Is David always going to be the "third" in the "outro" from now on?

In the post-interview part of the podcast, we've still been having discussion from Conan, Sona and David even though Gourley is back. At first I figured they just had some pre-recorded outros in the can left over from Gourley's paternity leave, but it's been a while now and they're still doing this.

I get the sense that Conan may not have wanted to fully "demote" David since he stepped up during Matt's leave, so he decided to divide it up where Matt takes the intro and David takes the outro. As one of those who enjoys the Conan/Sona/Gourley interactions more than the interviews, I am not wild about this. David's a nice guy, but his highest-and-best is being primarily behind the scenes. Gourley should be out front for both segments.

Chill Chums and Sona's House

I was listening to the first Chill Chums episode of Season 2 from back in 2022 on my commute this morning. They were talking about Sona's house in Altadena and she was laughing about how she had to pay an arm-and-a-leg for home insurance because she lives in a fire zone, and they kept joking about how they couldn't do Chill Chums from her house because they'd start a campfire and burn down 6 square miles.

Was just kinda like, "Oof ..."

Why are families so small in Star Trek?

I'm struggling to think of any major Star Trek characters who have more than even a single sibling, and several appear to be only children. And then when the characters start their own families, they only have one or two kids. (That 2nd part could be due mainly to the "Starfleet lifestyle," but it still doesn't explain why all their non-Starfleet parents only had one or two kids.)

I'm not expecting 12-kid broods like certain religions today promote, but it does seem like in a post-scarcity society where all of your needs are met, we'd see more people swept up in "babymania" and having 3 or 4 kids just because they can. I think a lot of people today would want to have more kids if money wasn't a factor, so it just seems strange that there are no ST families that even have 3 (at least that I can think of).

Like streaming is killing movie theaters, would the replicator kill restaurants?

Replicator food in Star Trek doesn't sound like it's terrible or anything, and honestly, if replicators are what's feeding most people, you have to assume a lot of effort will be spent making the output as good as it can possibly be.

In a world where people have that, how realistic is it that people are going to go out to Sisko's Creole Kitchen and places like that? Okay, sure, maybe on occasion as a little novelty, but if you can basically just magic up any meal you want in a second at your own home where you can watch your holodramas or whatever the hell, and there's no clean-up because you just disintegrate your replicated dishes and silverware, how often are you really gonna feel like schlepping your way across the French Quarter to sit at some table and wait for Sisko's dad to cook you food?

The "Contact Us" interface on the Team Coco site has been returning an error for weeks.

I don't know if anyone from Team Coco looks in on this sub regularly. Probably not, but on the off chance this can be seen and fixed, I figured I'd post it here. It's not just the regular feedback interface but the one for potential advertisers, too, which I assume they would want to keep functional.

I keep expecting it to be fixed, and I go in once a week or so to try to send my message, and it always returns the error, regardless of the device I use.

Which do you consider the “primary” version of G.I. Joe—the Sunbow cartoon or the comics?

I’m guessing this may be an unpopular answer, but it’s the cartoon for me.

Why were Slip-Stream and Wild Bill on Falcon’s tribunal with Hawk and Adm. Ledger in the movie?

Seems kind of random. Are they considered technically among the few that actually outrank Falcon, as pilots and thus Captains or something?

I'm 6 episodes into the original cartoon; does the pace on this pick up at some point?

I'm not normally one who minds a slow burn, but it seems like the plot isn't advancing at all. Am I right in thinking there will be some greater narrative at some point rather than a series of bottle episodes about whatever new village they visit each week?

This show is so revered, so I'm inclined to stick with it, but if it doesn't develop some direction soon I might just move on. Not looking for spoilers, just a confirmation that it evolves into something grander before TOO long ...

Allergies are really bad right now. Where I live it is spring--pollen, trees blooming, etc.

I keep trying to figure out things I can change. Is dust/pet dander in the house exacerbating it? I don't know, because sometimes I feel better at home, sometimes not. I can't identify any trends/commonalities.

I already get allergy shots and I'm taking a 24-hr. Zyrtec every day. I just started taking Montellukast as well. What else can I do? What works? Nasal sprays, nasal decongestants? Or am I already doing all that is reasonable and I just need it ride it out?

It's getting very hard to live like this.
