What are your nominations for worst bus stops?
I nominate this one, which is basically on an on-ramp to Kenilworth Ave (a highway at this location) with no pedestrian infrastructure at all.

saw someone else post theirs and wanted to show mine in action!!!
shout out to metro and wmata for all they do and for such a fun pop up
I was the only person on a double decker shuttle bus from Medical Center to Friendship Heights this morning. Great view!
Big haul from Metro U. I'm super hyped to wear the jacket and cardigan this autumn and winter!! The jacket is super warm and comfy (almost a bit big aha...), and the cardigan is lovely. I also got a new cloth bag, a badge holder, new keychain, stickers, and two Metro wands!! One I am giving to someone who requested one earlier.
I also picked up the Silver Spring and U-Pass trading cards. I'm still looking for the Reston Town Center card, if anyone is willing to trade. As for the last picture.. if anyone knows how to fix this split in the 3D printed material, let me know please!!
I tried to wave it in the general direction of C53, but it may not have taken.
Not sure what it is, but I was glad to get one at the popup shop today! And I was finally able to get that water bottle with the station stickers.
After spending newly 90 minute traveling between Farragut West and Cheverly, sitting on the platform at Cheverly for ~20 of those minutes, Metro just offloaded the entire train and told us it was out of service. No mention of other trains or bus shuttle, just dumped us.
I'm on a train to Largo. We stopped at Virginia Square and Clarendon for several minutes each. Is there something happening up the line?
MoCo Councilmember Evan Glass recently toured the Red Line construction and shared some new progress photos. They're clearly making continued progress and appear to still be on track.

totally fine if the up escalator needs to be turned off for maintenance, repairs and cleaning but wmata i plead and beg that the escalator that does work is switched to the up direction when this happens ?
see real life proof at the georgia ave/petworth exit (left which goes up is turned off, right is turned on for the down direction)
Yeah. I know crazy. This morning at New Carrolton on the orange line to vienna leaving around 9:44 am, someone came right after the doors had closed and then he (or she but most probably a he, I didn't get a good look at them) just banged on the doors and...it worked? Considering that the train pulled away very very shortly after I am not sure if the driver had the time to reopen the doors? Is this normal?
I put together a detailed post last month on Metrobus fare evasion, going through WMATA's metrics to understand how we got to the current situation: https://www.reddit.com/r/WMATA/comments/1uyzisf/bus_fare_evasion_and_enforcement_what_the_numbers/
A key takeaway was that WMATA's major initiative on bus fare evasion was having some effect. Bus fare payment for June 2026 was ~37%, a level that WMATA hadn't had since January 2023. Still a national outlier in fare evasion, but real progress.
Unfortunately, that progress has stalled after just a month. WMATA released their bus ridership data for July 2026, and the fare payment rate is stuck at ~36%. That's not anywhere near the sustained progress that's needed.
First time I’ve ever been fare checked on BART!
I’m 100% in favor of enforcement of fare collection and citing fare evaders. I paid with a credit card, so his scanner just checked to see if my card was used at the gate today. Took 2 seconds. Zero fare evaders in this car, btw.
Everyone’s fare was checked, so no random enforcement. Three of them walked the length of the train- Yellow Line from Union City to Richmond.
After having a dude walk car-to-car with a lit blunt earlier this week, I’d love to have more BART police presence. I think one of the keys to having BART be a viable service is that riders feel safe and facilities are cleanish.
Don’t want anyone arriving to line up for the pop up just to realize it’s not opening today
I found a white coffee tumbler on the Red Line Friday (08/14) and took it home. I figured “lost and found” probably wouldn’t do anything, so here I am. If you or someone you know left a white coffee tumbler on the Red Line, hit me up with a good description of it (like, what’s the logo on it? What color is the lid?) and I’ll be happy to meet up at a public place to hand it over. On a different note, after how long without someone claiming it can I keep it, guilt-free? 🫠😔
I checked last night and the website said August 17. I take a giant detour to be there before 10am and they added a countdown to the website and now it’s tomorrow. I know WMATA has piss poor communications, but this is low even by their standards. I’ll going to pass now. If they can’t be bothered to provide reasonable updates, I won’t be bothered to give them $10 for a plastic pin.
