For those whose bonus is a large proportion of total comp, how do you think about budgeting?

Roughly 50% of my total comp is in bonus, paid out in cash at the end of the year. Generally, I tend to budget based on the base, while the bonus is just a cherry on top. However, when I'm looking to rent a place and a $3500 apartment could be 50% of my monthly base take home, or could be much lower after year-end bonus is considered.

So what's the best way to think about it?

Edit: I'm in finance where this arrangement is pretty standard - the comp is just back-loaded. Not in a sales role where it's commissions based. The bonus is virtually stable but could fluctuate by up to ~20%. The only situations where I wouldn't get the bonus is if I'm fired or if I quit.

For those commenting that the producers have rigged the votes / setup against KC and Titi

I actually don't think it was in the producers' best interests to have KC leave. From their perspective, a cohesive storyline and ratings are the most important thing to them, over who they actually like.

Having KC and Titi in the finals (arguably one of the most genuinely compatible couples in there) will actually be a huge boost to ratings for the finale (over Kayda and Zach) because they would be a genuine threat to win AND it would put KC and Aniya against each other to see which of their couples comes out on top, basically putting a neat bow on the storyline of the two.

If the producers could have it their way, with the criteria mentioned above, this would be their final 4 (IMO):

  1. Bryce and Trinity
  2. Mel and Sincere
  3. Carl and Aniya
  4. KC and Titi

This final 4 maximizes the drama and has the most storylines, which would have maximized ratings. Having the core four in the group is cute, sure, but I also don't believe the producers want to give off this ideology that it's not about girl friendship and popularity, but about the most compatible couples.

The Aftersun segment is just as important (or even more so) in making or breaking the Islanders' post-villa success

The Aftersun segment shows an unbiased view of the islander without any producer-created narratives or editing to influence the audience. This would be the first time we're getting a real view of what the islanders want us to see, not the producers. They should consider it an interview of sorts to showing that they're ready to represent brands worldwide.

So far, I think the men have done a much better job than the women.

Sean killed it, he had nothing but nice things to say about everyone, he was hyping up Aniya like crazy (which would have gotten him points with the black community), and even with the drama with his job, he still didn't want to publicly disrespect anyone. And he was very charismatic.

Gabe was also pretty good, he also had only nice things to say about everyone, he was also hurt and confused but his overall message was that he was happy he was able to represent Brazil. Of course the latino brands would want to sponsor him.

Beatriz was good but her only issue is that she retained her dislike toward Melanie and it was too obvious. She took every opportunity she could to put Melanie down, including claiming that Sol and Sincere would last (big mistake). Just not a good look.

And finally, Sol, I think her interview was close to a disaster. She had a lot of public sentiment going her way, with everyone on her side against the islanders who ostracized her and lied to her (Sincere). All she had to do was keep it humble and she would have been America's sweetheart with lots of brand deals. Instead, she was brash, cocky and had a superiority complex. She insulted the other islanders, including KC for not goign after her (when she's a bombshell, she should have pulled him for chats). And then she randomly assumed that Bryce thinks that Kayda is prettier than Trinity, essentially comparing a dark-skinned woman to a light skin, and bringing up thoughts about colorism. That is social suicide. So it went from people sympathetic and confused as to why she was isolated in the villa, to then thinking "Okay, I kinda get it".

I still don't get why Bran as king? Wouldn't he have made a great grand-maester or Hand instead?

Just finished re-watching the show yesterday. Tyrion's pitch about why Bron makes more sense as a pitch for him to be maester:

  • he's extremely well versed of the country's history
  • Bran's mentioned before that he lives in the past (why would this make him a good candidate to usher in a new future when he's stuck in the past?)
  • Bran's clearly lost his humanity - he doesn't even consider himself to be Bran anymore. Meera's last words to him were "you died in that cave" and he doesn't refute it.
  • The best kings are supposed to inspire respect, fear and love from his subjects. It would be difficult for anyone to love Bran, he's emotionless and passionless. He can't be feared either really - nothing against cripples but there's a reason why even FDR concealed he's crippled.

What I wish would have happened instead:

  • Jon Snow continues to accept the decision that he made of bending the knee (it should be against his nature to kill his queen, it makes him no better than the kingslayer)
  • Arya should have donned a face of someone that Daenarys trusts and killed her. The last time she used a face was the beginning of S7 and was then unused.
  • Arya's found out and tells everyone that Jon is the rightful heir. She's banished away from Westeros and she travels west.
  • Jon accepts his claim, and names both Tyrion and Bran as co-hands, and Sam as grand-maester

Yolo'd into Survivor stock at lows right after the Zac Brown product release. Investor sentiment was 💀💀💀, fearing the worst was yet to come with the Mr. Beast launch. Survivor stock price was cooked, the masses saying "its so over", and that's exactly when I hammered Survivor calls. Buy low sell high baby, 💎 hands style.

The Mr. Beast episode hits and boom - Jimmy said watch this, he shut the fuck up and let the players do the talking. Cue the face-ripping rally. Survivor shorts got squeezed hard and the green candle went parabolic 🚀🚀🚀 🚀🚀🚀 we're back. We're so back.

I'm getting sick and tired over people getting sick and tired of the Jeff hate. This show has been on for 50 seasons, and you expect us to be happy that the show has gotten more kid friendly while we that have been here from the beginning have grown old and cynical? Survivor is a reality tv show, why shouldn't we get more real people? How many theatre kids, or Survivor super fans, or women do you actually see in your daily life? And if we want diversity and representation, why is Jeff still white, and why's he still a straight man? If he's trying to adapt to the change of society, if he's not at least bi by now, well bye bye now 👋
