I’ve seen a lot of discourse about what books are accurate or aren’t, which translate poorly, which misconstrue Santa muerte’s history, and a lot of books that are deeply entwined with traditional western ideology. What books would yall recommend that are accurate, establish La santísima’s correspondences, and don’t require you be catholic or Christian to work with SM?
Okay so bare with me, I don’t post to Reddit often but feel the need for community right now. I am a witch and have been exposed to witchy things my whole life. My mom practices but in a way that I don’t agree with and I’ve spent a lot of time trying to unlearn what she taught me, as a lot of it was rooted in outdated ideas. I’m currently going back to the beginning and attempting to strengthen the foundation of my practice and get to know my spiritual identity. What books would yall recommend? Or anything else that helped shaped your connection with your craft? Another part of the reason why I’m going back to basics is I have felt disconnected from it for a few months now. Like I was going through the motions but not really feeling the energy or overanalyzing what I was doing to the point that it felt like make believe. How do you guys deal with this? I want to feel secure in my craft and myself as a witch, but feel called to establish a stronger foundation in order to do so. How do I maintain confidence in myself and my intuition? I’m a very logical person and have a hard time letting things be and i frequently rationalize things instead of believing maybe it is just the universe lending me a message.

I got a free talisman necklace when I ordered some herbs. I chose the talisman of the moon which features the 5th and 6th pentacle of the moon from the key of Solomon.
The options were all talismans of the planets and I figured to choose the moon because I work with ocean and moon magic both.
I’m having a hard time discerning if this is an okay thing to wear? I’m still learning and I don’t want to wear this if it can invite something into my home or rooted in cultural appropriation. I’ve seen a lot of differing interpretations for the talismans and wondered what yall think? I’m not trying to practice Solomon magic I just wanted to further connect with the moon but if this isn’t the way to do so I’ll probably get rid of it.

Hi everyone. I just got a kitten from a coworker three days ago. I already have two female cats, ages 3 and 4. The kitten is 8 weeks old and male. I’ve kept them separated this whole time, except for some incidental interaction through the door which prompted my girls to growl and hiss. I’m doing scent swapping, feeding on opposite sides of the door, trying to maintain everybody’s mood and routine. But my kitten will not calm down. He is always all over me, launching himself at me, clawing me, yelling at me. His behavior is making it hard to feel like I made a good choice in bringing him home, especially when my girls are so hesitant. My coworker said I could foster the kitten for a week to see if the girls get along with him and the deadline is coming up fast. I’m having a hard time making my decision because of a couple things:
1.) the girls are still upset. They’re eating and sleeping normally but you can tell they feel off and nervous to walk by the room the kitten is in.
2.) the kitten is acting like a tiny menace. I understand this is normal behavior but when he’s always at a 10 and bothering me, it’s hard to imagine keeping him if he has no off switch.
3.) I’m overwhelmed and don’t want to make a decision out of emotion. But it hasn’t gotten easier these last few days.
I’m at my wits end and would appreciate any words of advice as far as getting the girls to accept the kitten or getting the kitten to chill out. I need to be thoughtful when deciding to keep him or not and the external factors are making it hard to do so.
