Normal or abnormal exhaustion

I don’t know how people have normal lives with this job.

I just finished a long hard week, with my second to last shift spending extra hours working because of a bad abuse case. Then today with a shorter shift.

I’m exhausted and feel like doing nothing but sleeping/laying around after today’s shift. I have 0 battery now and I feel guilty. Im only in my 20s and I feel like people double or triple my age can do so much more than me. How do people have social lives and children when feeling this way?

My cats peeing everywhere

So my cat, who is 14, is currently in the process of trying to control his Diarrhea and face scratching and get his new diagnosed IBD under control. Has been on urinary food for at least 8 years.

Hes been a cat that will pee here and there on random things, such as walls, my dirty or clean clothes, etc. and it would happen maybe once every month or less. However, now that we started the pred, it’s way to often we’re constantly cleaning up his urine. Like he just peed on my dirty laundry basket. And we’re losing our minds.

Has anyone gone through similar problems like this? Is there anything to help it? The pred honestly hasn’t helped his diarrhea or face so I would love to get him OFF it. Thanks!

Casper test

I am taking my first Casper’s test tomorrow and I’m nervous, what should I aspect? Four of my schools require the Casper’s test (Ross, Oregon, PEI and Ontario). I’ve seen mixed opinions on studying for weeks and some people just YOLOing it.

Is there any good tips on how to answer questions? Are the questions veterinary themed? Any good youtube videos to watch to prepare? How long does this take? Any tips please:) I am very nervous!

Work & Creatine

I personally have zero energy to exercise after or days off from my job.

Does anyone here who doesn’t exercise take creatine (or some other supplement) and it seems to help them? I walk 10,000+ steps a day and of course hold/pick up heavy animals all day. I feel like I should have built muscle after 2+ years in vet med but I feel so weak.

IBD with Facial Scratching

Anyone else’s kitty with IBD have problems scratching their face raw? My kitty has been having diarrhea, scratching face raw and lost a pound.

My kitty is at the beginning stages of getting diagnosed with IBD and how to treat it. He changed over to Hills Z/D wet and dry, and loves it. During the switch, he also started prednisone. And has received B12 shots.

During this time, he’s had diarrhea everyday, metronidazole and probiotics (Fortiflora and Visbiome) both didn’t work. While on pred, he totally stopped scratching his face raw and all the fur grew back. So we switched to a tapering dose and the second he did every other day, he had a regular poop but he instantly started scratching his face again. He keeps going between liquid and more formed poo while on every other day pred.

Has anyone’s cat had Diarrhea from pred and had issues with facial scratching, and what helped for you?

I finally thoughts are either the food or pred is continuing the diarrhea. He’s super easy with food but he can smell any type of medication in his food (literally tasteless/smell-less powder). Also anyone have novel protein wet food brands that are terribly expensive.

Best Food for IBD

What food seemed to help your cat the most and they actually liked?

Just started Hills Z/d wet and dry and they love it, but I’ve also seen Royal Canin HP or novel protein, Purina HP.

Diarrrheaaaaa

My cat just got diagnosed with suspected IBD. he just started pred, B12 injections, and Hills z/d food.

How long will it take for my cat to stop having diarrhea on this new food🥲😅 we were slowly transitioning but even a little cause him diarrhea. The vet gave us metronidazole and said just switch him to it and stop the slow transition.

I added Fortiflora but nothing has helped. Even the metro. Will this be weeks or more like days 😅 thanks!

IBD vs GI Lymphoma Ultrasound advice

Hello all!

My vet just recommended for my senior kitty (14year old neutered) to get an ultrasound after symptoms and BW. She is nervous he may have GI lymphoma vs IBD. Last 8 months started getting ear infections, scratching face raw, and getting random V/D. Adding Purina EN helped the V/D a lot, but if you give him any other snack/food, he’ll have straight diarrhea.

For all the people who had their cat get an ultrasound for GI Lymphoma vs IBD, did you get good results? They may have to do an FNA/needle aspirate, and if you did that did that give you good results too? Any advice would be lovely thanks🩷

Please help!

This is my pond, it used to be beautiful. Every year we have to do a huge clean out where we empty the whole thing, scrub and take out the algae, put all the tadpoles in a tank, then refill and put the tadpoles in.

However this year there’s gotta be over 70 tadpoles. Sadly all our fish died from stupid workers putting chemicals in the tree that leaked into our pond (workers told us it was safe).

Anyone have any recommendations of what fish/snails with help with all this algae and can live outside year round in PA. We cannot control it (multi filters already in pond). Thanks!

Anxiety with OCD tendencies or OCD

Hello! I started this year trying to figure out all my mental health problems (going to therapist and psychiatrist). I have been diagnosed with anxiety/depression/ADHD, and my anxiety meds have definitely been helping. However I brought up that I think I could have OCD and have been talking with my therapist about it for a few weeks.

I always just thought some of the things I was doing was just quirks I had, and some of them didn’t really bother me but now I’m like, is that OCD? I feel like it became more of a thing after a very bad relationship, but I probably had quirks before (have a hard time remembering past events).

Some quirks I have include:
• if I pass a dead animal on the side of the road, I always say a specific “prayer” for the animal
• I prefer numbers at even numbers/5s. So music, car honks, but if I see someone else turn music at an odd number I’m like what??? But it doesn’t bother me, I just cant do it.
• I work for a vet and have to put charges in every day for different clients. I don’t have to do a specific amount of checks (for examle 3 checks everytime), but I have to do it until It feels correct (takes at least 6 times but normally like 10+ checks)
•when I check my doors closed, just have to do it until it feels right (so 3+ times)
• I think I ruminate a lot on situations and I think I ruminated really badly in my relationship that it made me even more depressed. Always thinking of the worst 24/7. I also had weird food obsessions in the relationship where I had to eat the same exact food for breakfast or dinner every day for months and then I switched. Aka I ate a literal jar of pickles every single day for 2+ months.
•health anxiety- could just have health PTSD from being a very sick child, however I’m always thinking of the worst. Had a bad stomach ache for 2 weeks last month (turns out from my new protein powder), and I went down a rabbit hole that I may have colon cancer that progressed or ibd or etc.
• like things a certain way, I don’t feel stressed when people mess it up but I HAVE TO fix it.
• hate the unknown, aka I need a yes or no answer. I will research something until I know all the info.

Maybe I just have anxiety, my therapist thinks I have anxiety with OCD tendencies and i hate the unknown so much (gray area), like just tell me yes or no😂. Please send me your insight:)
