Saeyeon is a North Korean Defector

it's a cool character detail. back in chapter 52 woonhyung joked with saeyeon asking if she left her brain behind after "defecting", and chapter 84 confirms that her father had her run across the north-south korean border for freedom. he said he would follow behind her but he likely got captured or killed by north korean forces. then down the line this is how wang dokpil was able to recruit saeyeon to his training ground.

There might be a connection here

(minor castle spoilers)

i already made a theory on this in another post but this chapter makes my suspicions grow even more. noh seyoon and this finger assassin in castle have a similar way of speaking. i'm not saying that noh seyoon is this assassin (appearances are too different), but they might've known each other and trained together. if it turns out that noh seyoon was one of juro's original assassin students who ended up dying, that would be crazy 💀

High Class x Castle Parallels

(Warning: Castle spoilers)

The delivery driver and Yohan have a very similar relationship as Shin Taejin and Ryu Jihak from Castle. Yohan and Jihak both grew up in poverty/abuse as children and had no idea what kindness was until they met the delivery driver and Shin Taejin, both who were devout Christians. After their deaths all that Yohan and Ryu Jihak had left was the crosses that they left behind.

Edit: To add on, Ryu Jihak's nickname in Castle is "Yaksha" which is considered to be a deity in certain beliefs. Similarly Yohan's name stems from Johan which means "God is gracious". Redemption is also a very common theme between both characters.

Who are these 5?

obvious ones are cheon haksa (center) and ko taeho at the end. the 1st guy looks like jung yujun, 2nd guy ahn jaemin, but who is the 4th guy? i don't think any current representative in haksa's union looks like him. maybe it's noh seyoon? although he isn't a representative

Finger Assassin Identity? (high class spoilers)

i think we finally got some new information on who the finger assassin might be in castle. specifically the right thumb. warning there will be spoilers up to high class chapter 82.

i haven't read chapter 82 since only the raws are out, but i read some spoilers from korean readers and >!yohan is going to destroy one of noh seyoon's arms. i realized that instead of taeseok maybe it's noh seyoon's arm that the finger assassin has? because in chapter 82 seyoon's left hand is stabbed, but his right hand/arm is fine. and his skin color matches too.!<

and the question a lot of us had about why the finger assassin asked juro "freedom? are you running away from that man's death?". it was never revealed in castle who "that man" is. maybe he was talking about >!noh seyoon because juro used to be an assassin instructor at daeguk. so maybe noh seyoon is one of juro's earliest and most talented students. it would explain all of the scars on his body just like wang dam and cheon haksa. and it would also explain why noh seyoon hangs around cheon haksa and is so loyal to him, just like how juro is to cheon ildo. it was previously said in high class that no one knows much about noh seyoon’s background, so him being a secret assassin trainee under juro would explain why. noh seyoon also behaves differently from the other characters in high class in the sense that it looks like his sole purpose is to fight, nothing else. just like the finger assassins in castle. maybe juro regrets noh seyoon's death, which is why he told the finger assassins that they have the freedom to follow his orders or not. he doesn't want his students to die again like seyoon did, because of his orders. and the right thumb finger assassin was taunting juro because he has noh seyoon's arm.!<

edit: >!i want to add on that juro is estimated to be in his 40's in castle, which makes him old enough to have a kid of his own. maybe juro feels so strongly about "that man's death" because noh seyoon was like a son to him (seyoon is 19 in high class, like wang dam).!<

this is just a theory though, what do you guys think?

Jiu Dae-Gak and Jihyun Theory

if jitae ever reunites with his sister i think the most heartbreaking and shocking thing to him would be to see that she has been living a normal life this whole time with their father while jitae was left alone and suffered, bearing the responsibility and weight of her going missing. i think this would have the potential to throw him over the edge even more than his experience in the tunnel. because if jiu daegak was a crappy dad and hurt jihyun, and she became messed up just like jitae or worse, then at least jitae will have a reason to fight his dad. but if jihyun grew up normally and was cared for by their dad, then it would mess with jitae's mind because it would be like, why was i worried about her and afraid this whole time? he might even start hating jihyun even though it isn't her fault, and this in itself will make jitae hate himself more and cause him to crashout.

what’s more is that i think this is exactly what jiu daegak wants. i have a theory that for some reason, jiu daegak wants jitae to grow up and become a monster of a fighter because he always knew that jitae had that potential as his son. but if jitae grew up normally and sheltered then there would be no reason for that little boy to become a fighter. jitae resembled his mother too much in the sense that he was a quiet caring and aloof little kid. naturally, there's no way he would become interested in combat or anything involving violence. so daegak did something that would prime the young jitae's mind to harbor hatred, and that was to kidnap jihyun and take her away from him. even though jitae grew up and bottled up his negative feelings, when he met maria it changed everything because she is the person who caused and allowed his negative emotions to finally come forth. the scar on his forehead serves as a reminder of his hatred, to never let go of it and never forgive his dad.

also, i don't think jiu daegak hates jitae at all. he has a giant tattoo of his wife's face on his body so i think he must've loved his wife a lot, and of course his kids too. but jiu daegak had his own issues too, he was expelled from being a professional fighter because he killed an opponent and boasted about it, saying that he is just too strong. for revenge, that guy’s mother killed daegak’s wife. clearly jiu daegak is a violent man who probably has a lot of enemies. his wife died as a result, but daegak won’t be be in his prime forever to take care of his children, so what does he do? he forces jitae to take over so that jitae can not only fight and protect himself, but also protect and take care of jihyun in the future. become a monster just like his father.

fight class 3 is still a mystery, we don’t know everything that goes on in there but i think jiu daegak knows. and he wants jitae to infiltrate fight class 3 and destroy it from the inside. then later on if jitae wants to even kill his own father then i think jiu daegak would probably be fine with it and satisfied with how jitae turned out, because jitae’s growth as a vicious fighter would be a success. and this loop keeps feeding itself: the more jitae descends into madness, the more proud jiu daegak will be of him. this will in turn make jitae hate himself even more, which will make him even more insane.

but there is one solution to this: jitae can't end up like lee jakyung. him and lee jakyung are the same kinds of people, both have been normal kind students but they’ve been changed due to getting involved with fight class 3. if jitae can overcome the state of madness he’s in right now, and he balances it out with his old self who he hates so much, then i think he will become even stronger. but by having the self-control of his old self, he won't be phased by his father's antics anymore. basically the current and old jiu jitae need to come to a balance.

Agent Kim Reactivated is better than i thought

I'm one of the webtoon readers of manager kim, so when i saw the casting for the live action i can't lie i was kind of unsure and disappointed at first. nevertheless i still gave the drama a try because the minji kidnapping arc is one of my favorite arcs in the webtoon. and i'm glad i did because the drama is great. after seeing the actors in action i realize that they were chosen very well for their roles. so jisub, choi daehoon and yoon kyungho all bring the dads in manager kim to life. there was some criticism that they don't resemble the characters in the webtoon, but they make up for it with their acting talent. i can tell that they genuinely understand the characters they're portraying and the vibes they should give off, and now i wouldn't have it any other way. i saw some behind the scenes clips and the actors get along well too which is great to see. it's not only them, but having joo sangwook play the villain is probably the most accurate casting choice in this drama imo. he fits the villain's role like a glove to the point it's almost uncanny. won hyunjoon as kang gukcheol is also a really great casting choice.

as for the story, i'm satisfied because the kdrama is loyal to the webtoon. the only big changes i've noticed so far is that the laundromat and manager kim's coworker are both new original characters that didn't appear in the webtoon. and they made code 66 have a brother, which (if i remember correctly) he didn't have one in the webtoon. other than these additions, the kdrama is loyal to the webtoon which is all i could ask for in a live action. (edit: minji's male classmate and love interest is also a new character.)

one addition i especially like in the kdrama is that they sort of turned manager kim into a gag comedy. the webtoon is not this funny, but i found myself laughing a lot while watching the few episodes of the kdrama that are out so far. i look forward to the next episodes. 💯

[Flame] New gangster manhwa by the author of Plaza Wars (Mercy for None)

Also known as "Fireworks". If you like mature action, gangster, and noir manhwa then I highly recommend this. So far there are 25 chapters (17 have been translated).

It’s about a power struggle in the wake of a new era, after the death of the previous chairman of Woonjoong (a large organization that has ties to criminal activity).

The story and art are both great, but what really gets me is the panel directing in this webtoon. As you scroll down it's like watching a movie but in webtoon format, I don't know how else to explain it but it's amazing.
