Noticed this mounted on the southbound side of Orient Way in Lyndhurst just south of Route 3 by the Colonial Diner. Google Image search claims it is a plate reader. Wonder who owns it and what they're looking for.
And all I can say is, you come from tough stock! I will never complain about the hotel breakfast buffet again.
Curious if this is required or encouraged reading or at least a staple, I put it very much on a par with Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath in terms of understanding a culture in a particular place and time. Wondering what other novels you would consider iconic or illustrative of a period in Icelandic society.

I am so old that I remember when there was a Friendly’s in Willowbrook Mall.
I grew up going there as well as Cedar Grove (now a bank), Morris Plains (demolished) and Madison (still a busy Friendly’s). The one jn Bloomfield was just demolished to make room for Taco Bell.
