Okay, how many Umineko pop-up shops are we getting this year?! 😂❤️

There’s already another new Umineko POP-UP SHOP coming! And this time it’s happening at the Ikebukuro Skima Store by eeo from November 25th to December 8th, 2026.

The new merchandise features a gorgeous Beatrice birthday illustration by Higashi Kako, along with a whole bunch of new goods! 🎂🌹✨

What’s honestly crazy to me is how much new Umineko merchandise we’ve been getting lately. We had the eeo POP-UP STORE in September, another POP-UP in Shinjuku in October, the BOOKOFF collaboration, and now another one in November/December. 😭

I'm absolutely NOT complaining — quite the opposite. 😂

It’s just amazing to see Umineko getting this much new merch and attention in 2026, especially after all these years.

Are we entering an Umineko merch renaissance?! 👀🌹

I hope we will get some new figurines someday 😭

We’re getting an Umineko no Naku Koro ni × BOOKOFF collaboration! ✨

This time we’re getting a gorgeous wedding-themed new illustration featuring the witches and characters in beautiful dresses 🌹

The collaboration will run from October 2nd to November 1st, 2026 at participating BOOKOFF stores in Japan.

The new art is absolutely gorgeous 💕

Sad news for Umineko fans…

Cafe Quadrillion/Kuwadorian (喫茶・九羽鳥庵) has announced that it will unfortunately be closing its doors on September 28th, 2026.

According to the announcement, the closure is due to contractual issues. The staff say they held discussions in an attempt to resolve the situation, but unfortunately no solution could be reached.

It’s really heartbreaking to see such a special place for Umineko fans disappear 🥀

So now is the last chance to visit it. I’m really sad that I never got the chance to visit. I would have loved to experience this place for myself

I really hope the people behind it will be able to create something new in the future. ❤️

Ado, one of Japan’s biggest and most recognizable singers, known for hits like Usseewa and her music for One Piece Red, is a big Higurashi fan and is currently streaming SILENT HILL f.

Ryukishi07 himself replied to Ado saying that he hopes that “someday” he can borrow her singing voice for one of his works and she was happy about that 👀

So... could we potentially see an Ado × Ryukishi07 song/collab in the future? 🤔

Imagine Ado singing a song for a new When They Cry project... 😭🔥

I would absolutely LOVE to see this happen 💕

I’m honestly so happy that a Higurashi manga is finally making its way to Germany at all! 🥹❤️

AniMachon has officially licensed Higurashi Oni for a German release, with Volume 1 currently scheduled for November 2026, including a Limited Edition with an Acrylic Stand.

This is especially exciting because I really hope this could open the door for the main Higurashi manga series to finally be licensed in Germany as well. There are still no Higurashi manga that German fans have never had an official release for.

And there’s even more reason to be hopeful: AniMachon has said that they are also trying to bring other Ryukishi07 titles to Germany.

So hopefully this is just the beginning!

It's amazing to see that Higurashi is still reaching so many people after all these years ❤️

And with a new Higurashi TV anime on the way, it feels like we're entering another exciting chapter for the series!

Overall I really enjoyed it.

I don't think it reached the emotional impact of some of Key's strongest titles like Clannad, Air, Kanon or Little Busters, nor would I personally rank it alongside Ryukishis When They Cry works. That said, I still found it to be a genuinely emotional and enjoyable story with a lot of heart. I especially liked its themes and the atmosphere it created.

One thing I've been wondering about is whether there could be any "hidden" references or thematic connections to the "loopers" in the When They Cry series. I'm not suggesting they're part of the same universe, but Ryukishi often revisits similar ideas, themes, and symbolism across different works.

Do you think there are any intentional parallels or subtle references? Or do you see LOOPERS as a completely standalone story with no connection beyond sharing the concept of loops?

And how do you liked the VN overall?

I'd love to hear your thoughts, both on the VN itself and on any possible connections you may have noticed.

It's a shame that it never became more popular.

I think one of the biggest reasons is that the anime adaptation wasn't particularly well received. It rushed the story, left out a lot of important character development and explanations, the story was rushed and many people who only watched the anime came away disappointed.

Another reason is that the visual novel never received an official English translation. That alone made it much harder for international fans to experience the story the way it was intended.

Personally, I think the VN is genuinely worth reading. It explores interesting themes and folklore, especially surrounding Japanese mythology, traditions, social isolation, discrimination, and how fear and superstition can shape an entire community. It has that classic Ryukishi07 feeling of slowly uncovering the truth behind a seemingly ordinary town.

And can we talk about the character designs and art works? I also absolutely love the PEACH-PIT's art works. I still think they're some of the most beautiful in any Ryukishi07 work. The art style has such a unique mytery atmosphere.

I wonder why it never really took off. Was it the anime? The lack of an official translation? The marketing? Or something else? What do you think?

I absolutely love her design. The black, white, and red color palette is simple but incredibly striking, and it perfectly matches her mysterious and unsettling personality.

Even among all of Ryukishi07's characters, Higanbana immediately stands out to me.
