Canada vs America: IMG Advice

Hi I am a Canadian studying internationally currently studying for step 2. I wanted to ask about advice on if it is worth applying to Canada as well as the US if my goal is IM only

My main concern is the extra exams I have to arrange for my timeline and studying additional material

I am also only planning on applying with 3 USCEs and 3 US LORs and am not sure if my application would be viewed negatively

Is buying an IPL worth it?

Hi so my current routine is using nair head to toe every other month basically. It takes about an hour of my time and about ~$25. I wanted to ask to those who were on the fence and finally got a machine if it was worth it and why?

The main things im hesitating on is the upfront cost, how long it takes for results and needing to maintain results defeating the purpose

Edit: sorry I noticed the consensus was IPL is worth it if youre pale and have dark hair so though I should mention im light brown and was wondering if anyone with a similar skin tone had good results and would recommend any products in particular

LOC vs paying cash

Hi I’m a third year med student wondering what you guys would suggest for my situation. My undergrad was in engineering and I was working first and second year as a software engineer during school and was able to pay tuition, living expenses and build up some savings. However now that I’m doing my clinical years I quit my job as I didn’t have the time I thought I would to balance both without sacrificing study time. I have cash saved up sitting in a HYSA (4.65%) and also have a LOC (4.2%). I have 2 years left and my tuition is ~75k and living expenses about ~20k. I have ~165k but am wondering if I should use my LOC or just pay cash. Also idk if it’s worth mentioning I am 24yo right now and don’t have any major things to take care of like family or any other debts or mortgages or car payments

TLDR: annual tuition 75k a year, 2 years left. Option of 165k in savings (HYSA 4.65%) or LOC (4.20% no grace period)

Semax vs Adamax

Hi people who have tried both which do you recommend? How different are they?

My source only has semax and I’m not sure if it’s worth going through the hoops of finding someone reputable if the difference is negligible

Question about USCE

Hey guys I’m a UK med student. I’m thinking of applying next cycle. I’m aiming for IM and been hearing from everyone that need 3 months of USCE and 3 LORs. Unfortunately I only have 2 6 week blocks off to do USCE in Winter 2026 and Summer 2027 before applying. I was wondering what you guys would suggest in terms of scheduling my USCE so I don’t have any weak points in regards to that (like should I just do 2 4 week rotations or ask after I get there if I can extend it)

Question about retainer

Hi I had braces when I was younger and after having them taken off my dentist put a permanent metal retainer on the back of my bottom teeth and gave me a plastic one to wear at night for my top.

It’s been 6 years and I have stopped wearing my plastic retainer and wanted to ask any dentist’s opinions on if it was possible to remove my bottom one and any downsides to it (I mainly wanna get rid of it as it causes a lot of plaque build up)
