Vardek Crom
Had this guy laying around forever and now I’ve painted him up to act as a chaos champion in a combined army next to a main contingent of beastmen.
90s Skink Cavalry
Inxi-Huinzi, Tichi-Huichi and his raiders. While I could just strip the color of many of my 90s lizardmen that I got when I was a kid, i never got my hands on any of the riders – just never saw them at my local hobbystore. But they‘ve always been a dream of mine as a kid so when I started this project I looked out for them online and could fulfill a childhood dream of mine.
I switched the horned-one from Inxi-Huinzi to Tichi-Huichi because I just think the latter is the better model and more suited as a skink-chieftain of some sort.
90s Salamander
Fun thing about this project is the colorshemes. Since you don’t have armor or uniforms I love to think about the colors of the different reptiles and amphibians. Going for the yellow/brown in the lizardmen themselves I try to look for contrast in the creatures they are fielding. For the salamander I imagined something aquatic, thinking about them as some comparable big ambhibian like a Themnospondyl from the Triassic.
Kralmaw
That’s probably one of my favorite models ever – kind of an oldshool, Krampus-Druid.
Last week I've posted the color scheme I've decided on. Since then I've finished some skinks, their chieftain and a little bit of terrain that goes along with this project.
Stript the paint of my (metal) Lizardmen that I got as a kid 25 years ago and bought up on a bunch of the plastic skinks and saurus that came with the 5E starterbox in 1996.
I've always loved the Alan Perry range of the 90s lizardmen. I can still remember how disappointed i was as a 12yo in 2003 when they "updated" the range to the style they still use nowadays more or less – pondering over how they "ruined skinks" because lorewise they are supposed to be amphibians and they put fat scales on their backs, like those on the saurus warriors...
But i digress: Amphibians! Thinking about what colorscheme i want to use for this new-old-project I've googled my way trough the amphibian kingdom and decided on a brown/yellow that is found again and again among newts (this one, with the pointy fade from brown to yellow is inspired by the "swordtail newt" in particular).
Had great fun, with the model and the scheme and with summer ahead I am so looking forward to this tropical project.
