Tl;dr recomended derailleur for a 3x7 with a 14/34 cassette and integrated derailleur hanger?

Bike: '95 specialized hardrock ultra

3x7 drive train

Due to a series of events, I swapped my rear freehub 11/28 with the shimano megashift 14/24 freewheel.

This is not a permanent set up. Ill be buildimg a custom casette or using the sunrace cs-m40 11/34, after i repair my original wheel. While running the shimano, im noticing my second gear dosnt always catch when shifting up. That is itll jump right from 1st to 3rd unless I treat my BR-ifter like a friction shifter. Im hoping that will stop when I even out the 26 to 34 tooth jump. But given that my derailleur looks pretty closed to maxed out and wondering if swapping it might help. How can I tell if a derailleur will fit? And can I set it up to work with my already equipped shifter or do I need to replace the whole thing?

Trying to remove some of the scuffed up badges on my 95 hardrock. They dont seem to be stickers, more like directly painted on. Or silk screened. Does anyone have a suggestion for removing them without messing up the base coat too much?
