Digital setup into one channel on my Vestax PMC 250 so I can use the channel isolator

Hi there,

I have a decent home setup, one that allows me to play exactly what I want when I want it.

Two technics running to a Denon mcx8000 which is connected to either a laptop for mixing on 4 channels digitally or standalone to mix off USBs.

I also have a Vestax PMC 250 which I used to run my turntables through. I'm about to build a DJ booth so I want to Incorporate everything into one system if that makes sense.

So if keep my current setup could I run the master output of the Denon to a channel on the PMC so I could use the rotary isolators on said channel.

What issues could I face (if any)

Also has anyone put a patch at in so they can quickly route different players to mixers?

Thanks

Hot cue launch slightly off due to my terrible timing

Hi there,

New Serato user but not dj and I'm looking to replicate a feature from Rekordbox to make up for my piss poor timing when bashing hit cues.

Whenever I would launch a hot cue in rekordbox quantization would keep it locked so that it plays on beat. This was great because my timing was terrible. I cant seem to find that feature in Serato.

Does it have it.

Denon Mcx8000 is an under rated serato controller

Now I know there's better serato controllers out there but I think for the money and features it's very under rated. Especially s it can be picked up second hand for a couple of hundred quid.

So just some background. I used to DJ for years on vinyl, then CDs, then Ableton then back to usb sticks before life getting on the way and I gave up on the hobby.

I recently over the course of a year or two got a vinyl setup going again but wanted a standalone unit to play MP3 files.

I opted for the demon mcx8000 because I could run my turntables through em and it was cheap (400 euros)

I didn't use engine software with it, I just loaded up a usb, plugged it in and beatmatched manually. It's been fantastic and did exactly what I wanted.

Fast forward to a few months ago and a friend of mine asked me to DJ a few gigs with him. He has an RX2 so I began using rekordbox to prep my files. The RX2 is great and after a few chats back and forth with my mate we both figured a standalone with 3 channels would be perfect for us.

So last night I was looking up a standalone that could accommodate but figured I'd look up some info about using the mcx8000 as a controller.

Completely forgot that the mcx unlocks Serato pro so figured I might as well give it a go.

To my surprise I could fire up Serato on my laptop and completely forget about it afterwards as the onboard screens shows the files from Serato.

I then realised you can use stems with the mcx also. I'm honestly blown away with what this device gets you.

A Serato pro licence, 4 channels which can be operated somewhat independent of the laptop screen (I closed the laptop lid once I load up Serato) Stems, the ability to hook up 2turn tables. Option for dvs also. All this for 400 euros. I honestly think it's a massive bargain.

Anyone else agree?

I reckon beginners should give it a try.

Interior wall in front of large window. Is there a better way

Hi everyone,

Hopefully this fits the sub. I have a sitting room that has a strange shape to it. It also has a very large window towards the "back" of the space. I have made a sitting room space within the total space but I need to section off the back of the space as eventually a front door will be installed/reinstated in the alcove at the back (See pictures, its where the little toy storage unit is)

So I did what we all do, I put the space into Chatgpt and asked it to place a wall there that falls in the middle of the window. It moved the window in some of the pictures but got the wall somewhat correct (See AI picture/collage). In the AI generated collage the wall is to the right of the big window. This does not leave enough room for the door/entrance so it must be slap bang in the centre of the window.

Okay so my question, is this the best way to achieve this divide in the room. I'm not super enthused with having a wall fall in the middle of the large window even if it is stepped back from it. I almost feel this is the only way to do it but I want to make sure I'm not missing a trick. Fron the outiside looking in I guess if I dressed the thickness of the wall in a floor to ceiling mirror it'll kind disappear but again not ideal

Thank you

Anyone been to a recent gig and can answer this question.

Hi there,

I've been out of the Vulfpeck ecosystem for a lil bit and haven't been keeping up to date with their releases however they announced a gig in Dublin and I managed to snag tickets for it. The last time I saw them in Dublin it was basically all the big hits so I'm wondering will I get more of the same (which would be awesome) or do I need to brush up on the newer stuff.

Audio books playback sped up but Music files play fine

Hi there,

I downloaded David Walliams books for my kid and put it on her Snowsky disk but for some reason they are sped up on playback.

However when I play them back on my phone and laptop they play fine. Any idea how to fix?

Can rewind disk by rotating album art.

So I've seen a video of someone rotating the album art backwards which would rewind the song kinda like a vinyl record. I've updated to 1.86 but its not an option for me.

What am i missing 😄
