Recommend titles for a 2010 MacBook Air (2GB RAM, Core2Duo, GeForce 320M)

I've upgraded but wanted to see if I could repurpose this laptop. The 2GB DDR3 RAM will be the most limiting factor, I think. The Core 2 Duo is 1.86 GHz. Graphics card has 256MB VRAM.

I think the original disc release of Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 will work well and it's cheap on eBay. The original Shadowgrounds should run well, too. Just some examples.

EDIT will add confirmed games list below. It's a great way to use old MacBooks. You want the original (often 32-bit) releases of the games. Ironically, the opposite of what most Mac users are looking for nowadays.

  • Roller Coaster Tycoon 3
  • BioShock
  • System Shock 2 (not smooth)
  • Trine 1

If you played the N64 Dōbutsu no Mori on release, did you deem it an instant classic?

Like many felt with Mario 64 or OoT, for example. New Horizons was my intro to the series, but it didn't hit with me like the original.

My shower screen after 7 days of soaking

I soaked alternating in Cafiza, Barkeepers Friend, and citric acid, with some scrubbing with a stiff plastic brush in between. Maybe I could've gone further, but I was okay with it after 7 days. I have some pics after 3 days to show how it looked like half way through. My biggest issue is I don't pull espresso as much (three times a month on average, but in reality it's in spurts throughout the year). However, I use the steam wand almost daily. I would switch to manual if it wasn't for the simplicity of Gaggiuino. Anyway, unless I backflush with Cafiza after every session, I get lots of build up. I'm going to try and use the machine more just so descaling/cleaning isn't so hard next time.

What material is this shower screen holder plate?

I honestly cant remember if I ever replaced it or not. It doesn't look shiny like brass to me, nor is it stainless steel. Could it be aluminum? I soaked it a for an hour in cafiza and then 15 minutes in descaling solution. Maybe I ruined the finish. It smells like a copper penny. I tried looking up what the stock OEM plate looks like, but I just keep getting results for brass or stainless steel.

Vitamix 5200 whistles when winding down after blade replacement

I ordered the official blade removal tool and blade assembly. Installation was super easy, just 2 minutes. However, at the end of a blend, when the blender is winding down, I hear a whistling sound. It's noticeable but doesn't seem to affect performance in any way. Has anyone else experienced this? Will it go away (I've used it 5 times so far)? Is it possible I overtightened?

FYI: cost was $95 delivered from KaTom. Blade assembly number was 104675. If you have the wide container it's 105733, but unfortunately Vitamix doesn't sell those. (You can buy third party ones off Amazon, though.)

What brand milk powder do you use?

I've been using Great Value brand from Wal-Mart. It doesn't have a good flavor, like over steamed milk. I found out today, because last night I forgot to add milk powder to my base and todaymy ice cream had a much better flavor. I heat my base to 170F. I'm only testing making vanilla right now, making small tweaks to my base with each version.

Why does pre-made mix not aerate in the blender?

For homemade bases with 50/50 cream/milk, if I run it through a blender, say to mix in cocoa powder before churning, the cream will start to whip. However, commercial mixes (14% butterfat) don't seem to have this issue for me. Is there something in their formulation that prevents commercial mixes from whipping in a blender?

EDIT: edited for clarity.

The general rule in my region is that adding a dairy product before churning will require repasteurization. But the exact details can be hard to nail down. Just curious about others' experiences. Adding pasteurized egg yolks (for French vanilla) has also been a difficult one to get a "right" answer to, so I am avoiding it right now. (Also avoiding dulce de leche for now.)

I couldnt get this one to activate until 185F. I was reading some people say theirs activates at 145F. Can the brand make such a huge difference?

Is this subreddit geared more toward ice cream making at home? I don't see many recipes for commercial production. Are there other forums/discords for commercial ice cream makers out there? I've seen Scoop School on YouTube offer a subscription for their community. Is that a better forum for these purposes? Or are people generally somewhat reluctant to share too much of their "proprietary" business information, if you will. Curious about your thoughts. Maybe I have it wrong and just haven't been around here long enough.

You can find it at Costco and other places at better prices than the dealer.

Not sure if that varies based on region. Hope someone finds this helpful.
