Anyone else feel like the disabling of workshop mods is suspiciously close to the post about someone getting full access to the desktop?

Just a week ago there was an article showing someone had "broken out" of the locked down system and been able to use GFN as a desktop PC. The process specifically has the user replace an executable for a game, allowing the escape. Much like how mods replace game files...

To have mods disabled so close to that article seems suspicious.

Anyway I guess my message is this is why we can't have nice things.

[REQUEST] Any better fishing game options?

I've tried a few that have been recommended - Dredge, Fishing Paradiso and Creatures of the Deep are fun but largely aren't "fishing games."

I'm not looking for a simulation, but I'd like to at least have different rods/bait/tackle and some form of "fighting" mechanic. So far FishingPlanet seems to be the best option, but of course comes with all the F2P nonsense.

I've noticed several devs "bypassing" the idea of Play Pass

I recently installed Fishing Paradiso after seeing it featured on Play Pass. After playing for a bit I was given a prompt that I could buy a coin doubler and infinite bait bundle. It successfully gave it to me for free through Play Pass.

The next time I played, I was back to getting the "base" amount of coins rather than the double coins, and no longer saw the bait at all. I reached out to the dev and was given this response:

> The Play Pass version keeps the double-coin feature disabled. This usually isn’t a problem for players who start the game with Play Pass, but it sounds like you activated Play Pass after you had already started playing?

> We wanted the Play Pass version to be equivalent to the Nintendo Switch and Steam versions, which is why we designed it this way.

Now, I hadn't played before play pass but I'll just chalk that up to a bug. But doesn't this seem contrary to the concept? Instead of unlocking the in-app purchases, they just block access to the in-app purchases. From the Play Pass page:

> In the catalog, all ads are removed and all in-app purchases and paid titles are unlocked.

Is this "suppression" of IAP rather than unlocking allowed per the terms?

Anyone finding sleep mode very inconsistent?

I often have issues after using sleep mode. Things like...

  • Display output not working
  • Performance issues (just overall lag and slowness)
  • Games failing to launch
  • Games failing to load

All of these require a restart (sometimes via a hard power off) to resolve.

On the other hand, if I turn it off every time it has been rock solid.

Anyone else?

Is there a way to get better integration with Bitwarden on mobile?

I've been using Bitwarden for a while to keep a unified password manager separate from my browser. I'm coming back to Firefox now that it has tab groups on mobile. Bitwarden will autofill... most of the time on Firefox, but when I type in a new password Firefox instead tries to save it to its own password manager. With other browsers, they try to save to Bitwarden.

Is there any way to get it to save to Bitwarden?

Can I access community control schemes for "non-Steam" versions of games?

Hear me out. I want to install Guild Wars 2 but I have purchased it from arenanet directly. I've heard there are user created control schemes that work pretty well on the Deck. Is there any way I can access those when I have it installed from the website?

Short history/biography podcasts for kids like the original format of Who When Wow?

My son and I loved the first "season" of Who, When, Wow before they switched formats. Basically short, kid-friendly biographies. Any recommendations?

I had my first "modern door opener" issue

I've said since I got the MME that the electronic door actuators are an unnecessary complication. Like the electronic parking brake on my Bronco I figured it would never actually be an issue but it still bothered me.

Well, today that was proven wrong. My wife was trying to get out of the house for an appointment and when she opened the door, the "plunger" that pushes the door open failed to retract and stopped the door from closing. This happened on all of the doors. Pressing on the plungers as some online have stated did not work.

Ultimately we got it to close by using a screwdriver to close the latch. When we pressed the button to open the latch it came out again, but pushing on it while it was extending got it to close again.

Anyway, a frustrating experience caused by a "feature" that doesn't even improve the day to day experience.

Adblock issues on Android

I've been using Brave for a while, but switched to Vivaldi for various reasons. My problem is that adblock seems... Inconsistent at best. This is on the latest v7.9 for Android.

I understand that YouTube may be inconsistent, but many websites seem to not have ads blocked at all. For example, I was making a recipe off www.inspiredtaste.net and the site was loaded with ads that did not get blocked by Vivaldi.

I have disabled "allow ads from our partners" but is there anything else I can do to improve the blocking on Android?

Tagged PC but PlayStation works as long as it is split screen co-op. For PC we have two devices we can play on so online is fine.

We've been playing Destiny 2 and while we're enjoying that, there are a couple issues...

  1. The mess that the game is currently, with very little of it making sense
  2. The activities that would most interest him - Fireteam Portal activities, enable matchmaking with a third random person which means we can't go at our own pace
  3. He's not particularly interested in the scope of the builds in the game and would want something simpler

We'd like something that has a decent variety of weapons to play around with, as well as a quick way to get into a fight. Not looking for a prolonged story mode.

Any recommendations?
