Ziggy & Neo Update

Hi all, I’m reaching out to post an update about Ziggy and Neo. When I posted last, I was looking for a temporary foster for the boys. Unfortunately, my mental health seriously declined after that post and I was hospitalized for 6 days. I was released on Wednesday.

During my hospitalization, my parents stepped up to care for the dogs, with my mom providing primary care and my dad checking in and walking them. Tomorrow I fly out to LA and will check in to residential mental health treatment on Monday. My parents will continue to watch the dogs until I return. I will be able to get photos of the boys and possibly FaceTime them while I’m away.

Please keep me in your thoughts. Things are still very tough health wise but I hope that residential treatment will give me the support to build a solid foundation ❤️‍🩹

Feeling stuck and not sure how to break free

Currently diagnosed Bipolar 2, GAD with panic attacks, social anxiety, ADHD, binge eating disorder (in recovery but its shaky), and borderline personality disorder (conflicting opinions from professionals on if this is accurate).

I spent most of the day today trying not to swallow all my medication and end it all. I even wrote a suicide note. My life is in shambles.

For background: 4 years ago I had my own apartment in a nice city with my dog. I had a career and was good at my job. I struggled living alone and ended up getting Baker Acted for the first time. I broke my lease to move back home for more “family support.” It’s been a nightmare and I feel trapped.

I was making 6 figures last year and I still didn’t move out because I was afraid of not being able to handle my mental health and daily responsibilities. I hated my job so I decided to go to graduate school to change careers. My parents told me they fully supported me, but never offered any support, financial or emotional. My mother in particular is extremely emotionally abusive and hateful toward me. She clearly is dealing with some form of religious psychosis and even yells at me when I try to go to the bathroom.

Grad school is expensive. I wasn’t prepared financially for that change. I take responsibility for this. I was Baker Acted again in March and I haven’t fully recovered. I currently have $3.78 in one account and two others are over-drafted. My car is likely going to be repossessed any day now. My mental health has been so bad that I haven’t been able to function, let alone work. Every day is a battle to try to stay alive.

I was recently accepted to a residential mental health program across the country. I have enough airline points to make it work and my insurance has approved it. I need to find a foster for my dogs and it’s hard to be motivated to do that when I’m navigating suicidal thoughts daily. I think residential treatment could save my life but I’m struggling to get there.

I have no one. My sister asked me to stop talking to her about my mental health, my parents don’t believe its real, my older brother is going through his own personal issues, my sister in law is looking into divorce. I have one friend, and honestly I’m jealous of her because she lives the life I want: traveling with her partner. I don’t want to burden anyone so I keep to myself.

I apologize for the length and if you read this, I truly appreciate you. Do you have any advice on how I should move forward? I’m becoming scared for my safety

Seeking advice on temporarily putting my Tzus with a foster family

Hi community. It’s difficult to write this post but I want to be transparent and ask for some advice. As many of you know, I’m mom to Neo & Ziggy. In March, I was hospitalized for 5 days for mental health challenges. Since my release, I’ve continued with weekly therapy and monthly visits with my psychiatrist. Unfortunately my mental health has continued to deteriorate, and at the advice of my medical team, I am going to enter a residential treatment program for 30-45 days. I’m currently in FL and the program is located across the country. I don’t have any friends or family that can look after the boys while I am away. I’m looking for advice to see if anyone has had to temporarily put their pups in foster care. I feel immense guilt about the situation, as my boys are the reason I get out of bed every morning. Their happiness is my priority. However, I desperately need help because my health just keeps getting worse. Please respond with kindness, this was really hard for me to share here.

I want to seek residential treatment, what do I do with my dogs?

I was recently hospitalized for 5 days in March but all they did was change my medications and discharge me. I haven’t been doing well since the hospitalization. I’ve tried therapy, and seeing my psychiatrist regularly, but I just feel stuck.

I got sick recently and my doctor unknowingly gave me medication that I could use to overdose. Yesterday, I wrote a suicide note and decided to overdose last night. In the end, I chose to seek out residential care as a last ditch effort. It will require a commitment of 30-45 days. I don’t know what to do with my dogs. I don’t have friends or family that can take them. Has anyone gone through this before?

I just found out my brother is a serial cheater. How do I support my sister in law?

I’m going to change some details because my siblings are on reddit.

My sister-in-law called me this morning at an early time (we live in different time zones). She told me that she was on her way to get tested for STIs because of my brother. She told me that out of fairness she would let him share the details, but from what I gathered, he has been lying and cheating on her for YEARS. They have two kids under 3, and one is an infant. I am completely shocked.

Part of the reason this hits me so hard is because of our childhood. My brother is actually my half brother. That’s because our dad cheated on his mom with my mom. What followed was a nasty divorce (I was born a few days after the divorce was finalized). My brother’s mom and our dad fought in court about child support and custody until he was 18. The marriage between my parents inevitably broke down as well.

Having experienced all of this and how traumatic it was for us all, WHY THE FUCK would my brother do this??? I trusted him!! I live across the country and visit them every 3 months. I never noticed anything out of the ordinary. How could he sleep next to her at night knowing what he was doing? WITH AN INFANT?? According to my sister in law, there is a lot I don’t know and she says that he has a dark side and needs to seek treatment.

My family never welcomed my sister in law properly. Besides my brother, I have two sisters, and neither of them even came to the wedding. I was there. My dad left the wedding in the middle of the reception because he was mad that his ex-wife made a speech and he didn’t get to. My little sister never liked our sister in law because she was fake. She wasn’t fake to me. They all treated her poorly, and now my brother has betrayed her in the worst way.

The marriage is over. My sister in law already has lawyers involved. It is going to be another messy divorce in the family, likely with a custody battle. Before we hung up today, my sister in law told me she loved me & that I was always there for her, and she would never keep the kids from me. Given how shitty my family has been towards her, and what a fuck up my brother is, what’s the best way I can support my sister in law and show her I love her?

Lamotrigine changed my life

I was diagnosed Bipolar 2 four years ago after my first hospitalization, but my psychiatrist never took the diagnosis seriously. We cycled through anti-psychotics, and I continued to go through phases of deep depression, periods of stability, and what I now recognize as hypomania. I was recently hospitalized again, and the psychiatrist at the hospital affirmed my Bipolar 2 diagnosis. She prescribed lamotrigine, but as many of you know, it takes a while to titrate up to the therapeutic dose.

I began rapid cycling through these horribly dark depressive episodes where one week I would be fine and the next I was having ideations. I considered going back to the hospital. Finally, I saw a new psychiatrist and we went from 100mg to 200mg to 250mg. Once I got onto 250mg, it was like a switch flipped. I was no longer depressed. The shift happened so quickly, it’s like I have whiplash. This just happened this week, so I’m still taking it in, but I am shook. I feel hopeful.
