Tuono v4 brake pads

Hello fellow track homies, its time to finally swap the oem brake pads on my '26 tuono v4 factory. What's the recommended front pads for half track, half street use? I had no complaints about the oem pads except after about 1600 miles they are pretty much gone along with the rear tire (which is on order as well)

I did some precursory looking and found some possible options from sbs and vesrah, just kinda weird the sbs pads are literally half the price...

Im in Texas so whatever I need I'll probably order from AF1 if they have it, just curious what yall recommend first. Thanks!

Anyone else having an issue with video pass? Trying to watch Assen motogp practice session but the video is only 24 minutes and change long. It's missing the last 40 minutes of the session, like they didn't upload the entire thing.

Edit. Seems to be working now 5 hours later lol

Gen 2 Astars R7/R10 shields coming available

For those who have been waiting or suffering with cheapo aliexpress visors, OEM Gen 2 R7/R10 visors are now shipping from alpinestars directly. Saw dark smoke, mirror and blue mirror in stock on their website. Ordered and delivered in 3 days. Definitely better than the gen 1 design as well thanks to the new raised finger nubs on the locking tab (much easier to close now), but its also cheaper than the gen one at $99, except for the mirror which is still $120

Get em while they're hot so you can rest those retinas lol

Aliexpress R7 visors

As much as I hate to support the platform I bit the bullet and ordered some aliexpress r10 visors for my r7, and you know what, they are totally *fine. Not bad for under $50 shipped for both. I got them in only a few days too. Both are nice and dark and look great in the sun.

The silver one did require a bit of work to get it to lock properly (the internal latch lock on the visor tab was not seated all the way on the studs, so it hit it with the open end of a 1/4" socket to get it to sit flush), but other than that they aren't bad. There is a tiiiny bit of distortion at the very edges but only noticeable if you really look for it. They aren't flimsy either, they feel as thick as the oem although no doubt not tested or rated in any sort of real impact protection.

These will be totally fine until astars gets their shit together and starts shipping the new updated r7/r10 visors so I can replace these back with proper oem visors.

Then Vs Now

First track day ever, vs now. Body position looks so much better. The switch from handlebars to woodcraft clipons really helped my ergonomics on this bike. My torso is MUCH lower and forward, shoulders and elbows pointing into the corner instead of tucked in, and wayyyy more confidence inspiring.

Cant wait for the next one, should be at ECR in July :)

'26 Tuono V4 Arrow De-Cat, and Slip on installed (finally)

Aprilia...why did you move the cat into the link pipe. UGH! What a huge pain in the ass to remove. Getting to the front header bolts was the worst part, as you have to loosen them up to get the front of the link pipe off before the rear up pipes will drop out.

Even dropping the oil cooler doesnt give much room because the way the radiator mounts on the new model, there is barely any wiggle room. I had to come at if from underneath down by where the oil cooler was with a frankenstein ratchet with a 12 inch extension, to a flex joint, to a 3 inch extension to the 10mm socket. Basically an 80 degree angle to the header bolts.

The Arrow link pipe was super easy to get in though, no issues there. The worst part is definitely getting the factory stuff out.

Also, 2 notes with the Upmap tune:

  1. after flashing I had a "vehicle not configured" error on the dash. AF1's product page for the upmap says if you see this you have to go into Upmap special functions and you have to set mph/kmh. Configured, and fixed.
  2. after fixing that error, there was a new error after a key cycle: "SCU not configured". Suspension issue of some kind. There are no notes regarding this error, but there is another Upmap special functions called "Enable suspensions", so did that too, and that fixed that error.

After that she was error free and started up great. Holy shit the Arrow link pipe and Leo Vince S Line muffler combo is loud, but sounds absolutely incredible. Its much louder without the baffle, obviously, but even in it sounds really nice, and it get a bit deeper tone as well. My tune is for without baffle so I will run it as such until I go somewhere with noise limits.

As part of the install, I also removed the flapper cables, but I kept the servo motor in for now. It can be removed later.

I also plan to remove the evap system, I just dont have the extra little parts at the moment, need to run to the auto store for those.

I also had to reinstall the O2 sensors (I planned on deleting them) but I was given the wrong version of the arrow pipe vs what I ordered. I wanted the non-ported version, but was disappointed to see upon opening the box the sales guy gave me the ported one. Oh well. So I just stuck the O2 sensors back in for now. Eventually I will buy more blanking plugs, and remove the sensors. They are disabled anyways in the Upmap tune and leaving them in wont hurt anything.

Overall, I'd give it a solid 8.5/10 for difficulty. You definitely need the right tools, some muscle, patience, and mechanical problems solving to get this done. Having not ever worked on an Aprilia before, and non-existent instructions or youtube videos for this generation Tuono v4, I'd say from very start to finish, it probably took me about 7 hours while trying to figure out what I needed to do on the fly and get it done. Could probably get it down to 3 or 4 hours if I needed to do it again.

100% should be worth it though, just havent had a chance to ride it yet to see how the fueling feels, but sounds incredible, and should run better and cooler.

'26 Tuono v4 decat help

*edit: solved now*

Hey guys are there any tips or videos on getting the factory mid pipe/catalytic converter out? Im installing the Arrow decat link pipe but I cannot get this bugger out.

I read that loosening or removing the front headers is necessary but even with dropping the lower oil cooler I can't get to the header bolts, especially the inner 2. Maybe I don't have the right type of ratchet accessories to get to them, my hands are too big, or my technique is bad.

What tools and or technique is needed to get to those header bolts?

If I also loosened the water radiator it might help access the area but I'm not sure how to do that and the instructions don't say to do so, only the oil cooler. The water radiator only wiggles an inch or two so there is barely any room.

Any tips, tool recommendations or especially videos on removing that factory bread box would be extremely helpful. Thanks :)

*edit* got it off. There is basically no useful information I could find on doing this project on this bike. A number of things are quite different vs the previous gen, which all the instructions I could find were for. The box didnt even come with instructions, I had to get them off AF1's website, and even then the instructions dont say HOW to do anything, just "do this", and leave it up to your mechanical skills to figure it out.

Glad its done, dont want to do it again, lmao

Picking up this bad boy this week. Any quirks to be aware of?

Gonna pick up this 2026 V4 Tuono factory this week. First Aprilia, first big boy bike after 20 years of riding. Anything I should know or look out for on this model? Any must do mods or accessories? Gonna be used 70% street 30% track days. I have a feeling the electronics are gonna take some getting used to.

Super excited though. Coming off a long history of several middle weight bikes, should be quite a jump :)

Gen 4 GP shift: Swap to R9 lever or do woodcraft shifter?

First pic is a Gen 4 swapped to an R9 shifter with these part #'s - ~$70
5YT-18113-00-00
BKN-18111-00-00
(there is a rear hole already in the lever, but you have to tap it with threads to use it)

2nd pic is an known Gen with the Woodcraft shift lever from vcyclenut - ~$90

Has anyone swapped their gen4 with stock rearsets (in high position) to either of these options and can chime in with their thoughts?

Im leaning more towards just doing the R9 lever to keep it all yamaha, and its a bit cheaper, and there isnt much good documentation of the woodcraft lever on the 4th gen.

Thanks!

To all my fellow SR7 early adopters, the visor situation is terrible. Finding a smoke visor is impossible right now. So I present to you, a DIY solution using a stick on $20 tinted pin lock. It's not as dark as a smoke visor but it will work for now until they come available. They even make photochromic once if you're feeling fancy.
