PCIJ: P500M proposed DPWH budget for 12 districts whose Reps didn’t back Sara’s impeachment

PCIJ: NEW DPWH FORMULA?

PCIJ reviewed the proposed 2027 Department of Public Works and Highways funding for every legislative district and found that 12 districts were each allocated exactly P500 million.

What do they have in common? Their representatives either voted against impeaching Vice President Sara Duterte or did not take part in the vote last May.

Overall, 34 of the 46 legislators who did not back the impeachment saw their districts' funding cut, putting them among the 50 lowest-funded districts for public works.

NOTE: The proposed allocation per legislative district covers all programs of the Department of Public Works and Highways. District representatives do not have discretion over all these projects.
