AIBTS for feeling hurt when my boss joked about my work ethic in front of the whole team?
During our weekly team meeting today, my boss was going over project deadlines. He looked directly at me and laughed, saying, "And let's hope it doesn't take you three business days to reply to this one." Everyone chuckled, but I actually pride myself on being fast and working hard. When I brought it up to a coworker later, they told me it was just a joke and I need to relax. Now I’m wondering if I’m just taking things way too personally.
Every time I hold a freshly poured cup of hot coffee, my brain tells me to just toss it into the air.
I don't want to burn myself, I don't want to clean up a massive sticky mess, and I actively want to drink the coffee. But the exact moment I lift the mug, a voice in my head just goes, "Throw it like a football. Do it right now." It takes actual conscious effort to just walk to the living room normally.
We are entirely shaped by decisions we can't even remember making.
Think about a random, tiny choice you made five years ago—like choosing a specific coffee shop or taking a different route home. That single, mundane moment could have indirectly led to you meeting your current best friend, finding your job, or avoiding an accident. We like to think we are in total control, but our lives are heavily dictated by a massive chain reaction of forgotten split-second choices.
A great relationship doesn’t just happen; it’s a daily choice to keep building.
The honeymoon phase is easy because biology does the heavy lifting. But the real love kicks in when things get a bit routine and you still look at your partner and think, "Yeah, I’m choosing you again today." It's about putting in the work even when you aren't feeling particularly romantic.
