Dosage increase question

I’m currently on 1.0mg and just took my 4th dose of that amount. I’m seeing my doctor again shortly and I’m not sure if I should request to go up or not. I don’t think I’m experiencing the full effects yet because I still have a fair bit of food noise and my appetite has not changed a lot. But it’s definitely much easier to reign myself in or turn down treats. I have been slowly but steadily losing.

Does anyone know if the evidence shows that it’s better to wait to increase dose in terms of overall weight loss? I like the idea of still having some wiggle room with dose increases if I were to plateau, but I also don’t want to miss out on the full benefits of the medication. Any thoughts/advice/experiences?

Food noise

Hi everyone, I am currently taking generic semaglutide and am on the 1.0 mg dose. My weight has been decreasing but that has taken a lot of effort on my part. I still experience a lot of food noise but it’s a bit easier to set it aside and take more control over my eating. I feel like I also still have a pretty strong appetite. I am debating if I should stay at my current dose if it’s “working” to leave room to go up later if I plateau, or if I should go up in hopes that the food noise drops off? I think my doctor will go with whatever I request so I’d like to consider and be prepared. Switching to a different med is likely not to be an option for me due to pricing. Would love to hear your input or experiences!

Loose skin

I have a little over 100 lbs to lose (already lost 28 lbs since May, so so so thrilled😁) and I am curious how much loose skin to expect. I am in my thirties and pretty tall. For those who have lost over 100 lbs, do you have quite a bit of loose skin? Any tips to prevent that other than trying to lose at a slow and steady rate?

Results

I’d love to see a sampling of what results all looking like for people taking semaglutide. Starting weight, current weight/weight lost, how long you’ve been on it, how happy you are with how it’s working, etc.

I started at 324 lbs on 0.25mg semaglutide at the beginning of June, then up to 0.5 at the beginning of July. I’ve lost 8 lbs but I’ve felt like I’ve had to work pretty hard for that, I have not had the appetite surpression or reduction in food noise/cravings that I’ve hoped for. I’m hoping that going up to 1.0 in a couple of weeks will help me feel the full effects!

Please feel free to share if you are willing!

Injection site

Who has noticed a difference in effectiveness based on injection site? So far I have done my first two injections in my thigh and haven’t noticed any significant effects. I am due for my third dose of 0.25 tomorrow. I’m debating if I should try injecting in the stomach, if that might help me feel the effects better? Or does it not really matter?

Slow start

I started on generic semaglutide a week and a half ago, so I have taken 2x0.25 doses at this point. I have not noticed significant craving reduction, appetite suppression, or weight loss so far. The only effects I’ve experienced have been very minor reduction in cravings and some diarrhea and gas a day or two after my injections.

Reading online it seems like some people don’t notice much effect until the 1.0 dose, but I feel like this sub is full of super responders and it’s a bad sign that it hasn’t done much for me yet.

Anyone else who didn’t notice much effect on the lower dose who went on to find it really effective at a higher dose and who lost lots of wait on semaglutide? I’m worried I’m not gonna respond to it but this is the only med I can afford to take.

Getting the hang of it!

I started doing dip nails in January and have slowly been getting the hang of it. Up until now I have been using Glamrdip but I needed new liquids and decided to try West Coast Dips. I also couldn’t help but order a few of their powders to try. I was very happy with the applicator brushes and how easy they made the application. I also replaced my brush with a fresh one that was not all crusty from my first few attempts. Any tips for cleaning brushes (like the kind you use to brush off excess powder)?

Here is my latest attempt:
Fanny Pack by West coast dips - 4 layers plus two clear layers (clear by Glamrdip). It’s pretty thick - this was my first attempt at one that had little bits in it. I am pleased with how much control I had in the cuticle are.

First dose - getting started

I just got my first prescription filled and am so excited to start! I was originally planning to start tonight because I don’t have much going on tomorrow, but I do have plans Saturday that involve being in a car with others for most of the day/not always being near a toilet. Should I wait until Saturday evening? When do the worst side effects usually kick in and how long do they usually last? In general, I probably prefer to take it on a Thursday or Friday because of my work schedule, so should I wait until next week?

Getting started with Semaglutide in Canada

I am looking for advice about going on a generic semaglutide. I’m located in Canada and generics have just been approved and should become available shortly. I have not pursued a GLP-1 up until this point due to the cost, but I will be able to afford it now with the expected lower pricing. I’ve tried dieting many times over the years but I last a short time and gain it all back plus more. I want to lose weight so I can keep up better with my young kids and be around longer and be healthier for them.

I think I prefer to try going through my family doctor first. Has anyone in Canada had issues getting prescribed ozempic off label for weight loss? Does anyone know if it will be possible to get the generics without a T2D diagnosis? I do not have type two diabetes but I do have a BMI of over 40. Any idea of how logistics will work for this? Can I just ask my doctor to prescribe the generic even if it’s not available yet?

I am also nervous about telling close friends and family. I’m not sure that I do want to tell but I’m sure people will wonder at some point. Curious if anyone has pointers on that as well.
