pen for bendy/swollen fingers?

Hey everyone, I love to write but my fingers bend too much and i end up hurting my hand when i write too much. I also have swollen joints/fingers most of the time and i’ve noticed when i have tasks involving my hands having to be active they will get “stuck” and more swollen. Been using thicker pens but it doesn’t feel like enough. Does anyone have a fave pen for writing or tools for their bendy fingers? thank you!

Bird owner, unsure which country to choose

Hey all. I have regained my spanish citizenship. I’m a native spanish speaker and english speaker. Professionally I’ve been a designer and worked in creative ops. My family in spain have been struggling with jobs over there for a while, to the point where most of my family around my age moved from spain to other european countries to get jobs. I’m also a bird owner and have heard it’s a nightmare getting birds over to europe. Looking for country where i’d have the best hope of being able to not put my birds somewhere else for the 30 day quarantine (one of them is special needs and needs meds) and also a safe way of bringing them over so they’re with me on my lap. I’ve looked everywhere and read the requirements for bringing a bird in and there seems to be a way to bring a bird in without doing the 30 day quarantine in europe if i bring all the letters but not sure if anyone else has done this. Also unsure what country to aim for with job apps for a designer/artist/trans man with a tech background. Thank you!

How do you all track changes in symptoms and pain?

Like many of you, I am a constellation of health issues that is really overwhelming to deal with. At a baseline, I'm dealing with at least 2-3 things every day, and I am in pain every single day. I want to do a better job of keeping track of my symptoms, better planning out when to call doctors for appointments, keeping logs of my pain, and interactions to bring to doc appts (or to even figure out what docs to see). I've tried apps like Bearable and Migraine Buddy but found that bexause I have so many symptoms and issues, it is an overwhelming log of clicking and buttons. I prefer writing stuff down anyways, but open to apps.

Some specific things I need help figuring out how to track:

  1. My nerve "pain attacks". I have small fiber neuropathy and I do scrambler to help with treatment, my doc wants me to keep log of when numbness goes away and when I get pain
  2. Food allergy problems. Suspected MCAS from one of my docs, I have an allergist appt coming up.
  3. Nerve issues (unrelated to small fiber neuropathy). Neck and head goes numb and vertigo with posture, i want to understand when that's happening and log it
  4. Medication intake
  5. Hand/finger swelling (idk why that happens, ANA and extra tests normal, but rheum wants me to keep an eye on it).
  6. general pain levels and migraines
  7. mobility aid use
  8. probably more things but i'm overwhelmed.

Maybe it's unrealistic to be able to track everytbing? I am just tired and want to log what's going on so docs can have more info to help me.
It doesn't help that I don't have a main EDS doc to help guide me; I'm bouncing from doc to doc n figuring stuff out myself.

TL;DR how do ya'll track all your many varying symptoms consistently without being super overwhelmed?

struggling to switch to dumbphone with disabilities

I go back and forth between a nokia kai os pbone and my smart phone for the primary reason of needing to use my medical apps or for medical needs. i have days where i am in bed all day and end up doing some work like messaging docs or my actual job stuff from my smart phone. i also google medication interactions frequently. I depend on quick add from email or text to my calendar for doc appts, and google maps or uber to get to an ER or my doc appts if i can't get a ride. I feel chained to my phone. I've tried blocking stuff on it like youtube or reddit but I always break the blocks. What ends up happening is on medically "good" days i am on my dumb phone and on bad weeks im on my smart phone. Now I feel like I juggle way too many devices and it's overwhelming (tried migrating many apps to ipad so i'm not barred to my phone but it's not helpful when i'm on the go). Anyone else dealing with similar? How did you cope?

[TOMT] Reality tv show from 2000s.

Started with an R maybe? Raina? Seemed to feature just one woman. She was either mixed race or very spray tanned. Had a shaved head and a pear shape body, kind of like the kardashians. This aired alongside shows like Jersey Shore. I liked it because I’d never seen a feminine woman with extremely short hair. She seemed very introverted and shy despite all the fame around her.

Artist + Designer, What laptop/computer should I buy?

Hello! I’m in desperate need of a new computer. I’m not able to sit at a desk for long periods of time due to nerve issues/disability, so I was thinking a laptop so I could work in bed. Overwhelmed by the tech jargon of pcs and computers! I don’t know what specs I need at all.

For work I’m a graphic designer/motion designer/animator. I work primarily in Adobe cc suite mostly in illustrator, psd, after effects, and premiere. For animation I will also work in clip studio paint, adobe after effects, sometimes premiere, and when I have the license i’ll work in toonboom. Interested in learning more 3D and doing more game jams on the side, I work in blender and learning unity. So having a laptop that can handle those programs (i do use a heavy amount of layers) while also being able to handle some 3D will be nice. I am not pro in 3D but would like a laptop to be able to handle it so I can continue to learn. Would be nice if I could game on it as well, current laptop is msi gs666 stealth 10sf and that hunk of plastic can’t handle gaming lol.

Would prefer if battery life at least 8 hours so I can go out and do work outside too.

I am open to computer build for a desk! Need to figure out seating so I can actually sit and work. Need to lean back i’m order to sit which usually means the mouse and keyboard are too far away. I have other illness’ that mean I’m in bed in pain a lot, would need a config to work with me being in bed too. rambling!

I have a wacom tablet with a touchscreen, but open if laptop has a touchscreen and pen!

USA, $1200 budget. Artist + Designer seeking laptop!

Country

USA

Budget

$1200, but can go higher. Seeing this as an investment. I’m disabled/ have chronic pain, and sitting upright at a desk is hard. Was thinking this would replace a desktop for now until I can more consistently work at a table.

Are you open to refurbs/used options?

Unsure

Screen size

14” and up to 16”. Still want to be able to fit laptop in a backpack. Can be bigger.

Weight limit

prefer max weight to be 5lbs, am flexible on this

Purpose

To do work. I am a designer and also do video editing and animation. On the side I am learning 3D and game design.

Form factor

Standard/clamshell, would be open to pen support, open to other for,s as long as they can handle programs listed above.

Intended usage

Animation working in clip studio paint, toonboom, adobe after effects, and psd. Design in illustrator, indesign. Video editing in adobe premiere and after effects. Learning 3D in Blender and some grease pencil. Learning unity. Would be nice if it could handle games like overwatch or baulders gate but not a deal breaker if it can’t. My current laptop despite being a gaming laptop cannot handle any hardcore gaming.

Desired battery life

The more the better, hoping at least 8.

Please list, in order of most important to least important, the priority between Size, Weight, Performance, Battery life

Performance, weight, battery life, size

Info/Requirements

I want to use this full time as my main computer. I want to learn more 3D and do more animation and pivot more towards that direction in my career, but I;m not at the point where I;m doing those all the time and need that. Having a laptop that can run my usual design tasks, animation tasks, motion design tasks, and video editing is super important, and having it be able to run blender+unity to learn is great.

nips vs no nips?

hey all i'm looking at getting top surgery but unsure about having nips vs no nips. Looking for advice bexause I'm not sure what I want. I have Heds and chronic pain and nerve problems so most of my concerns are healing.

Essentially my reason for wanting to keep my nips is it aligns the most with how I see myself but I'm concerned with nerve issues in healing and not liking the nipple placement result. I have small fiber neuropathy and not excited for more issues. My nips are super sensitive and all but one person in my life ever made them feel good. Usually my nipples are a source of nausea and disgust for me. I'm scared of them becoming perma hard post top surgery lol! Because of this if my nipples had a ton of issues pain/nerve-wise or were in a placement and I'd have to focus on them a lot I'd be upset. Has anyone post Top surgery felt better about their nips or didn't feel so grossed out about them?

My reasoning for wanting to not keep my nips is to avoid the above problems and have an easier healing time. My concerns are having more dysphoria and not passing super well. Right now I'm not on T and don't care about passing but I think in the future I might. Also I have Heds and worried about just having very obvious scarring without a nipple to distract haha.

TL;DR anyone who was unsure of keeping or removing nips what did you choose and how do you feel about it now?

Reccomendations for a top surgeon, not on T, DMV area?

Hey all, I'm so happy I found this group! I don't want to do T in order to get top surgery which is a requirement at some places unfortunately. I have cigna and i'm worried i may lose my job to layoffs so i want to get these things off ASAP!! I'd prefer to keep my nips if possible. I can travel if needed outside of dmv! Does anyone else get top surgery without T recommend their surgeon? Thank you!!
