precautions before pulling the trigger on a rep for this vintage t&co necklace?

I'm thinking about working with opus atelier to make this necklace... this is my first time doing a custom necklace. Anything specific about this necklace (or the process in general) that I should be cautious of/case-out before buying? For example, I think i'll have to pay very close attention to the texture of the grooves on the original strands versus the texture grooves on the opus strands.

  • 18kt Yellow Gold
  • 16.4" in length
  • 30 strands
  • 5mm Wide (together at the clasp. Each strand is not 5mm)
  • 43.3 Grams

Preliminary quote from opus is $7780.

Also, do you guys think there's a better clasp for daily wear rather than the one on this original? Any insight is appreciated <3

Growing pains, regrets, and lessons from my first custom lab (Fiorese, Sonia)

Ring Details:

  • Fancy vivid pink, pear shaped 1ct lab diamond
  • 2 kite-shaped sapphires
  • 18k yellow gold
  • Blue high-tech ceramic
  • $1,175 USD
  • Manufacturer: Fiorese (Sonia)
  • Reddit didn't allow videos in the gallery, so here are some of sonia's videos (one, two)

Regrets & Lessons:

  • it's too small :( the proportions are wonky on my finger. I have a 1ct-emerald cut CZ and that looked like a nice size on my index finger, so I thought a 1ct pear would look nice too. But this pear looks freakishly small and throws off the proportions. The ring does look slightly better on my ring finger, but I didn't size it for that finger, and re-sizing it will be a bitch because of the ceramic.
  • Sonia had warned me that the diamond looks more pale in person, while richer in photos. I wish I had given that more consideration. Photos don't capture how pale the diamond looks in person. I wanted a rich, red-leaning pink, but to my naked eye it's more of a cotton candy pink :(
  • There's nothing wrong with the craftsmanship, so it's not eligible to return. Kind of bummed that I'm stuck with it.
  • Sonia was a gem though. 10/10, no complaints. I just wish I had picked a different stone (in size and color).

Minor annoyance, when the first train of the day is late

Shady Grove does a spectacular job on M-F departing the station promptly at 5am. They pretty consistently drop the ball on the first train of Saturdays. Today we left 5 mins late, due to a combination of the train pulling up late to the platform, and then having to wait for a different driver to take helm of the train. Then of course the delays accumulated, including a random stop over the Grosvenor Outerloop for a few minutes.

I got to Gallery Place 10 minutes past the scheduled arrival. Meaning I missed Green connection that I normally catch at 6:35am. Ultimately, Shady Grove’s inability to depart on time cost me 15 minutes.

I KNOW departing on time for the first train of the day is possible. It happens seamlessly on M-F. Please do better on Saturdays, Shady Grove.
