The humans before you

In reference to the 10th anniversary stream. This dialogue stuck with me a lot. Especially the emphasis on how some stayed with the woman for a long, long time.

And like. I don’t know. Do I think Kris is the patience SOUL? Probably not. But fuck does it make for a REEEEALLY tragic story.

There’s no real definitive proof that each child made it to Asgore, but I like to believe they did because it really adds so much to Asgore’s character and also this little Kris Patience thing.

I didn’t need to use the six flowers as the humans and they aren’t meant to literally BE the flowers, just parallels. They share the same general appearance/traits but each traversed the underground differently.

Really, I just wanted to illustrate something with this dialogue. There’s just some lines in this game that stick with me, and this is one of them. So much to play with here.

(Chapter 7B) THE OTHER SIDE

I’ve never been more excited for the Weird Route. The bombshell that 7B is gonna be twice as big as chapter 2’s weird route is actually terrifying. And we have progress meters for the ‘area’, whatever it is. With enemies. Bullets. Cutscenes.

So I just wanted to throw my version of “NOWHERE” out there. I believe this is essentially death but not really. They broke the bounds and are free, but I just can’t imagine them being 100% okay/alive after functionally drowning.

I wouldn’t be shocked if Noelle being used up is genuine and Noelle drags Kris from the water and dies. I know that seems underwhelming for all the build up. But I keep thinking of “SHE WAS USED UP, YOU WERE USED UP.”

I tried to interpret it this way. Given that Kris/Noelle functionally “died”, I kinda wanted to imagine the SOUL as this parasite like being that, after Kris is ‘used up’, moves on to Noelle, and after she’s used up, moves to the next, etc. with the goal of ultimate power/choice/freedom.

Does it make a lot of sense? No. Did I think about it a lot? Not really. But I kinda like the idea of the SOUL being this parasite in Kris’ body, and I think Kris ‘drowning’ in 7B is a fun way to explore that.

(Also — I hope people are able to see this is Kriselle and not SOULelle…the SOUL is an invasive parasite here lol)

“Yes, you will be a fossil too, won’t you?”

Kris has like. Every sign pointing to them dying. But none more than this line imo. I like to imagine that if/when they do die, the monsters would give them the same respect they’d give their own, and bury them with their knife.

(*6 left.)

Asgore was given a ton of depth by chapter 5, specifically under the theory (that’s kinda canon? but only through like deleted tweets and old interviews) that Asgore killed all six children. Assuming Aqua fell first, I feel this would have been the hardest one for Asgore to kill.

He’s just declared war, and is filled with rage for his deceased children. He wants blood. He wants someone to answer for the deaths of his children. And the first human to fall is like seven. A sweet and completely naive girl.

And I think seeing this would’ve broken Asgore, and is how he’s able to continue down his path. He slaughtered a young child at the very start, and deemed there was no going back.

Asgore’s just so awesome to me cause like. What’s he meant to do? His people are hopeless, and his declaration of war restored hope. And then the first human he sees is a very small kid, that he promised his people he would kill.

(Also small explanation for the sunset besides just looking cool to me — I’m guessing the lights in Asgore’s garden/the corridor are artificial or magic, made to replicate the Sun, and would kinda have a day/night system.)

Words you couldn’t say

“To finally, say finally, ‘I love you’”

Skies Forever Blue is a really awesome song in general. But with chapter 5 showing how the main characters feel about each other and the heavy focus on love, I can’t help but relate DELTARUNE to it.

Now I was originally gonna do Kris/Noelle since I’m certain if there WERE any intentional parallels, it’d be to them. But this line…I feel it relates so heavily to Kris and what they’re going through.

I wanted to make this a soft chapter 6 concept where they’re likely in the Holiday Manor. If it doesn’t go to shit immediately, I could see Suselle having some cute moments while Kris just watches.

But mostly I just wanted to make Krusie art. Because Kris’ love for Susie is so sweet and tragic.

To break free with you

…This counts as Kriselle right 😭

I like to imagine that after the lake scene and successfully getting out of bounds, while not technically dead, Kris and Noelle become something worse. Something outside of space and time like Gaster, completely losing shape and becoming one with the rest of the ‘real’ world.

In my mind this is Noelle ripping Kris’ SOUL out just before they completely lose form, as a way to ‘thank’ them for ‘freeing’ her from her path.

Not much of a talker

TRANSCRIPT

Joke

*You told a joke about a skeleton with no body to dance with.

*…but he’s heard it before.

“…heh. sure, why not. a classic. but telling the same joke again and again…gets a bit stale, doesn’t it?”

Joke

*You continued the joke, adding that he found somebody when it rained.

*…

*heh, that’s.

*…

Joke

*You joked about the skeleton being spineless. About leaving everyone behind.

*……..

Joke

*You joked about the—

*yeah, NO.

*DEATH*

*RESPAWN*

*ACT button blocked by bones*

*Not much of a talker.

Based on the UNDERTALE Hard Mode thing where we tell Sans what we know about him. I’ve seen a lot of takes where it’s not really in character (at least to me) and I wanted to present my take. I’m worried it’s a little cheap with him just killing you but feel it’s fitting. I don’t think he’d want to give you anything more to chew on, or the satisfaction of seeing what he’ll say.

Anyways…I hope you like this rough concept lol!!

You deserved better

(We could hardly spell each other’s names correctly...)

(…)

(“Noel Hollyday”, “Kris Dreamer”)

(I’ll put those names down, too.)

(I still think they deserved to win…)

The Old Kris

“…Huh?”

“…the old Kris would never protect me…”

“…haha…”

“…You really HAVE changed!!!”

When I saw the small detail that Kris holds Noelle’s head above water near the end, I knew I had to make something with it lol because holy fuck that’s devastating.

Hopefully it’s clear these aren’t REAL Dark World adventures but just how they remember the games they’d play. I feel they were very creative kids.

Kris is a prankster at heart and doesn’t pass up a chance to fuck with Noelle. But when it really matters they do what little they can to keep her head above water.

And Noelle, who had surely convinced herself Kris doesn’t care about her at all due to the time/distance, begins to realize just how much Kris has really changed. Even if it’s not how she thinks.

Everything about this scene and their relationship (even in normal route) is completely devastating.

(Reuploaded because I thought the water looked took much like lava 😭)
