Nail stickers with a dip manicure

I have some nail stickers I really want to use. I'm wondering if there are any tips on how to do it correctly. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

Glamrdip Almond tips

First set with tips, I have used the Glamrdip Almond. Has anyone tried using other brand tips with this dip?

I know the edges are slightly messy x

Is glamrdip a total scam or did I get a batch of bad liquids?

For context, I have been doing dip for quite a few years with different brands and never had any problem. I bought a glamrdip kit, I tried twice, and both times the same thing happened. I do all the steps like they recommend (the same steps I always do with different brands), but after the seal, when I try to file them, this happens (picture attached). It's like the seal is just not working and the dip doesn't dry. Last time I tried waiting 10 WHOLE MINUTES, and it still never dried.

Has this happened to anyone else? I really wanted to like glamrdip because of all their pretty colours but at this point I'm starting to wonder it's just a scam?

Attempt number 3 and a thank you

I’d like to start with a thank you to everyone who gave me advice last week when I posted. It has really helped and this set it much much better than last week.

I’m determined to master dip. I’ve developed a gel allergy and I was absolutely gutted that I didn’t think I’d be able to have nails again. But my fingers were so sore I knew I’d never be able to have gel again. So I’m going to keep doing new dip sets until I get it right.

things to work on next time will be being more patient for my top coat to dry and trying to be a bit neater on my thumbs, for some reason I find them harder?!?

Fire Wielder

Feeling like a fire wielder in West Coast Dips Tequila Sunrise (with Nugenesis clear encapsulating it.) My baby niece is obsessed lol.

I am starting to have doubts about whether I made the right choice.

I took an expensive course where I received too little instruction. Unfortunately, I am realizing this more and more now.

In the salon where I learned it, they take 1 hour for dip powder nails and 1.5 hours for removal and reapplication.

It takes me an incredibly long time just to remove them. I am becoming more insecure by the day. I sleep poorly because of this. I have tinnitus, hyperacusis, and am hard of hearing, which is why I made this choice, also because I absolutely love beauty and being creative. I don't know how to move forward. I wanted my own salon so badly. Does anyone here have experience with this?

What happened to my manicure?

Hello! This was my 2nd time I did my nails with dip powder and while I love the colour, I'm wondering what happened that all my nails on my non dominant hand look like this, almost like the bubbles you can get with common nail polish when you shake it before applying.

My steps where the following, I did one nail at a time except the top coat layers:

Buff nail

Primer

1st layer base coat and clear powder

2nd layer base coat and clear powder

3rd layer base coat and colour powder

4th layer base coat and colour powder

5th layer base coat and clear powder

Activator

Filing

Activator

After I did that to all my nails I put on 2 layers of top coat.

All layers were as thin as I could do them. Did I maybe file to much? I have really no idea and would love you opinions on it.

Edit: it's only on my left, non dominant hand. And please excuse the hair, my dogs shed like crazy and their hair is literally everywhere. 🙄

2nd Edit: I'm using a system called dipdrip, it's one of the few nail dip powder systems that are available in Germany.

Second timer

This is my second time trying the dip powder. The last coat would take 20 mintues to dry! Is this normal? Any tips to prevent the chipping too soon?

Looking for Dip Powder recommendations

Live in Canada so looking for something available here. Trying to grow out my natural nails and not pay to get them done all the time. I have done uv gel and gel x in past at home but they never look as good as salon because I can never get them super smooth. Thinking dip might be the way to go for summer while I get them growing and with how much I’m outside and using hands for things I don’t want to have to use tips.

WHY 😭

Why is my top coat brush hardening after 1 or 2 nails NO MATTER WHAT?!

I know activator is likely the culprit. But I've waited over 10 min from application of activator before top coat and it's still hardening. What's happening?!

First time trying any sort of French tips with dip. Steep learning curve but I am absolutely happy with the result.

Going to take some getting used too and not sure it will work the way I did it for how short I keep my nails but a promising first try with this method!

Jagged edges

I’ve been doing my nails for several years now and seem to be getting pretty good at a lot of the common mistakes.

The one issue I keep having is jagged, looking edges as they grow out. Any time I use a toothpick or cuticle stick to try to even it out during application I feel like it just leaves a big gap between my cuticle and the color making it look like it’s already grown out. Is that the only fix for jagged edges like this? Is it a prep issue? Anything else? All tips and tricks appreciate!

Troubleshooting dip powder + nail stamping

I've been doing dip on my natural nails successfully for years, exclusively with Revel liquids and powders because they just worked really well for me right out of the box. I typically wear a mid to long almond shape and they last 3-4 weeks without chipping, cracking, or lifting with my lifestyle. My normal process is: remove previous set w acetone > trim/shape free edge > push/trim cuticle > buff nail plate > skinny layer of clear dip powder to build apex > 2x layers of color dip powder > 1x layer of clear dip powder > activate > shape/file > activate > 2x layers of dip top coat.

Recently though I've been obsessed with nail stamping because it brings me such childlike joy to have pretty art on my nails. I bought a small set of maniology supplies and tested just putting sticky base & stamps & normal polish clear coat over the top of a finished and sealed dip set that I buffed to help it stick. This did work, but the normal polish was peeling after just a few days and ruined the finish/art pretty quick.

Then I tested putting on stamps "sandwiched" between my final color powder layer and my top clear powder with their corresponding sticky base & top coat. This worked as well and the art stayed perfect the whole set, but I couldn't file & shape the final dipped nails very well due to trying to protect the art, so those came out with poor shape & surfaces despite lasting the whole set without issue.

My most recent attempt I thought went well... but after a few days I'm getting serious chipping and separating like I've never seen before (before and current pictures shown). This round I started as normal but activated and shaped after my color powder layers, then stamped & normal polish clear coat, then clear dip powder > activate > buff > activate > dip top coat x2.

In my testing I've found:

-Revel dip top coat does not play nice with stamping polish. I have to use a stamping top coat to keep it from smudging/bleeding the art.

-Due to the extra layers of normal polishes I seem to be flooding/bulking around my cuticles way more than I'd like.

-Water-based top coat worked much better than the maniology smudge proof top coat, so that's what I've run the full set tests with so far.

-I have to use the sticky base coat to get my stamps to adhere to the nail at any stage. (Disability keeps me from moving fast enough for just the straight stamps to work).

-I cannot use uv gels so some other options on how to tackle this are inaccessible for me.

So I'll take anything you pals can suggest. Different liquids/powders, different layers or orders, or just anything that might be helpful. I'm desperate to incorporate beautiful art with my durable, protective and reliable dip powder nails!

TL;DR: Pretty please, does anyone have a solid recipe or experience doing nail stamping art in addition to sturdy dip nails with no uv gels?

HELP! Nails yellowed within 6 hours of top coat…?

I removed the background because it was harder to see the yellowing. But I did my nails this morning in Erica by revel. I followed the same steps I have forever, the only difference is that I used an Olive and June quick dry topcoat instead of the beauty secrets gel-like top coat I usually do. I used the OJ topcoat when I got back into dipping like 6-8 months ago and never had any issues like this. The thumb is definitely the worst.

It’s been about 6 hours and I noticed my nails looked a little yellow so I removed the top coat hoping that would fix it but no luck… photo is after I took the top coat off.

Any tips for fixing this or answers as to why this happened would be super helpful since I’m leaving for a trip in the morning!

If I just apply another layer of dip will that fix it? Or a gel polish?

set 73: 🎆🎇

may be a bit dark for summer but I couldn’t resist! the color is pyromancer by CNDD, one of my favorites. very hard to capture the color accurately in photos, but it’s either black with reddish flashes in the shade or almost blue in the sun. I love it so much!!

also, a few sets ago I “unlocked” some sort of skill and now my cuticles have never been cleaner! Idk what it is, but I’m very happy with how my sets are coming out now 🤩. they have been lasting the full 2 weeks without lifting also, only the pointer fingers start to come up around then!

First attempt - ouch

This is my first ever attempt. My cuticles are not doing well! Constant scraping between the layers and the filing really irritated them, and I still got some powder on them, any advice?

Also I have seen multiple tutorials about thin base layers and I think I took it too far. My brush was almost dry each layer, resulting in the powder sticking unevenly, and then the result was really bumpy and I needed way too many layers to cover all the gaps 😅 On my other hand I dried the brush less and the result was better.

Why did the salon pop off my dip instead of soaking them?

I've been to the salon several times before I leave always soaked off my previous dip. And they've always done a good job. But this time I went they just took a fake nail and slid it under and popped it off and when they popped it off it literally broke all of my nails off when I wanted my nails to be the same length it was already at. I love having long nails and my nails grow pretty long. I asked them don't they usually soak the dip off and they said no. And my nails don't even look good. They're rough uneven and they said it's cat eye but it doesn't look like it. There's obviously more polished in some areas of the nail than others.

I actually hate my nails and I want to cry 😭 someone please and make me feel better about my nails 😭😭😭
