G5622T Bridge Suddenly Not Working 1 Week Before Gig - Help!

Hello, fellow Gretsch players!

After having loved my 5622T electric for about 5 years, there was an issue with the input jack literally just weeks ago and I was able to get someone to fix it! Now, just days before a f*cking gig (of course), the bridge pickup has incredibly low volume.

No distortion, no audible sound issues other than brutally low volume. After doing some research, it seems like it's a very low chance that the pick-up itself is the issue - it's most likely the pickup switch. I've done the recommended solution of putting some DeoxIT in the switch and toggling it back and forth, and after a few times trying that out and putting varrying levels of liquid...still zero change with the issue.

What is my next step here? How can I fix this before my gig on Saturday? Incredibly frustrating how this guitar has had zero issues for years until two separate issues pop up in the same month. Wtf.

Anyone else just deeply impressed by the last 10 minutes?

I adore horror films, but easily the hardest part for the entire genre is sticking the landing. Even some of my favorite horror films of all time, the ending can get clunky to the point where I kind of just zone out.

The last act of this film is possibly my favorite part of the whole film, it's so fucking rare for a horror movie to keep getting better and better, with all the built-up tension being finally released. I'm convinced that's one of the main reasons why this film was so successful..

One last "WHY DON'T YOU LOVE MEEEEEE", the mutilated body of Sarah, Ian getting shockingly headshot at point blank, Bear's hilariously panicked "I LOVE YOUUUUUUUU!!!!!", the genius idea of having Bear take pills and then try to back out of that, only for Nikki to make a wish - the hilarious and depressingly cute looks they give each other as they are both finally deeply in love for just a minute, only for Bear to die and Nikki to finally come back. Even watching the film for the first time, I couldn't help but have the biggest smile knowing 'yup, this is one of my favorite horror movies ever.'

With so many great shots throughout the film, this one literally ends with my favorite one - the slow pan downwards from Nikki, to Bear on the ground, to the TV upside down and the credits in the TV? Urgh, amazing.

How fucking rare is this for a horror movie!?!?

Let's Debate: The Kill Bill Volumes 1 & 2 is Still Superior To The Whole Bloody Affair

Hello, fellow Tarantino nerds!

I'm admittedly a tad biased due to Volume 2 being my favorite Tarantino film ever, but do you guys feel about which edit is better? The Whole Bloody Affair on 35mm was one of my favorite movie experiences ever, yet here's my argument for why the Volumes edit is still superior ;

- I think 1 & 2 being different films with different discs/main menus/intro sequences and credits is just a cooler thing for the story imo. Very subjective but I love when a sequel is better than the OG, and it ranks up there with The Godfather Part 2, Terminator 2, etc etc

- The ending of Vol. 1 is just all around better. The music, the montage, the shot of Beatrix crossing the names off her list is strangely absent in the WBA edit (which is especially weird to cut out the list, which adds momentum/checklist of where she's at). I get that in the WBA it wouldn't make sense to tease what we're literally about to keep watching, but the Vol. 1 ending is just too well done imo.

This is also a big point of contention for fans, but I whole heartedly believe that telling the audiences that Bibi is still alive is just an emotionally stronger piece of writing than keeping that surprise all the way to the very end. While I get that it's cool for new audiences to be as shocked as Beatrix, I think it's even stronger to give audiences a gigantic piece of information that you KNOW will change everything, yet our main character still doesn't know. It adds an obviously more complex layer to Killing Bill, and it's no longer just the tension of 'when is she gonna..Kill Bill' but makes you a little more worried, anxious and weirdly excited for her to finally get to Bill.

I'm also fairly convinced that diehards who love the cliffhanger being cut just like that WBA feels different, they obviously forgot how it was the first time seeing the end of Volume 1 and being like...wait WHAT? It builds tension for Volume 2 and makes the ending so much more complicated.

- The intro sequence to Kill Bill Vol.2 is fucking *bad-ass*. It's shlockey as hell, the music is loud, it breaks the fourth wall, and it starts with a bang. It obviously makes sense for the intermission in WBA to not be followed by this sequences, but...cutting it out entirely?! I personally like it better than the slow opening credits of Vol. 1, wouldn't it have been cool to start the WBA with "Bill....it's your baby-"BANG - cut to Vol. 2's intro, "...looked dead, didn't I?"

- The extended Oren anime sequence was cool but unnecessary imo.

Now the two big things I love more in the WBA edit is the full-color Crazy 88 fight and those extra little shots here and there, especially with the scared kid. That was a blast to watch and it makes the fight better imo.

I also love that longer trunk sequence with Sophie, I thought the extra dialogue and brutality was very neat. I just don't think those two better things override the Volumes 1 and 2.

Thoughts?

Traynor YCV40 - Pre-amp Tubes or Power Tubes? Worse?

Hi there,

I've had this Traynor YCV40 for almost 5 years now and frankly as much as I love the sound, I regret how freakin' heavy and weirdly fragile this thing is. I do 20 minute car rides for rehearsals and gigs, and the sounds it makes on very normal roads ain't great to hear. The spring reverb sounds like its breaking apart and I've already had to replace the power tubes.

Now I'm having a pretty bad problem, can someone please help identify what is going on?

It seems like the only channel that works right now is the distortion channel. The clean channel has a loud hum and no guitar coming out, while the distortion channel needs to have the volume up much higher to produce sound and even then, the tone isn't as full as it used to be. There's very very slight volume fluctuations too.

I've looked at the big Power tubes in the back, and it doesn't emit a red plate like the one I had to switch nor does it do any noise when I do the gentle tap test. One of them does seem a little brighter in orange than the other. Is it possible that it needs yet another change (a year ago, mind you), even if the tap test doesn't show anything?

Due to the build, I can't access the pre-amp tubes without power tools. Do these symptoms sound more like pre-amp tube failure? Or something worse....

Please help 😞 This has been so freakin' annoying dealing with a tube amp, and it's at the worst possible time as we have gigs lined up. Thank you!

Any 4K regrets?

So, does anyone have any regrets? Either blind buying, or a purposeful buy, orrr regretting NOT getting a release when it was for sale?

My recent blind buy regret was for Arrow Video's The Eye - cost me fucking 76$CAD, I don't know why I trusted I would love the film that much (I adore other Asian horror like Shutter and Ringu) but I adored the artwork *a lot*.

Ended up watching the same day and...very underwhelming film. Maybe a single scene I liked, it was just way more simple and poorly executed than I was expecting. I might try to sell it tbh.

How about you?
