first sub-30 5k this morning.
ran my first 5k ever like 2 weeks ago. then started running them 3x a week at a conversational pace. this morning decided to see what time an all-out 5k would be. feeling pretty good for a 47yo who had not even ran a mile 9 weeks ago.

please send a comment to the city about the 3401 Cerritos Project at cerritos and wardlow. the city has just released a EIR for this project and NIMBYs are organized against having it being built at all. the city is accepting comments until Friday, October 02, 2026 at 4:30pm.

Long Beach Crash Mapper
I've been working on a project that compiles public data from the state's CCRS system and multiple public records requests from LBPD into a dashboard for looking at crash data around the city. Lots of filtering options and detailed views into intersections and corridors.
Some caveats...LBPD's record keeping isn't great. They routinely release data that's incomplete in multiple ways, with unexplained lags. They also switched record management systems mid-dataset, which creates a gap in what was captured. This makes some deeper analysis difficult, like a comprehensive look at driver ages and victim ages across all years.
