutting down. Its never been in an enclosed space, and it doesn't appear to be dusty. Is this area vented well enough? Could this just be signs of the unit finally wearing out after over 12 years of regular usage. At least 4 hours a day, and duing the summer it might be on for 10 or more since my wife is a teacher who is at home during that time, watching TV or listening to music in the background.

Unable to access w365 Flex from windows app, but w365 enterprise works.

My company is migrating from w365 enterprise licenses to w365 flex. For most users its been fine, but there are some vendors we provide cloud pcs too and something on their host pc seems like its blocking access to the w365 flex cloud pc, via the windows app. They can access the flex from a browser just fine. And they can access the enterprise cloud pc from app and browser.

We also installed the windows app on their enterprise cloud pc and was able to successfully connect to the flex cloud pc from the app. So that makes me think the issue is some network traffic thats being blocked from their own host pc.

Its just odd to me that they are able to access the enterprise cloud pc, but not the flex, from windows app. They have refreshed, checked for updates and relogged into the windows app.

I know flex devices request a license upon connecting, so could that be getting blocked? I cant find firewall rules that are specific to w365 Flex, so I dont know if they have any additional requirements.

Taco Bus salsa verde copycat recipe?

I lived in Tampa for a couple years back in 2009. I went to the taco bus on Hillsborough Ave quite often and could almost drink the salsa verde from the squeeze bottles. Its been so long since I've been down there and I dont remember the exact taste, but is there any copycat recipe that anyone knows of? Or is it just a pretty bog standard salsa verde recipe? I just started craving it and might take a stab at making some at home.

My SO and myself are house hunting. We are meeting (possibly slightly exceeding) our retirement goals currently and have also saved additionally for a down payment towards our next house. With the sell of our current house and the money we've saved separately, we were planning for about a 55% down payment on the next house. That would give us a monthly mortgage that fits into our budget.

My SO had a relative pass away who left them a rather large inheritance of dividend stocks.

We are trying to come up with a game plan. I've read the windfall section of this sub and I dont know if we are making a hasty decision. The windfall section mentions to not rush out and buy a brand new car or a new house, but what if we were already in that process anyway? I think we are coming to the decision to sell the stocks and put it towards an even larger down payment but im nervous that were making a bad move. I dont know if im looking at it from the "well, my situation is different so the suggestions dont apply this time" perspective.

Kind of unrelated, but i can not seem to wrap my head around dividend stocks. I dont want that to be the focus of this thread but if there is some ELI5 videos or articles, I would appreciate them. I read that dividend stocks aren't magic free money, but when some of these stocks have been around for decades and are still paying dividends, it does kinda feel like its magic free money since you get paid without selling shares. VS selling shares of my mutual funds in retirement and eventually running out of shares.

Anyway, thanks for any advise on what you would do with inherited stocks, if you were already planning to buy a house before the stocks came into the picture.

I have a family member that passed and left me a sizeable amount of stock in a single company. I don't know if I want to sell it yet and reinvest in something more diverse (I likely will), but if I do that, im struggling to understanding my tax liability.

I know the investments will come to me at a step up cost basis, at the time of the family members death. If I sell as soon as I can, I would only pay gains on that new step up cost basis number, correct? And they would be calculated as LTCG by default even if i didnt hold it for more than a year? That is my understanding from what I've read from fidelity's site.

But another question im really struggling with is, will the sell of those stocks affect my normal income tax for the year? Its hard for me to believe that if I sell it all at once as soon as I get it, that I could get a large amount of money without the IRS coming for their cut.

Thanks!

I dont normally do much cooking with large amounts of oil but lately I've been wanting to try making some hot chili oil and some crispy mala beef. Both dishes turned out well but im not sure what to do with the left over oil. I know you can strain deep fryer oil and store it for a while. But since I've infused the oil with onion and garlic, does that change anything? And could I have killed 2 brids with one stone if I had cooked the mala beef before making the hot chili oil?

Questions:

Does infused oil store the same way as non infused oil? I guess all deep fryer oil gets infused each time its used so Im guessing the answer is yes.

For my hot chili oil recipe, could I have used the same oil that was used to fry my beef for the mala beef dish? After frying the beef, most of the oil is poured out before adding any additional spices to finish the dish. The Oil for the mala beef and hot chili oil both start with the same aromatics. But im curious if using oil that had beef fried in it, would do anything bad for the hot chili oil (flavor or shelf life).

Thanks!
