Live Music Gig

Hi!

My boss is hosting a private party in July for a small celebration. We decided it would be great to have some live music. We are specifically looking for Black musicians that play brass instruments (trumpet, trombone, etc.). The date will most likely be for July 18 and the gig would last about four hours. Our budget is currently flexible, so feel free to send a quote. Dm me for more information or questions!

Finding an amateur mucisian

Hi guys,

I am looking for advice. My boss wants to hire some black jazz musicians for their party. They specifically want the players to be brass musicians and is flexible with the budget (they have never hired musicians before). Does anyone know what avenues I can use to find some younger jazz players? I don’t listen to jazz and my friends are all in the EDM and DJ scene. So I’m out of my element. I posted this under the wrong account and am reposting here!

PS: Adding a picture of toy turtles I found outside cuz they’re awesome.

Need a second opinion

I want a second opinion on my tarot reading. Context is I got a new job a few months ago. It‘s ideal because it’s a creative environment, it’s remote (which is great for my chronic pain) and my coworkers are really nice. The major downside is the pay is really, really low. I was told that I would be working on multiple projects at once and so I thought I was making nore than what I actually am. So now I am wondering if I should just go back to hospitality.

Question: Should I stay at this new job?

I pulled these cards and I feel like it’s telling me to ride it out. But would love to hear other thoughts. I didn't use any particular spread and just did an intuitive pull.

Wheel of Fortune: Im going through major changes in my career and need to be adaptable. With challenges, there will also be opportunities.

Three of Pentacles: My current work environment for sure. Collaborative and an opportunity to grow in my field.

Two of Wands: This on threw me off for sure. But I settled on the cards telling me to take the risk and step out of my comfort zone. Which would definitely fit because I HATE being financially unstable. And I still don’t know if this will pan out.

Would definitely appreciate any advice or opinions!

EDIT: Adding the name of the deck. It’s Orien’s Animal Tarot. Thank you for helping me find the artist!

Views of Swifties

I am posting here for a more neutral viewpoint, but I posted this to the general Taylor Swift Reddit as well. I basically want to discuss the weird misogyny that surrounds conversations about “swifties”. I have been a fan of her for years, though never a die hard for her as a person. I have my criticisms of her, her billionaire status, and how she uses (or doesn’t use) her platform. But, I have always noticed that people online and irl tend to lean into misogynistic language when talking about her fandom. Especially if you watch videos making fun of swifties. They always depict a…. Certain type of white girl. Now, I am not a white woman so this doesn’t affect me personally. But it is something I have seen and it has arguably gotten worse over the years. But again, I have been listening to her for years. So I want to hear some “neutral” takes. What do you guys think? We are not including the crazy stans. Those are in every fandom and uh… well I think we can all agree they’re different. But I mean this general image of a typical swiftie and how that results in the way people talk about them. I hope this makes sense, lmao.

P.S. Not sure how to tag this so apologies if I did it incorrectly.

Misogyny against swifties

Hey guys! I wanted to post to here to get opinions from Taylor Swift fans. I have noticed this a while ago but I thought about it again when I came across this video on YouTube that was dissecting Taylor’s branding. I haven’t watched the video yet, though I am intrigued. But what stood out to me were the comments. I went to them for mild spoilers until I could sit down and watch the whole thing. They arguably had nothing to do with the video topic itself. Instead, it was people declaring their distaste for Taylor. But quite a few of these comments weren’t necessarily about Taylor, but rather Taylor’s fans. I have been listening to her since Fearless came out. And while it has absolutely gotten worse, I have always heard people talk terribly about the girls who listen to her. There seems to be this assumption that her fans are “vapid, basic white women”. Despite her fandom obviously being way more diverse than this. It’s also just extremely misogynistic to me. But when I bring this up, people tend to roll their eyes and say it’s not. I decided to write about this, but I want to hear from her fans. Do you guys feel this way as well? Or am I just sensitive? Maybe there is something that I am not seeing since I am a lifelong fan? Cause I do have criticisms about Taylor. But I think way too many people are comfortable making fun of her fandom with traditionally misogynistic language.
