My journey trying to beat every NSO game part 3

This is my third part in my series of trying to beat every NSO game

15 games beaten and reviewed

Super Mario Bros the lost levels .5/5

This might not just be one of the worst mario games ever but also one of the worst platformers I have ever played. Basically an official kaizo mario game just about everything about it is meant to be hard and unfun.

Super Mario Bros 4/5

Most likely everyone has at least played this game even a little. It is the goat. The beginning of an incredible franchise. If you somehow haven't played this yet do yourself a favor and see not the first ever platformer but prob the first to ever do it right.

Densetsu No Starfy 3/5

A fun time, you don't need to know Japanese to play this game but I do wish the NSO app did translate it because it is a cute and fun game.

Densetsu No Starfy 2 3/5

Just like the first one a very fun cute short platformer which you don't need to know Japanese to play. I do wish they translated it on the NSO app

Breath of Fire 4/5

Capcom's first attempt and an RPG game and I think they knocked it out of the park. I loved this game in my childhood and was really glad to see it held up when I played it again as an adult.

The music is amazing, Sara's song is a highlight of mine and I remember it making me cry when I was a kid.

I don't want to get into spoilers for the story because I recommend you play it yourself but while not the most amazing 10/10 story I do really like the story beats but I do agree that it gets a little messy at parts.

The difficulty isn't to hard but you will need to grind at certain parts of the game and of course before the final dungeon of the game.

I will also address the elephant in the room as well. There have been people telling me that what I am doing is pointless and that I should go play "good games". These aren't the only games that I have been playing and I'm doing this for fun not for a video or anything like that but, to play games from my childhood and games that I have never gotten a chance to play or beat 100%. Also I like to talk to people about games and maybe someone is on the fence about playing something and might check it out from a score or something. If you guys want I can stop making the posts as well, I'm not trying to annoying anybody or flood the this place with posts. So let me know what you think about the games or anything really. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk :)

Journey to complete every NSO game part 1

This is my journey to try and beat every NSO game and this is what I think of the games I've played so far. I've beaten more but just haven't written reviews for them just yet.

5 games beaten and reviewed so far

Wario World 3/5

Played this game as a kid and loved it, played it again on NSO and I've noticed some flaws but still liked it.

Flaw 1 Platforming
Wario doesn't control the best while jumping and some of the bonus stages really showcase how bad he controls in the air. So many times I fell off a platform because of how he jumped, luckily in the bonus stages you can just keep trying.

Flaw 2 One of the collectables is useless unless you have a gba adapter
If you collect all the treasure in a level you unlock a demo stage for warioware. If you don't have the gba adapter you can't play these demos which isn't the worst thing since they are the demos that got me into the warioware series. But if your on NSO or were one of the kids back in the day that didn't have a gba adapter.

Flaw 3 Short
This game is super short with worlds with only 2 levels each and one major boss battle per world. While fun for the most part some of the bosses at the end of the levels can be quite annoying but overall fun.

The good
Its fun to swing around enemies
Its fun to piledrive enemies
Love the pause menu music
The music overall is good
Slamming giant enemies hits the unga bunga brain
Wario's gaping mouth eat coins move.

Donkey kong country 5/5

The good

Music- The music is incredible but I don't think you need me to tell you that, from aquatic ambience to gang plank galleon, the soundtrack is just a master class of music. David Wise put his whole heart into this soundtrack and it shows.

Gameplay - Of course the gameplay is simple but smooth. The amount of level variety is off the charts for a game at its time. You go underwater with engarde to the mine carts of the deep dark mines. You might find a level type that you hate, most likely the mine carts but a lot of levels have bonus barrels or even secrets to skip most of the level.

Graphics- The graphics are still to this day looking clean and ffffffine. The backgrounds are beautiful, the enemies unique, the stage design amazing.

Sound effects- Sound effects so good you can hear it in your head when I mention a kremling screaming or donkey kong pounding on his chest.

The weak

Bosses - K Rool excluded most of the bosses are passable at best and you even fight some of them twice. Some of them like the beaver are super easy barely an inconvenience.

That's really the only thing I would consider weak in this game, you could prob find a stage you absolutely hate but with enough tries you will win. If you have never played this game before do yourself a huge favor and play it ASAP.

Earthbound Beginnings 3.5/5

This is an amazing game that I will prob never play again. The amount of grinding and the difficulty of the game is off the charts. Sometimes an enemy will just decide it is your time and boom game over. Encounter rates are high, dungeons not the most interesting but man the story and chars are where it shines.

The music also hits really hard, the eight melodies is such a classic song. The story is still a really good story about loss that still hits today. This game walked so earthbound and mother 3 could run. If you have not played this game I 100% recommend you play through it at least once.

The legend of zelda the minish cap

This game is one of the weaker zelda games but it is in no way bad.

Flaw 1- Difficulty
This is one of the easiest zelda games out there, the puzzles, bosses, enemies, all of it fairly easy which isn't a huge problem and still has some fun.

Flaw 2 the medallions
I like them as a concept but man almost everything is reliant on these. Need to find a heart piece? Prob missed someone to match with. Need to open a secret? Gotta find someone you need to match with. Alone with the possibility for needing the grind for them if you are unlucky with drops. I don't hate it but thought it could be implemented better.

Flaw 3 dungeons
The dungeons are alright in this game but nothing super special. The puzzles are pretty easy along with the bosses who are mostly just giant versions of enemies. Also there are only 4 dungeons in the game not counting the final one. I wish we could have gotten our usual 8.

The good 1 graphics
The art style is amazing and expressive. I love the design of the minish. Its very cute.

The good 2 main villain
I love vaati, he has a really good design and I love his final boss battle.

Kirby's Adventure 4/5

One of the first video games I've ever played and my first ever kirby game. I love this game but I do acknowledge some of its flaws. The lag is the thing that is most talked about in this game and yes it can get really bad at certain parts.

This is the game that first introduced the copy ability and its one of the greatest ideas in gaming. The game is fairly easy depending on what your doing with your run. If your doing no copy ability then it might be a little harder but not by much.

This game is also amazing because it actually gives you a 100% reward which was unheard of for the time. Secret switches in some levels, mini games, good music. This is the whole package for your nes or NSO app.

The mini games I find very enjoyable. The claw machine is fun but a bit luck based if your going for fat boy. Quick draw is a classic that shows back up in superstar. Egg catch is really hard to get a perfect score but you feel so good when it happens.

The surprise twist for the final boss was really surprising for its time and the battle itself has great music and a great design.

What is life?

What is life when all you feel is a bed

What is life how many wishes to be dead

What is life when all hope is lost

What is life how much does your worth cost

What is life when you are all alone

What is life can you really atone

What is life when all you do is make people worse

What is life can you rid yourself of this curse

What is life when your soul is gone

What is life how can, when what is off will never be on

I'm thinking of in the future trying to beat every NSO game that the service has to offer.

Maybe write reviews of all the games or a tier list or something. Maybe even do videos on all of them idk its just a thought I've had. Has anyone here beaten all the NSO games so far?

Watched scary movie 6 today

I really enjoyed it, it may not be for everyone but if you enjoyed the older scary movies its a high chance you will like this too. Honestly I thought it had a better Ghostface and kills then scream 6 which I thought was an awful movie.

For anyone with a big backlog, try a wheel

I've put all the games in my backlog and some games I want to buy in a wheel and I spin it to see what my next game is gonna be. Its helped me stick with games all the way through to the end and its helping me finish some games in my backlog that I've had for awhile. Everytime I finish one I spin the wheel.

Just signed up for unlimited for the first time.

There is a ton of movies I want to watch in the next coming months so it made sense cost wise to just sign up for unlimited. Saw mando and grogu today, while not the best star wars movie ever I think overall it was a fun movie. Tomorrow I might go see scary movie 6, maybe post my thoughts about that on here too.

Playing through wario world on NSO. Haven't played it since I was a child and I still love it.

Love the music and slamming enemies down onto the floor. Love wario's dumb song when you pause the game. This game also got me into warioware when I was a kid since you can unlock demos in the game if you had the gba adapter. I know we have warioware on the gba emulator but I do wish they would still let you play the demos in game.

Any creative workshops for writers?

I am a local writer looking to see if there are any creative workshops or any meetups for other writers. It would be a way to help me and others write more and get in the groove. It could even be a place to share your writings maybe go up on a stage and read what you wrote and other people help you fine tune it or just so you can hear it aloud.
