How lucky am I. Pink smithsonite from Mexico.

Reposting because the automod removed it the first time because I had a question mark. 😅

Video in comments.

This sucker is heavy, but the color is so pretty. It's a bit more lavender in person. 99% certain its from Choix, Mexico.

This is my first piece of smithsonite. It might not be the highest quality, but I got it for less than an arm and a leg and I love it. Considering I've only seen small pieces for sale, I feel pretty lucky!

Bunches of Opals pt. 7? - Mexican fire opal??

Doesn't really look like anything I can find online but I'm a super noob so maybe I'm just not looking with the right terms.

Anyways, it's not that impressive on the front side but you can see some poc within. However in the spots where the top layer has broken, you can see that the next layer is extremely colorful and flashy, and that the orange layer also has some fire in it. There are 3 solid layers though they look crack maybe between them.

Getting it wet makes some of the poc disappear and some flashes appear in places where it wasn't previously. I definitely think this one absorbs water, at least in the sense that it dries out really really fast.

I'd love any additional info you can give me on it. Alternatively, please just tell me my baby is pretty. 😂

My freaky geometric agate sphere

Freaky in the best way, lol. Quartz psuedomorph after barite. Not pink amethyst, just hematite stained drusy.

One of my faves! Weird, isn't it? 😅

Ice-clear Selenite Gypsum

Gypsum var. Selenite from Naica mine, Chihuahua, Mexico.

Very fragile, scratches with a nail, and high humidity can damage it. 😭 But it's possibly the most beautiful selenite I've ever seen! What do you think?

The weirdest moss agate I've seen.

Any idea on where it comes from?

Its hard to see in pics but the green hairs are the finest ive seen, literally like lint almost. The white spots are like little 3d white confetti. The weird thing is the white flecks make little chains along the green hairs. The drusy spots are outlined in green hair and solid white.

Its just strange and I haven't seen this type before. Id love any info on it!

More pics in comments.

A Single Large Crystal of Siderite (Flash Warning)

Siderite is not something that's usually talked about in "what should I get next" posts or anything like that, but I saw this specimen and had to have it.

Siderite is very iron heavy and is usually used as ore for that. It comes from a few localities (I'm not sure where this one is from - trying to find out) and is usually dark red, green, yellow, brown, or black.

This specific specimen has some striations on the side and some iridescence. I wouldn't say siderite is usually impressive but I'm impressed by this one. 😅

My Dumortierite Quartz Bracelet

Yes the beads are small. 😅 I don't care, I feel pretty lucky that I could find anything at all in this rare crystal at a reasonable price.

I love looking at it in the sunlight. Look at the little blue needles!!

Do you have any dumortierite? What's your favorite crystal bracelet?

Cats-eye Kunzite

My newest addition!

Its kind of lavender on one side and pink on the other. I have no idea of how good the quality is or isn't, but I think its just beautiful. Its so pink when a light shines through it, and the chatoyance is intense!

Lavender Larimar Bracelet

I wasn't aware it existed either. Internet searches dont bring up much.

I thought maybe it could be glass or a good resin fake from the pictures, but it has no bubbles and is chatoyant in many places. Doesn't look dyed either.

Is it still larimar if its not the classic blue, or is it just purple pectolite?

I'm stumped but absolutely in love!

Is this *actual* peach tiger's eye, or something else?

I put the bracelet there so you can see the difference between normal tiger's eye and this little slice.

The video makes it look more orangey than it is. Its a pretty light pastel peach. I have a couple of photos I can add in the comments that more accurately reflect the color.

Is it treated? I've never seen any tigers eye like this. Why isn't there more of it?

Any insights you guys have are appreciated. :)

Do you think it's possible this pendant is real phosphosiderite?

Seller wasn't sure but said it was likely phosphosiderite. However if it is, it's one of the highest quality pieces of it I've seen!

The pendant feels heavy and cold. Its soft and easily scratchable. Some light does shine through it, and you can see a bit of internal cloudiness. All these things lead me to believe it's natural, but the color is so saturated and uniform that I'm not sure. There also seems to be carving marks around the outside. I'm not sure that's typical for jewelry or if that would indicate it's some kind of fake stone.

I understand phosphosiderite is not really that rare or special, I just like it because it's purple. ☺️ Would anyone even try faking it? I don't know.

I took a picture of it next to a bracelet that I am 99% sure is real, natural phosphosiderite, and they do look pretty similar.

I just want to know what you guys think. I'm more interested in it as a possibly high quality specimen than a piece of jewelry, because I think wearing it would damage it.

Thanks in advance!

Is it just wishful thinking that I don't think this beautiful purple moon is dyed?

Got it as a gift so no idea of the location or type. It does have a lot of natural cracks, some darker and some invisible. It just doesn't look like other dyed pieces I've seen, or at least, not obviously so. What do you guys think?

I love it either way, just curious. Mostly because if it's not dyed, I'd love to try to find out the type/location for those colors. TIA.

Hi guys. This was posted as labradorite by the seller but doesn't really look like it to me. I'm knowledgeable about a lot of rock and crystal types/names but I wanted this one because I'm stumped (and it looks cool!)

The camera washes it out a lot. Its a reddish-brown matrix with milky orange/yellow/blue! translucent crystals.

Anyone have a lead for me? 😊 Thanks in advance!

I keep hearing that I should/need to join a support group, but honestly, it feels like another chore at this point. Another time when I'll need to find coverage. Unless you think it's worth it?

I think the main idea is to find out about resources and emotional support, both I think I can get here as long as I keep up with posts (which I cant help but do, learning/reading about dementia is my hobby, which has taken the place of all other hobbies).

But if you've joined one for either Alz or general dementia and found it useful, can you let me know why?

Thanks so much.
