In case you wanted to see how big Bolt Pistol bolts are in Space Marine 2, here you go.

Compared to a 7.62x54 bullet. 40K scaling is basically impossible to do accurately, but giving reasonable lore and and using Space Marine 2 Astartes and the standard Bolt Pistol as a reference, this is how big the bolts are. The .75 caliber number that's generally claimed is of course absolute BS in reality. These are closer to 40-50mm if you actually follow the proportions. (It's actually a bit on the smaller side, it would likely be a few millimeters bigger. However, I don't want the bolt pistol I'm making to look ridiculous. However, this scaling would be perfectly plausible even for Astartes scaling. Space Marine 2 sidearms can look a bit bigger than things like the models).

What's Omori like?

Going to be living in Japan for a few months, and was able to land an apartment in Omori. As a foreigner, the pickings were slim haha. It's a few minutes from Omorimatchi. I've researched online, and heard some things about Ota-ku, not necessarily the best things lmao, but nothing much about Omori specifically. From what I know people say it's more "slow", residential area, but that's it. What's it like? Thanks!

Struggling after "failed" promotion opportunity

In short, recently I was considered for a promotion at my job but they ended up not selecting me and I think it's due to the work I was asked to complete. The fallout of this has left me really stressed out and struggling to be motivated at my job. It's actually causing me a great deal of distress because this is the first time I've experienced this.

I generally like my current job, so far it's been a great experience and I have few complaints. Recently, I was considered for a promotion by management. They said directly to me that they had been very impressed with my performance thus far, and said that if I was interested they would like to have me apply to a more upper-level role. This new promotion, was probably the best job opportunity I've ever received at this point. At least according to the description of the job, I was frothing at the mouth basically. It had the best pay so far in my career (enough pay for me to achieve basically all of my most immediate life goals and desires), an excellent schedule that I was really happy with, the work they said I would be doing seemed really exciting, and most importantly I was finally being given more responsibility. Most of my career I've never felt like I could get to the next level so to speak, I was never given much responsibility. So, this position was finally my chance to be given a higher level role, to get that experience. This finally felt like my break, my next step up the ladder that I've been seeking for years. Of course, I know it's a business and the reality was probably just as much of a slog as any role, but this new position represented the next step that's felt so far away. This set-up is important for why this has hit me so hard. Because, I've applied for hundreds of jobs and have been rejected plenty. Normally, I don't care, I know it's simply a part of life. But this, feels different.

So for this new position, I was invited to start the process. I passed the first stage, but the next stage involved me actually doing some work they said aligned with what I'd be doing. If I did well with that, then I would move to the next stage. I don't want to complain, but I feel like the instruction I was given at this step was very, spartan. I was basically just told to figure it out, but still do a good job. I assumed this was to test how I handled independent problem solving, and honestly I think I did pretty good all things considered. Of course, there are some things I would tweak and change, but overall at the end I felt I did the best I could and followed their direction closely considering what I was given. I know it's very hard to assess your own work, but I could justify every decision I made pretty easily if required and most of the tweaks/changes I would make to my work are a direct result of the instruction I received. To be clear, I'm not trying to say that I failed because my employers direction was bad. I'm saying I did my best all things considered. Since submitting it, I got the automatic reply e-mail from the portal that basically says they weren't moving forward with my application at this time.

Passing the initial round quickly and the words of encouragement made me very excited about this opportunity. That made the failure hit much harder. Honestly, I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel a little bit hung out to dry (I kind of felt like I was just expected to figure it out on my own with minimal direction while still providing perfection). Combine this with feelings of inadequacy, like maybe I'm not as skilled or good at working under pressure as I thought I was. Would I even be ready for a role with more responsibility? All of this with the baggage I mentioned earlier about my work experience, and I think that explains why I'm distressed. As mentioned, I've never experienced something like this before. I've essentially never been given responsibility AND fudged it. Either I'm not given responsibility, or I do a good job. All this to say, these past few days at work have been hell. I normally don't mind coming into work every day, but each day I dread it and I have 0 motivation. I'm really struggling with work, because I feel like I blew an absolutely golden opportunity. I've tried everything I usually do to get out of a funk, but it isn't working.

How do you handle this? Is this normal? Or should I be more hyper-critical of my work? I ask this sub because I don't have the professional experience yet for this.

[KCD2] What's the deal with so many bandits in the early game?

Really trying to get into this game as I'm a huge fan of medieval history. Despite the game despite being really enjoyable in the beginning, it's starting to become extremely frustrating. If I wasn't a huge fan of medieval history I definitely would've stopped playing by now.

Why am I forced to fight 3-4 well armed bandits every time I try to explore the roads? I have a tunic, a rusty sword, and 0 training. The sword training costs 75 coins, so I can't afford it. I can't run away, because Pebbles ALWAYS bucks me off, even with full courage. Once I got Pebbles, I was looking forward to riding out and exploring more of the map. However, now that's become so tedious because almost every single new road I explore has bandits on it. I usually just quit out of frustration.

My gameplay experience results in: Start the morning ready to go exploring the map and do my quests. I ride following the trail. Whoop de do, 3-4 bandits, some in heavy gear, sitting by the road. Knowing I can't hope to fight them off, I book it past them. I fly past them on Pebbles, relieved because we get 100-150 feet past them so I think I'm in the clear. Nevermind, Pebbles stops in her tracks despite us being way clear of the bandits, and bucks me off. Bandits catch up to me instantly, and kill me. I respawn back at my bed, losing 30 minutes of progress. Rinse and repeat, until I've wasted hours crawling through the game at a snail's pace because the game decides to throw multiple armed men at me when I can barely afford food.

I can't run away. I can't fight. What am I supposed to do? I really was excited to dive into this game, but it's been 50% "Wow, this game is incredible" and 50% "Fuck this, I'm getting off.".

Where's a good area to live in Tokyo for 2-3 months as a foreigner?

Planning a realistically 2 month trip to Tokyo. Not planning it to be a tourist-y focused, but being able to see some cool things would be nice. What's a nice area in Tokyo to anchor yourself around for 1-2 months? As in, relatively affordable and good convenient access too the better stations? I'd like to change lines as little as possible. I have a soft spot for Setagaya, but I don't know if it's actually a good spot to live as a foreigner for a few months. I don't know enough about Japan to know what's the best practical move here. I'm willing to spend a little bit more if it means an appreciable quality of life, but obviously price is important. Any ideas or things I should think about?

Anyone get access to a project series you didn't do the qualification for?

For months I've had this qualification available, but didn't do it because it's a ton of work and I didn't need the work. Then, today, I got kind of a flux of new projects. Two of them, is from the same project series as this qualification, and it even pays priority rate right now. I still have the qual on my dash lmao.

Has this happened to anyone else? It seems pretty funny to me. Maybe they're desperate for workers.

What do we think of this green? Got some cheap spray cans

Testing green for my helmet. Was going to go for Salamander Green spray from color forge, but got this JD green spray Rustoleum for 6 bucks. The gloss isn't ideal, but i'm going to satin clear coat anyways. What we do we think, my main concern is I don't want the green to look like dark angels.

Any generalists have a decent amount of work?

I'm a core generalist that's been here for 3 months, and my dash has been pretty full lately, 10-12 projects. One project family has basically unlimited work so I've just been grinding it out the past month, but I've been getting some other tasks. However, every time I open this subreddit it seems everybody is in a drought. I feel bad, because this is the first time I've had stable work and for awhile I basically had 0 work so I get the struggle. I wonder if this is just biased because people who have work aren't commenting. So, core generalists, what's your dash looking like? If you could state how long you've been here that would be cool too.

Why is my top layer like this?

I made sure I have enough top layers and only 2 walls, yet they still end up looking terrible. Is this a model issue, or a setting issue? The pieces are pretty thin, so I wonder if that's part of it. This is so far only an issue on this particular model, other models work just fine. Ender 3 Pro.

3 months into the monthly feedback, and it's just becoming frustrating.

I just started here when they implemented the monthly feedback. So, the first month of the feedback was my first ever month here at DA. My feedback was "Outstanding". Then, my second month was "Excellent". Just got my third monthly feedback, and it was "Good.". Despite the fact that my feedback is the same almost verbatim across all 3 months, "Your work shows strong understanding and performance of project guidelines and that you go above and beyond to meet high quality writing and research standards", somehow my rating is consistently decreasing. On top of this, my "areas of improvement" needed went from 3 sections in the first month, to only 1 section in months 2 and 3. And, my areas for improvement are minor all things considered. What's most frustrating, the specific project mentioned in "areas for improvement" is for a project I don't even recognize. I checked my work history, that project name wasn't there. I don't ever recall working on that project, yet it's in my "areas for improvement"

I don't understand how my feedback comments can remain almost identical across the months, show LESS areas needed for improvement, one of those areas of improvement name a project title I don't think I ever even worked on, and yet my quality snapshot be consistently decreasing.

How has your guy's feedback been?

Remember, getting access to project families is the key to having plenty of work. Do your qualifications!!

As I peruse this subreddit, I see just how many people are in a drought. After seeing my dashboard, I realized 95% of my available work is propped up by a single project family. One single project family is literally what's keeping me afloat right now. Almost every single if not every single project available in this family has priority pay and is some of the highest paying stable work I've ever had on the platform.

It goes to show that it really pays to do as many qualifications as you can, and do a good job. I know it's hard to decide to work that might not be paid, but if you really do a good job it can completely change your dashboard. If you're in a drought, that's a perfect time to do your quals! It's exactly what happened to me.
