 I keep telling myself I’ll try new stuff and then end up in the same enemies-to-lovers slow burn every time. What’s your comfort trope? No judgment, just curious.

I get that companies have to turn a profit, but almost every other RP app still gives you hourly free refills or a reasonable cooldown so you can actually play. Chai just gives us false hope. They’ll roll out a decent update to quiet everyone down, then stealth-nerf it three weeks later or hide another basic feature behind pieces. Even paying users are sick of the constant bait-and-switch. When a company acts this greedy, how do they expect anyone to trust them?

LLM's context window degrades fast in long RP, and no amount of Chat Memory tweaking changes native backend limits. If you actually care about continuity, deep lore, and characters remembering details past 20 messages, hooking up alt models like Claude or DeepSeek via proxies is literally the only real solution. Stop waiting on native context updates and just swap backends.

Nothing will ruin the mood like constructing a massive 50-message storyline, only to have the bot completely ignore your name and even your location. If these websites really hope to keep users from switching services, then increasing context memory capacity is all that they need to do.

Some people write super polite OOC notes to JAI so they don't hurt its feelings, while others edit responses like a strict boss. How do you talk to the bot when you need a rewrite manners or raw commands?

I feel like everyone's experience with context rot is totally different depending on their setup, so let's compare notes. Comment below with the proxy or model you’re currently using and how many messages you can actually get through before the bot starts repeating itself or forgetting core plot details. I’m on default JLLM and it's basically cooked by message 15. Are paid proxies actually fixing this for you guys, or is everyone dealing with the same memory wipe?

is anyone else just completely burnt out? i stuck with ch.ai until the disney crackdown made the filter so sensitive it blocked everything. switched to chai, but they got so greedy asking for up to $20 a week just to chat. came here looking for a safe haven, but JAI is falling into the exact same trap with the censorship and money grabs. i’m so exhausted by this endless cycle that i just gave up and went back to c.ai. take me back to 2024 when this was actually fun.

i thought the whole point of AI roleplay was that it was the free alternative to real-life romance 😭

i came here because i'm too broke to afford actual dates, gas money, or basic social interaction. but now the default LLM is suffering from severe memory loss, and the only way to get a coherent reply is paying per message on an external proxy. i’m out here getting financial stress from a bot. how did we manage to get priced out of real relationships AND fake ones at the same time???

i notice this weird split during long roleplays:

sometimes a chat feels WAY better after 50+ messages because the bot finally settles into the character's voice and the story flows naturally. but other times, it feels like context rot hits, the bot gets super repetitive, and key plot points just vanish.

do u guys feel like bots actually improve the longer a chat goes, or is there a specific message point where quality inevitably drops off for u?

i used to love JAI because it was the ONLY place you could do massive, 600+ message story arcs (dating, marriage, raising kids, the whole plot). but lately it feels like every single update makes the user experience worse:

• Auto-summary is ruined: it wipes the whole Chat Memory box, hallucinates fake plot points, and the new "old summary" toggle is completely cosmetic.
• Proxies are a wallet drain: JLLM context is so hit-or-miss that people are burning money on OpenRouter keys just to keep a bot memory coherent.
• Dev disconnect: instead of fixing broken memory or giving us basic stuff like bot collections, we get the 999th UI redesign that literally nobody asked for.

the old auto-summary actually worked and kept my 600+ message chats alive. now every time i hit summarize, it completely wipes out whatever was in my Chat Memory box and replaces it with fake details that didn't even happen. even trying to fix it manually doesn't work right anymore. is anyone else's long-term RP totally ruined by this update or is it just me?

I have many creators on my account but half of them have been deleted recently. The interesting thing is that not all of them were creating any NSFW stuff so I don’t know which rule they were violating.

Janitor AI and Chub are my main websites due to the extensive character database and card export/import facility, but losing them is very annoying.

Anyone having similar issues? Should Janitor keep deleting creators, which other AI chatbot sites with extensive character database can I use?
