What snatched and killed my dog?

My 13lb. (roughly 14" at the shoulder) 8 yr old miniature schnauzer was snatched from my deck early morning on Sunday 8/9 and dragged about 230ft before being eviscerated. I did not see blood on her head or neck, both of which were covered with brittlebrush burrs. Her beard fur, full of burrs, was covering her face. Her 1/8" leather collar has no teeth marks. Her hindquarters had no fur, muscle exposed, and her intestines were pulled from the body. The critter left a print (tail? ear? other?) on the French door where I think my dog was standing, looking inside, waiting for me to let her in for our early AM walk.

I have 3 attachments: best closeup of the print, which is 2.5" long and 1" high; context of the print on the door - 43" from the deck floor; and a mapping showing the likely distance and route from which she was dragged. With my dog in its grip, the critter had to jump a 42" high deck wall to get back into the desert and carry her off. We could not find any paw prints in the very dry, compacted dirt.

I am trying to determine if the likely killer was a mountain lion, coyote, or bobcat. Location is just north of Tucson AZ.

Thanks. Suggestions on other communities to repost to would be welcome.

"Renal P" phosphate binder for cats and dogs

I first posted this in r/RenalCats though I have a dog as I was looking up Aventi Kidney Complete which is currently impossible to find. I also found a subreddit that gave legitimacy to purchasing from HomeLabVeterinary https://www.reddit.com/r/Pets/comments/1q7rxrd/is_homevetlab_reliable/ before I made my purchase. Just want to spread the word...

Yo, folks! With a lot of effort, I just purchased "Renal P" in powder form made by an Italian company, www.Candioli.com, off a Ukrainian website that is legitimate: www.homelabvet.comRenal P is the actual phosphate binder that was cited in this NIH study https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7430264/ titled Efficacy of a new dietary supplement in dogs with advanced chronic kidney disease published in 2020. Renal P also comes in a paste form which I think is used for finicky cats who won't eat the powder.

I had to check with my bank as the Ukrainian site requires a verification using VISA that I had to get through Bank of America by phone, but that worked. Also, I found a coupon here https://simplycodes.com/store/homelabvet.com that gave me 12% off the purchase price, but since I bought two jars of Renal P and my total just squeaked over $100 even after using the coupon, shipping is FREE. I had been using Epakitin for my dog with stage 2 CKD (and also lanthanum carbonate); my vet said he wasn't too enthused about the Epakitin so I was looking for something better.

Turns out both Renal P and Aventi Kidney Complete have the same 4 major ingredients and are extremely hard to source. I was on both a Canadian and Italian website that REFUSE currently to ship to the USA though their websites are set up to do so. Damned DJT!! So the ONLY place I found to buy Renal P is in Ukraine.

If you vote, vote a straight BLUE ticket in November, if for no other reason than to support your pets and keep them alive!

First time administering SubQ at home - Q on bag markings

Newbie administering subQ liquids at home. I am supposed to give my dog 200ml of Vetivex pHLyte solution per session. Hanging the bag up, there was not much liquid above the "1" line and there seems to be a lot of liquid below the "9" marker. I administered fluids down to the "2" marker but am concerned that when I use this bag for the last time, I will be administering too much fluid if I stop when the bag is nearly empty. Questions: did I give my dog enough fluids today? Do I need to adjust how much I give when I start the last session using this bag and the fluid level starts at the "8" marker? Otherwise, the session went pretty well. I had my dog on the grooming table and we both were pretty calm. Got a tail wag shortly after we finished.

My dog needs to know: what walker/balance support works outside on hilly blacktop roads with no sidewalks

I am 13 days post-op. I cannot take my dog for a good walk until I figure out what I can use for stability outside. The 2-wheeler I have cannot cope with pavers or blacktop surfaces; I have a 4-prong cane that does not give me enough stability on uneven surfaces. Felt so bad this AM when I brought the dog with me to pick up the newspaper (100+ ft from the front door, pavered surface) and she wanted to take our usual 1-2 mi walk. Also, I had right THR and normally hold the leash in my left hand. Cannot do that holding a cane. Want the walk; do not want a fall.

Watts repair kit parts do not fit spec'd valve

I bought the 'Watts 0886015-886015 - 1/2" - 1 1/4" Repair Kit for a Model LF7R Dual Check Valve' to fix a leaking Watts dual check valve with these specs (also see valve photo)
LFTR Dual Check, Size 1 x 1, End U2 x 2, Ser 1521W, 175 psi
The parts enclosed with the kit (see kit photo) were too large to fit in the existing valve. We cleaned and reinstalled the existing parts but the valve still leaks. Short of buying a new valve for triple the price, is there a Watts repair kit that does fit this valve? I cannot find it in their documentation. Thanks.

Installed LFTR dual check valve

Voice gone after surgery. Remedies??

I had a successful superior posterior THR on my right side on Wed (May 20). Am dealing with swelling and soreness but very little pain (taking no narcotics). But since I came out of the OR my voice is increasingly raspy and sore. The surgeon's nurse had recommended I sleep on my back post-op, as it would have the least risk of a hip dislocation. I've been able to do that, but this AM am thinking that my shot vocal cords are due to my mouth dropping open when I am asleep on my back! I live alone and am making no phone calls because I can barely speak. Have tried warm water w. lemon and honey, warm camomile tea with honey, cough drops. Nothing is helping. I have less voice today than day of surgery.

Has anyone else experienced this issue and how did you remedy it? Of course today is Sat. of a 3-day weekend and I just linked the problem possibly to my sleeping position, so I cannot ask the medical team until next Tuesday. Also, if you are sleeping on your side post-op, how are you positioning pillows between your legs? I tried to switch to sleeping on my "good" hip but felt I might be twisting my body which I was warned not to do, so returned to sleeping on my back. I am also elevating both legs while on my back. Sleep is good but my vocal cords are a wreck.

Loss of login access with TFA

Seven months ago I finally got TFA set up with KeePassXC but it stopped working 2 days ago, unfortunately just as I was going in for major surgery. I cannot access Fidelity.com or ATP. WHY did Fidelity kill my access and why didn't they give me a heads up? My throat is sore post-surgery so I am trying to avoid using the phone.

Live alone - tripod cane vs. 2-wheeled walker after THR

I am having THR on May 20. A friend offered to lend me her 2-wheeled walker but I hadn't thought about the logistics of carrying a plate of food from the kitchen to the dining room, or even preparing a meal in the kitchen using a 2-wheeled walker. Seems impossible. Has anyone started out after surgery using a 3-footed cane instead of a walker? I have a pre-op assessment mtg. this Wed. and want to raise this option. I think I would end up walking around the walker to get mundane tasks done at home alone but for sure don't want to have a stumble or fall. I am very independent and do not want someone staying with me more than one day. Also I have a basement (5 steps, landing, 12 more steps) and think I would need the cane plus hand railing to navigate those, safer than a walker.

I finally have a new pt. appt. with the surgeon this Thursday about a right hip replacement. I am in such agony, growing worse measured on a weekly, and now daily basis, performing routine tasks that I have a hard time believing I will need more support post-op, including toilet hardware, cane, walker, drugs, etc. than the nothing I currently use except ibuprofen or acetaminophen and some ice packs. I live alone. My dog is sick and needs her meds and a walk (agony!) I didnt' know it until a few weeks ago, but my hip has been disintegrating for over a year. I thought it was shin splints, then sciatica, then gluteal tendinopathy. Final diagnosis: hip osteoarthritis Couldn't get a quality MD appt. until recently.

My question: were you in more pain after your surgery than before?

I haven't seen a discussion of that reading all the helpful comments in these threads. Am trying to gauge how independent I can continue to be coming home from outpatient surgery.
