A handmade electronic cross necklace inspired by Serial Experiments Lain. ✞　

I created startup and shutdown animations, along with various screen graphics and display content. It‘s also rechargeable via USB-C. Designed, soldered, assembled and programmed all by me, please allow around 2 weeks for production.

The engraving on the back can be customized.

im a bit of a larper, i've never used a window manager before, too stuck with desktop environments, quite hard to get used to.

This is also gentoo based, so thats been fun, i spent an hour trying to get into a matrix chat room to no success, lol.

My trackpad doesnt work and i need to rely on a usb mouse.

I got a birthday present from my boyfriend today, and I was honestly really shocked when I opened it.

He got me the Japanese 'Serial Experiments Lain: an omnipresence in wired' artbook from 1999. It's actually the original one, not the reprint. With the clear cover, Obi, everything - and it looks like it's brand new.

I think I also got myself some husband material in the long run. 😂

"or away from algorithms" Idk if it's just me, but over the last two years I've noticed that media that used to be totally hidden is getting completely ruined by social media. Anime and manga that used to be known only by people who actually understand that type of art are suddenly everywhere. Everyone talks abt them now, even people who have never touched the actual source material.

When smth becomes extremely famous, it loses its uniqueness. In a world overrun by AI slop, people are just desperate to act like they have a "niche taste." But when everyone thinks they're unique, no one actually is. They're all just influenced by the exact same algorithms, to the point where having a real personal taste starts to feel performative. Anyone else tired of this?

For the past while I've been building lainarchive.com, a place that keeps everything about Serial Experiments Lain in one spot, hosted on my own server so it doesn't disappear when other sites do.

• All 13 episodes, Japanese with subtitles and the English dub, streamable and downloadable
• All 716 files of the PlayStation game, with their audio or video and transcripts in English and Japanese, plus the full game script in order
• 53 scanned art books, guides, booklets, disc covers and magazine articles, readable page by page or as PDFs
• Every disc release: the Japanese lif volumes, the boxes up to the Blu-ray, and the releases abroad, with disc images to download
• The soundtracks in lossless FLAC, and a small music player on the site
• Interviews, staff, characters, merchandise, press and a timeline, with sources for every fact (unconfirmed ones are marked)
• Saved copies of the outside pages it cites, so sources stay readable after they go offline

It's one person and one small home server, so big downloads are shared fairly (a couple at a time per person).
