Question TO Arabic learners

I recently discovered this sub and as a native speaker I’m just realizing how difficult it is for you all 💀 I have a question, do you learn إعراب (I’rab) and قواعد (Kawa’ed) at all? Those used to make me contemplate death at school
And how did you start to learn? I know Arabic is a very different system from most other languages but I would never imagine myself re-learning all that, although it’s a beautiful language.

Do you know the difference between a مفعول به and مفعول فيه, and do you bother with grammatical endings at all? Or is your approach different in a way that you learn just what you need in order to speak your dialect? I’m interested to know how that experience is for you

Question about Deuteronomy 32:8

If anyone is knowledgable about this topic l’d appreciate your feedback. I read the Bible sometimes in English, sometimes in Arabic (it’s my native language).

In English, this verse describes God dividing up the nations and setting their boundaries according to the number of the sons of God (or the sons of Israel, depending on the translation).

The EVR-AR Bible I have says:
عَيَّنَ حُدُودَ الأُمَمِ وَفْقًا لِعَدَدِ المَلَائِكَةِ
-> … according to the number of angels.

Anyone knows if there are English translations that also read “angels”? And what difference would it make in terms of understanding this verse?

Some of my results, any tips?

Hey guys, recently started getting in RV again, but just for fun, not seriously, as I randomly remembered I had the app. I forgot what the main methods were, and was curious if there has been any new studies / methods you guys use? (I haven’t focused/studied RV in some years now, so I’m not fully updated).

Here are some of my results, let me know what you think and where I should improve, thanks!

(Last one was last year, I also remembered the app randomly, for reference).

The first 2 are recent. I couldn’t focus much and just scribbled / wrote what came to my mind the first few seconds, cause then I was completely blank. How would you compare these results?

Long term apartment rental in Málaga, where to look?

Hey guys, I’m looking for to rent a flat in Málaga because I’ll be moving there for work. Any recommendations on where to look? And how much is rent these days?

If it helps, I’m Spanish, looking for a studio/small apartment for 1 person, furnished.

Would also appreciate your insight on how life is in Màlaga: public transport, cost of living, how the community is like, things to do, etc.

Hezb disarmament

I have a question. If hezb does disarm, what would happen with their weapons? Logically it would be given to the army right? If that’s the case how can anyone be against that and why do Hezb supporters argue that the military would be too weak to defend itself if disarmament happens?
I am missing something

I feel guilt when I help people in need

I don’t know how to say so bear with me.

When I have some money left over I would (when I can) buy some sandwiches/water/etc. for people in need on the streets.

I believe that when you do good things, good things will come back to you. Obviously that’s not the reason why I help, I just help because I want to be a good human.

However, I feel guilt because my mind tells me I’m helping them because I’m expecting something in return or whatever. For example today I was going to the supermarket and there was a homeless person outside, I got him a sandwich and a bottle of water. I felt really grateful because I could help him but at the same time something in my mind kept telling me my intentions aren’t genuine and I’m only doing that for good karma.

But I know myself and I know it’s not true so now when I help people I feel guilt, and when I don’t I feel guilt too.

Any advice? Do some people experience the same thing? 🫠

Why do so many people move out at 18?

This has caught my attention recently because I didn’t expect it to be a common practice in Europe and the USA more specifically. So I’d like to know the reasoning behind it. Please correct me if I’m wrong but I believe it’s normal to move out when you are 18 / get your first job?

It’s interesting for me because in my country we’re very close/attached to our families and keep living under the same roof until marriage or if a job requires us to relocate for convenience.

So I’m curious what’s the reasoning behind it? Wouldn’t it make more sense to save your money? Is it a privacy thing? I understand the need to move out for college/jobs/family problems but is there other reasons? Thank you.

AITA for cutting off all ties with my friend?

We’re both 20M, and have been best-friends since kindergarten. He recently got into a new friend group and when I’m with them I noticed his behavior changes to accommodate the group, probably to fit in (like his way of talking, even his opinion on certain stuff). These behavior changes went on for almost a year and now it seems like he’s not the same person I used to know, even his behavior towards me changed but I won’t get into much detail.

Anyways I recently found out he has been dating a 40 years old woman for 6 months. He’s 20. Doesn’t have a job. She’s probably looking to start a family. Yes it’s not my business but he’s been hiding that from me and I found that out through my other friends (he mentioned it to them). Apparently a lot of other people know except for me.

Things have been tense for the past few months between us because of his behavior changes and him ignoring me / lying to me to go out with his other friends. I’ve been thinking about cutting contact with him because of a lot of disrespectful things he used to do, and when I found out about him not mentioning his relationship to me but having no problem casually mentioning it to other people, it was the last straw for me and now I’m not talking to him anymore. I didn’t give him any explanation.

Is that a valid reason or am I overreacting?

Do pet owners clean their pet’s paws after every walk?

Sorry if that’s a dumb question but I have never owned a pet and was wondering if you clean your dogs’ paws after every walk before letting them enter the house. If yes, how do you do it?

Edit: for more context my question comes from seeing dogs walking on the street then hopping on the bed as the same thing as a person laying on the bed with their shoes on. I don’t have dogs and I have no idea how they clean themselves so that’s why I’m asking.

ELI5 how search engines know what information to display and how

It may sound dumb but I searched on Google “time in *country*” and there was a box with the local time in it. If you also type other variations of that question you will get the same result. This is just an example but what I want to know is how does Google (or other search engines) understand what I want and how does it pick what information to display and how to display it (like for example the “People also ask” section).

I know that AI has been existing since a long time so it may be the obvious answer but is it just that?

ELI5 why do we hold our breath immediately after getting injured / feeling pain?

Like when you involuntarily hold your breath as a reflex to hitting a table leg with your toe.
Also I don’t know if that’s related but I feel like not breathing decreases pain.

ELI5 why can people do tricks with their tongues, and others can’t?

I basically can only move my tongue up, down, left and right, and that’s what I thought was everyone’s case for all my life.
Imagine my surprise when I saw my brother casually and effortlessly rolling his tongue into a tube, flipping it 180°, making it look like a spoon… When I asked other family members if they could do the same, they tried it and most of them effortlessly succeeded.
Others, like me, couldn’t (I don’t even know what my brain needs to do in order to achieve this).
Is it something like an extra muscle in the tongue? Is it genetics? What gives someone that ability?

What to dress for an interview?

Hello, I recently got invited for an assessment with a European low cost airline and they stated that the dress code is smart casual. I guess that means no tie, among other things. What do you think would be most appropriate to wear?
