Is next week a good week for camping?

We have a road trip planned to Arkansas next week for Devil's den, Mt. Magazine, Petit Jean, Hot Springs NP, but the forecast is looking a bit troubling with a 30% chance of rain all day every day.

Looking at that forecast in Texas, we'd still go because if it does rain here, it's usually fast moving storms that dump a lot of rain and move on. I don't know much about Arkansas weather patterns - does that 30% chance mean it's just a day long shower or the same quick moving storms?

Roll on primer for tiny trailer

Hello!

I'm building a tiny trailer. I've fiberglassed it (using epoxy), applied epoxy fairing compound, sanding the shit out of it, and now want to prime it.

There are still some issues in the base layer (weave not fully filled 100%, etc), but I'm looking to toss on a coat of primer and take it out for memorial day.

So what I want to know is this:

  • What is a primer+paint system that:
    • Can be picked up in a store
    • I can roll on (since I don't have a sprayer/paint booth)
    • Is compatible with epoxy/fiberglass
    • Will allow me to fair between primer coats (unfortunately I won't have time to do everything before heading out this weekend)
    • Primer can be exposed to elements and then sanded down after

I'm specifically asking about fairing between primer coats since I've picked up some rustoleum marine primer, but it's a 1-part primer and they don't recommend fairing over it.

I may take the trailer to a body shop for painting once I'm done patching everything.

Can I epoxy/fair over Rustoleum Marine Primer?

Not strictly a boat building question, but there's not another active epoxy/fiberglassing subreddit out there...

I'm building a tiny trailer and have been fiberglassing it with 6oz cloth and raka epoxy. There are roughly 2 coats of epoxy on this thing. Unfortunately the finish isn't 100% great yet - the weave is still visible in a many places.

I would like to take this tiny trailer out very soon for a trip so won't have time to lovingly patch every bit of the weave.

My plan is to cover the trailer in Rustoleum marine primer so that all of the multi-colored patches under the epoxy aren't as ugly. This is a Modified Alkyd Resin/Titanium Dioxide and Fillers Pigment/Aromatic Hydrocarbons Solvents primer.

When I get back from my trip - should I sand off the primer completely, or can I just rough it up a bit and keep patching? Or should I even use some other primer?

How do I cut a 5 degree bevel on 4 inch wide board 60" long?

I've got to make this really long (60") shim with a 5 degree bevel into a piece of 3/4" plywood.

I'm struggling with how to make it safely since the blade will basically be up the way and I like my fingers.

How to join 20ga to 14ga wire?

I've got a very simple question.

I'm wiring up a tiny trailer. The trailer has 14gauge wire running throughout and I've got some LED lights that have 20ga wire.

I'm looking for automotive (or maybe marine?) connectors/splices for this situation. I've seen butt splices that are 22-16ga, but nothing that's like.. 22-14/20-14 gauge. Preferably not solder splices since I hear they're bad for automotive/high vibration environments.

Need advice for fast filler before applying fiberglass/epoxy.

I’ve got to lay some fiberglass today to stay on schedule. Unfortunately I’ve got some small dings, etc, under the surface that need to be patched.

Are there any fillers or anything that I can put on that I can sand and lay fiberglass over on the same day? I’ve got some TotalBoat total fair, but it says to wait 24 hours before fiberglassing.

Hi all,

I bought an Ecoflow River 2 pro for my tiny trailer project. I'll be using the ecoflow to power the trailer's 12V fan (5A) and 12V lights (4x 0.25A). That seems to be well within the 10A output budget.

My question is - what's the best outlet for this output? The cigarette lighter outlet? Are there any specific cord that people would recommend for that? I only need to go about 4ft to the distribution block.
