Sci-Fi Cargo Crates

One thing I've noticed while building sci-fi environments is how quickly repeated props become noticeable.

To experiment with that, I created a second set of cargo crates, focusing on adding shape variation and modularity rather than simply increasing the prop count.

The goal was to make it easier to populate industrial areas, cargo bays, and space stations without every corner looking identical.

For those of you building environment asset libraries:

Do you prefer creating a few highly detailed props, or a larger collection of modular assets that can be mixed together?

I'd love to hear how other environment artists approach this.

Sci-fi props

I've been trying to build a library of reusable sci-fi props for environment projects, and storage containers seemed like a good place to start.

The challenge was finding a balance between keeping the assets lightweight enough for real-time use while still giving them enough variation to avoid repetition across a scene.

I'm curious how you approach this problem in your own projects.

Do you prefer:

• More unique assets with higher production time?

• Or a smaller modular set that can be reused in different ways?

Would love to hear other artists' thoughts on it.

Sci-fi Storage Containers

I've been working on a set of storage container props for a larger sci-fi environment project.

The idea was to create assets that could be reused across different locations without making the scenes feel repetitive.

Still refining the presentation, but I'd love to hear any feedback on the overall design direction.

Sci-Fi Barrel Props — Real-Time Environment Assets

Been experimenting with some modular sci-fi barrel designs for environment art practice.

Focused mostly on keeping the shapes readable from a distance while still having enough surface detail for close-up renders.

Still tweaking a few things, but curious what you guys think so far.

Sci-fi crate props

Made a small collection of sci-fi crate props for a game environment project.

Tried to balance low poly optimization with enough detail for close-up shots and modular scene building.

Would love to hear your feedback 👀
