Hi all,

I’ve been working on my second project and would like to hear some feedback on the clips
I’ve been posting on the game’s instagram page. Currently, I’ve been posting pretty much everything on there. It’s a way to keep myself motivated as well as give me an overall idea of where I’m at in the project, and of course, most importantly, get people’s opinions and feedback.

The project started on June 24th and I think I’ve done pretty well so far. Long story short; it’s about a man taking a lonely journey through a desert to spread the ashes of his late grandfather at the temple that’s about a day’s walk from the village. It will have some survival elements, exploration, combat, and world navigation (think Outward)

As I work through the game’s various systems, I’d love to hear about what could be improved upon as I tend to go a little blind when I’m working on projects and can’t see other angles. All feedback will be appreciated.

Need feedback

Hi all,

I’ve finally “finished” my first game, Sandrotten Ekera (free on steam) and I’m looking for genuine, unfiltered feedback from players so I can improve for my next project.

If anyone would like to leave a review (honest reviews only please) I’d greatly appreciate it

Hi all,

I'm looking for some input on what the general consensus is as far as level variety, gameplay loops, and other gameplay and replayability aspects for my endless horde game.

To preface this post, for context: I've released a game that's currently still being polished, systems reworked, new content being added, which includes levels and some features which I will be discussing in this post.

The game is free, and currently has 3 levels that can be unlocked by reaching a specific high score in any of the levels.

The first level is of course unlocked from the start. Its a pretty standard "hell" map, named Ekera, with an enemy spawner in the center that spawns 4 types of enemies (grunt, spear, heavy, and elite). The enemies get gradually harder, and the player gets gradually stronger and faster with each kill. The game keeps going until the player dies. The number of kills determines if the next level is unlocked, and which skin or weapons you unlock. Higher score of course means better looking weapons, more damage, etc. Skins are cosmetic only.

The second level is a fire temple in the deserts of Ishtar Nomsa; a sandstorm is brewing, the skies are chaotic and there are corpses of the temple guardians around, long dead. There's one spawner that spawns the same enemies as the first map, plus a new necromancer variant. The gameplay loop is the same, but this second map has these 3 altars that can be used to "sacrifice" items to get a buff. Each altar requires a different sacrifice and offers a different bonus, with the requirement and the bonus amounts varying each time it cycles, so you'd want to find the best deal, if that makes sense. You decide if sacrificing that number of items is worth the reward.

The third map is set on the jagged rocky shore of Soferenso, the land only inhabited by exiles, undesirables, criminals, etc. This map is littered with bones, both of human and of giants, and has a different spawner type, with different enemy spawn ratios (more of some, less of others) and is my most difficult map to play on so far, it can get really overwhelming really fast. This map also includes the same types of sacrifice altars, and this time there's a lot more than just 3 altars. There are also some no-go zones with a poison gas that causes damage if the player gets too close, so managing space is a bit more important here than the other maps.

For the 5th (and final level) I have plans that I cannot share with you right now because the haters will sabotage me.

Now this post is about the 4th level. I'm trying to figure out if making another map with different visuals and maybe some additional gameplay elements (traps, pathways that open up and close again, walls that are caving in, random chimp events, meteor shower, random boss spawn, etc.) OR if I should break up the gameplay pace and do something completely different.

I have a couple different ideas; one would be a location where the player farms some items up to take back to the hub area and craft "legendary" items with before you can move on to the next & final stage, which would include some enemies but not as the sole focus, and no endless hordes. The other idea is to have another horde fighting level but with a really sharp difficulty spike, or something you have to manage while keeping the enemies off you (protect something/someone, have to do xyz before resuming combat, making sure enemies dont step into a radius, etc) OR, a time trial of sorts, to see how many enemies you can kill before the time runs out (run through a dungeon and gather as much loot as possible before extracting / timer runs out). The idea behind the 4th level is to prepare the player for the final level, and while I do have some lore restrictions, I am flexible and open to retconning some of the lore so I can fit this 4th level into the game.
