DIY BBQ Heatshield for drop in bbq

Having an absolute ball sorting out a bbq for my alfresco area. As my alfresco area doesn't have enough opening to count as "outdoors", it's counted as quasi outdoors, which means any outdoor classed bbq I get needs to have an interlock device installed with the rangehood AND I would still need to comply with combustible materials around. Sorted out an easier way is to buy the above artusi bbq with a flat lid instead of the hood pictured as it's classed as an INDOOR bbq and doesn't need an interlock. So even if it's classes as indoors, still need to have non-combustible materials around it.

Now the only thing I need is to get a heatshield/ built out a non-combustible compartment for it to sit in, and there is basically zero information guidelines on what it needs to be exactly, unless it's made by the manufacturer. Has anyone done this before?

I'm even confused by the wording, it says must not be install ON, does that mean the benchtop only or all materials around it. So even if I use a heatshield, how would that comply?

Below is what is from the manufacturer:

  • The appliance must not be installed on non-combustible materials. The minimum distance from combustible materials is
  • 1200mm overhead, 200mm sides and 200mm rear.
  • The barbecue requires a non-combustible barrier beneath it to prevent reaching excessive temperatures. The panel that acts as a barrier must be positioned 30/35 mm below the base of the unit.
  • • The installation compartment must be made of non-combustible materials. Materials suitable for its construction include brick, granite, marble, Hardiplank® and Villaboard® on a metal or brick structure.
  • When mounting the appliance against a wall, it is essential to insulate combustible materials. All combustible materials must be kept at least 1200mm overhead, 200mm sides and 200mm rear away from the barbecue.
  • Use of engineered stone (e.g. Cesar stone) as a bench top is permitted providing temperatures upto 120°C are tolerated

Do I need a landing outside this door or can I have it as the angled driveway?

Is there a legal requirement with the dropdown from this laundry door? It's a driveway here so to avoid have a steep driveway this is going to be sloped as per the string line VIC

Fix garage concrete slab edge

Garage floor is one year old and when I moved in the front lip of the concrete had bad efflorescence from what I would believe is a poor concrete sealed surface and water pooling between the slab and the aggregate driveway. I've siliconed the gap but every time it rains the efflorescence still comes up a lot less. I've use some mortar repair patch on a section, just done is in the 5th photo and 6th photo is what it was like before. Should I use the concrete repair patch through the whole rest of the section as it won't be thick enough to have decent adhesion or should I just use a concrete sealer over it all and be done with it. Anyway I can get that whole lip section better looking like grinding with a concrete grinder?

13 year old with IgAN

Started about 2 years ago when my son got really sick 1-2 times he would get brown/red urine. We had initially put it down to UTI along with the GP. Antibiotics didn't seem to do much and when we saw the specialist last year he diagnosed it as IgAN.

He just has the typical symptoms of getting the brown/red urine when he gets sick with a disease that affects his his throat/mucus layers as I believe that is where most of the defective IgA1 is made.

Being so young I can only hope that his disease will either go into remission or have very slow progression. From the studies I've read there aren't any immediate feasible treatments at his age.

I would like to know if anyone from the community has grown up with IgAN and if there is anything I should be doing at his age. At the moment just seems like all I can do is pray and hope for the best.

Many thanks beforehand.

I use the makita 12v on the road for work, I keep the Bosch 12v as backup in the car and have finally gotten into the 12V Milwaukee line up and have to say it looks nice, it feels nice (driver is a bit on the heavy site) and I feel I can take it with me instead of my 18V tools and not worry longer screws won't go in. I am extra impressed by the overall size of the Impact which I would think is brushless (Yes I know it's unfair because the Bosch is not).

Owning these is literally a must have life experience.

This is the edge of the garage. After half a day of rain this appears, seems to have been happening for a while so much the concrete has come apart in areas. Only 1 year old. I'm putting it down to shit concrete? Going to just use some concrete sealer then epoxy once some other work is done.
Never seen something so rapid though so wondering if something else is up

The feed seems to have buffering issues/out of sync and appears to be delayed by a few seconds compared to the YouTube feed. TV is brand new. Android 12. Was working fine the first time but subsequent times just seems like a delay in buffering all the time

I'm the defect followup supervisor and the supervisor that let the renderers off with this job was terminated for basically never being there. Because this section was a deepened edge beam it is pretty much missing the damp proof course and the renderers finished about 15m length of this panel like this at the bottom, wonky and not a straight finish at all. I'm proposing repair grout/mortar against the concrete face then having the renderers finish flush. Downside is that along the whole strip the patching will be very evident, alternatively it's just the slab sticking out of the grount plus a big gap for termites to get in.
