23, no idea what career i should go for

im turning 23 in a month, last semester management bachelor’s degree.

i have no idea what to do after graduating, im 99.9% sure im not getting a job out if this vague degree seeing as how fucked up the white collar job market is in the US.

ive been planning to get a masters on a different field since year 2 but i literally dont know which should i go for?

had an interest going for accounting + CPA since its basically the most stable career you can get into (according to my research)

any recommendations? i just dont wanna be unemployed after graduating 😭😭

Do you think the benefits provided by most European countries justify their high tax rates?

So here, in Germany, the government literally takes 0.40¢ for every Euro I make.

But we do get pretty much almost everything; healthcare, unemployment benefits, paid leave, pensions, long term care when you’re old, etc.

What do the Americans here think about this? Do you think you’d rather pay more taxes to get these benefits or still a big no?

cars that literally cost almost nothing to maintain?

hey everyone, first time car buyer here, i'm 26, i've gotten a stable job already, pays quite well, and now i need a car because i need to commute to work.

i'm trying to buy a car that basically costs very cheap to maintain, ie i don't have spend 1-2k if i ever go to the repair shop, doesn't break easily, reliable, fuel economy, etc. i know its a stretch lol.

budget is around 60k cash. i'm not trying to finance anything, i wanna buy it outright. cpo or new i dont mind.

i absolutely have no idea about cars whatsoever, did some research and basically i ended up with 3 options, a corolla, a prius, or a civic.

maybe some seasoned veterans can help a brother out. thanks!

guys what is this im just a new student majoring astrophysics

I thought I will be watching Interstellar and Kurzgesagt everyday, and learning the philosophy of the universe, poetic discussions about the meaning of existence, parallel universes, alien life, and dark matter. But instead I need to solve the physics problem of a rocket travelling 294,213 miles per minute at a rotation of 1,242.1635 rpm with a 0.002% success rate and calculating if a 0.001 difference in rotational torque and terminal velocity will crash the spaceship to a boring ahh rock in mars instead of exotic black holes, wormholes, and distant multi-dimensional galaxies. And I think I am Cooper doing a heroic act of saving humanity by solving the theory of everything while Interstellar Cornfield Chase music is playing the background but instead I fucking die because my spaceship gets blown apart that was caused by a 2.418 x 10^-12 difference in hydrostatic equilibrium in the simulation cockpit and realized I'm actually not "him" and the fifth dimension isn't going to save me with drake music playing in the background. /s

what masters should i go for for maximum job security?

Seeing as how fucked up the job industry is, what field should you really get into? I'm a 3rd year econ major in a T20.

Maybe I'm trying to find a silver lining here, and even then I'm starting to think those posts on social media have increased so much that it's not even negativity bias anymore, it's just the reality.

What should you study and which career should you get into?

I heard about Accounting since every company needs an accountant, and various sources even mentioned that the white collar industry has gotten so bad that you should just go for an accelerated BSN program and save the headache.

GENUINELY WHERE DO I GO ATP?

ELI5 : How do corrupt world leaders or dictators learn to exploit the powers of their office?

For example, how do dictators know where and how to divert public funds, taxpayer's money, or even international aid for their own benefit? Take Mobutu as an example. After coming to power, how did he know which government institutions or financial systems could be exploited to transfer money into offshore foreign bank accounts, such as those in Switzerland, Monaco, Hong Kong, etc?

If I were placed in a similar position and were corrupt, I honestly would not know where to begin or how I could misuse the powers available to me. Is this knowledge something that members of the ruler's inner circle already possess, or is it something they learn after taking office?

At what point does scope creep become a problem?

I’ve spent over two months refining my PC build, and somehow the total price just keeps going up and currently I’m now on my sixth CPU and GPU choice 😭

I don’t really have a fixed budget, but I also don’t want to spend more than I need to. The problem is that “too much” is pretty vague and means something different to everyone. I’m already about $300 over what I originally planned to spend.

At what point do you think it’s a good idea to stop overthinking it and just buy the damn components already?

For context, I’m currently considering a 12600K and a 3080. Not going for AM5 since I have a 32 D4 kit sitting around collecting dust.

Build recommendation regarding new or old sockets and poor ram choices?

I have a dilemma whether I should go with either AM4/1700 + 2x16 D4 or AM5 + 1x16 D5?

Seeing as how insane DDR5 prices are, I genuinely cannot afford 2x16 of D5.

  1. 14400F + 2x16 D4 CL16
  2. 9600X + 1x16 D5 CL46

The price of both options are literally the same. I was wondering which one is a better buy since I still can't accept over the fact that if I were to go with 14400F, I would get 20% worse single thread performance compared to the 9600X while both of them being the same price.

I'm not sure if the 9600X's performance gains outweigh my poor D5 ram specs, but that's genuinely the only stick of D5 I can afford.

I will obviously be buying another stick of D5 in the future if I were to go with option 2.

My usage will be primarily CPU intensive, Tarkov, CIV6, MSFS, CS2, and also some coding, etc.

Will be pairing this with a used 3070 I got from eBay.

Thanks!!!

Using all 4 DIMM slots on DDR5?

Built a PC 4 months ago and I genuinely regret it since I was broke and I could only buy 2x8 of D5.

At the time, I had a dilemma between going with AM4/1700 with 2×16 GB DDR4 or going with AM5/1851 with 2x8 of D5, I ended up choosing 1851 bcs I just couldn't accept the fact that I will be paying almost the same amount of money for an 14400F when the 245K is significantly better, especially in single thread (around 25% from what I've seen).

My current build is a 245K and 3080 with 2x8 of D5, and I've saved some money to afford another 2x8 stick but the problem is that I genuinely can't afford 2x16 of D5.

Would it be a bad idea to just buy another identical 2x8 GB and run 4 sticks of D5? Or should I just stay with 16 GB until I can afford to upgrade properly? I just want to know if there are any major significant downsides.

Funny how Super users still miss out basically A QUARTER OF LESSONS?

I just bought Super for one month, and I’m already starting to regret it because more than A QUARTER of each unit is locked behind those stupid video call roleplay features that are paywalled under the even more expensive Max subscription.

It‘s not that I hate those video roleplays, infact I love them, but the fact that they deliberately do this so that we get pressured to buy THE more expensive subscription is honestly insane.

There’s honestly not even a silver lining anymore. I still get bombarded with annoying Super Family and Max ads after every single lesson.

Great fucking job Duolingo.

Need GENUINE ADVICE regarding overly religious roommate.

First of all let me start that this absolute piece of scum blasts off his goddamn alarm at 4:40AM every day. I dont give a shit if he has to pray, i genuinely dont mind what he does about his religion, but this has fucked up my sleep schedule countless of times (i literally had to resort to using sleeping pills again, WHICH I WAS AVOIDING)

Second; roommate wouldnt let me eat food that contains any meat (in our room) since he deems it as haram and the smell of my food is haram. I genuinely dont understand what denomination of the religion he follows since he doesnt eat any meat at all except for meat that he deems as halal. (even me bringing chicken nuggets got him complaining, i could understand if its pork that is associated with being haram in islam, but even then i genuinely dont give a shit since i dont care whats haram or halal)

Third; this dude keeps blasting praying calls every 2 hours in our room. I genuinely tried to ask him nicely to use his headphones but he insisted that he has the right to do it.

I genuinely have no idea how am I supposed bring this or complain to the RA without sounding racist or „islamaphobic“. I dont want to be kicked out of the dorm since I can‘t afford off campus housing.

I NEED ADVICE GENUINELY!!!!

How‘s life like in München in general?

Aside from the high rent, which seems to be the only thing everyone talks about, how’s life there generally?

I’ve attended German classes for years now as a hobby and also an elective and have confidently reached B2. Wouldn‘t hurt choosing Germany as one of the countries I can think about going to ^^

I know this might sound like a stupid question, but I’m currently at B1 and working towards C1 in German.

I’m planning to do my masters in Germany (I’m currently in my third bachelors year in Korea), but I’ve heard that most masters programs are taught in English. So I’m wondering what's the actual benefit of reaching C1 in German would be for my masters.

One thing I’ve heard is that it might be easier to get into German taught programs since there’s less competition compared to the English taught ones. Also, I assume it would make it easier to find a part time job.

I know some people might point out the obvious that it helps with finding a job after graduating, but I’m more interested in the benefits during the application process and throughout the two years of my masters.

Danke!!!

p.s; This isn’t really about comparing B1 and C1, I just want to reach C1 so I can feel I have no problem with the language whatsoever.
