Is Hotel Indigo within walking distance to the convention, or should I take transport to get there?

AX's website says the hotel's within walking distance, but Google Maps says it's a 17-minute walk. Mathematically, that seems like an okay distance, but I know it will also probably be really hot in the daytime during the summer. And, to be honest, that kind of seems like a bit of a walk.

Is the Convention Center, realistically, walkable from Hotel Indigo, or should I plan to take some kind of transportation back and forth, like the shuttle, public buses, Uber, etc.?

As an aspiring photographer, what can I do to make your experience more enjoyable? What have other photographers done well?

I'm a pretty new photographer who asks cosplayers if I can take their pictures for free while walking around the convention, and I have a very small number of followers on my IG. What are some suggestions on how a photographer can make the experience more enjoyable, fun, and safe for you? What are some of the things other photographers have done well, and what made the experience go well for you?

Could high RAM usage cause errors in the "Quick Select" tool?

Here is what happens when I use "Quick Select" to isolate the person from the background:

https://i.imgur.com/ieEw9Rl.mp4

  1. (Around the 0:57 mark) The AI goes haywire when I try selecting the subject and shoots off to select large parts of the background.

  2. (0:36) When I try removing the incorrect selection (the background), the AI stops "quick selecting" and will only select the parts my mouse is clicking on.

  3. (0:28 and 0:15) When I try to remove incorrect parts, random lines start shooting out.

Does anybody know how to fix this? Could it be due to high RAM usage? My device has 8 GB of RAM and uses 93% of its memory when I use PS.

The thing, though, is that "Quick Select" was working perfectly fine for months until recently. For the last few days, it's started acting very erratically like this when I've made no major changes to my device or PS preferences.

I'm aware I can use "Subject Select," but I want the "Quick Select" tool to work.

What's wrong with my "Quick Selection Tool?"

Does anybody know what's wrong with my "Quick Selection Tool?" See example:

https://i.imgur.com/ieEw9Rl.mp4

The AI can detect the subject, though. When I click "Select Subject," it's able to perfectly outline the person. That's fine in this particular case, but I still want the quick selection to work correctly.

In other words, the AI can clearly detect the subject with great accuracy, but it becomes incapable of selecting the subject and acts very erratically whenever I use "Quick Select."

"Quick Select" shoots out random lines when I attempt to select the object?

I'm trying to deselect the green parts in my picture using Quick Select, but when I attempt to use it, Quick Select starts shooting out lines in different directions. Does anybody know why it's doing that or how I can fix it?

Right now I just use my camera, and the bad con lighting is starting to limit me. As a beginner to flash photography, is it better for me to start with on-camera or off-camera flash, and can you please give your recommendations for good starter flashes, including any modifications? It also may be worth noting that I may be going to some bigger, more crowded cons by myself, so I'm kind of taking that into consideration, as well.

I'm still pretty new to cosplay photography, but I often hear this hobby is relationship-based. Honestly, I'm a very shy person, so how do I build rapport or relationships with cosplayers, make them feel comfortable when I shoot with them, build my reputation in the cosplay community, etc.?

I'm not the most talkative person or great at small talk, so I often don't know what to say when taking pictures or what to say if I see somebody again at a convention or meet up. I'm also a newbie, so my skills aren't at the point where cosplayers are seeking me out for photos, and I don't feel comfortable enough with my skills enough to do shoots or mini-shoots.

If we mutually follow each other on social media, we may like each other's pictures once in a while, but I don't know if I'd really call that a "relationship." And even then, one of us may just get bored and start moving on.
