been building out a portfolio — event sites, mobile apps, brand systems — but struggling to actually land clients/opportunities as someone just starting out.

for those who've been through this stage — how did you get your first few gigs? cold outreach, communities, referrals, something else? also curious how fresher designers usually price their work early on.
