About shipping

I have been asked if Charisk/Cocoapowder stuff is allowed here. The answer is yes. I know I have expressed public dislike over these pairings, thus I understand why people felt the need to ask. So I apologize if I made any shippers of these pairings feel unwelcomed, you are welcome here. As long as your ship, or the content you post involving your ship does not break the rules, the personal preferences of the mods don't matter.

and while we are here, I will outline some things:

The only ships/types of ships that are banned here are incestous pairings and pedophilic/age up ships.

Examples of what is considered incest here: Pairings that contain biological, adoptive or step family members. Once they can be considered family, don't post it here.

For example: Chara x Asriel content (No exceptions. No I do not care if in your au/headcanon/interpertation they are not siblings. Chara and Asriel's relationship, while somewhat vauge in certain aspects, teeters too far into sibling teritory for it to be acceptable to depict them romantically. Though content depicting Chara and Asriel as just friends or as roomates or not family is allowed as long as they're not being shipped together romantically.)

certain depictions of Charisk (No, I am not saying Charisk is an incestous pairing by default, but there are many aus/interpertations that depict them as siblings or some kind of family. Charisk is allowed here, as long they are not being depicted as family either in the au they are coming from or in the content itself. For example, Xtale Charisk isn't allowed here because in the source material they are siblings, regardless if the person who made the shipping content considers them siblings or not.)

ect ect.

Examples of what is considered age up/Pedophilic ships: Pairings that contain a character under the age of 18 being paired with a character who is 18 or over and requires a party to be aged up or down in order to be acceptable and ships that pair minors with significant age gaps with one another.

Basically, don't ship them with any adult member of the undertale or deltarune cast. Exceptions may be given, but only for aus that make significant changes and only on a case by case basis. (What I mean by this is basically, don't have the au be "undertale, but Chara is an adult specifically so I can ship them with [insert adult character here]." the au must have more significant changes than just that before any au with a ship of that nature can be eligable for aproval here.) If you have an au that contains an adult Chara (or any other character) x a character who is originally/canonically an adult that you wish to post here, please send us a mod mail explaining the au and the context and we will review it to see if this specific instance of it is acceptable. (again, this is on a case by case basis. Just because it was aproved for a certain au dosen't mean it was aproved for all of them. You will need to get aproval for each au that you want to post that has stuff like this.)

Now, for what is allowed:

-Cocoapowder

-Charisk (only if Frisk isn't chara's sibling, isn't adopted by Toriel and isn't related to Chara in any familial way whatsoever.)

-Chara x Chara or Characest

-Chara x OC

-Chara x monster kid

-Chara x whoever you want as long as you follow the rules

As long as you follow the rules you can ship whatever and depict it however you want. Even toxic/abusive dynamics are allowed to be depicted, just don't glorify abuse or toxicity or post things glorifying it. (also, depending on the severity, please flair your post acordingly and provide warnings.)

If there are still questions about shipping or anything else about what is/isn't allowed here or anything at all really, feel free to ask.

I genuinely can not stand how some of this fandom can not handle when people interpret things different from the majority.

This is a thing I have noticed. You use the exact same data they have, the exact same information with the only difference being in how you interpret it and what assumtions you make as a result of that info, but because your preception is different from the majority you get treated like an idiot. That because you see things differently from most that means you are "media illiterate" or "making things up". I thought disscussions were supposed to be for discussing? Not traping yourself in an echo chamber of the same opinions by refusing to see the other side. Of course, I am not saying everyone must agree with each other but at the very least they can be more understanding as to how the person they disagree with came to that conclusion and not entirely dismiss it just because it dosen't fit into their own perception.

For example, sometime ago on my old account I made the mistake of expressing the idea that Asriel really wasn't the greatest person, even before becoming flowey on a main sub...bad mistake. Like three different people were coming after me to insist I was wrong, that Asriel is "totally sooo innocent" That he was defintely 100% sane before becoming a flower and all other host of defenses. Now, I have no issues with people not agreeing with me, infact I was expecting disagreement. But the fact that my argument, that was using the same canon information as foundation as their argument, was treated as invalid and as a bad reading of the character just because it is different is genuinely infuriating.

Some of these people didn't even bother hearing me out. I ended each of my points saying that just because we don't agree dosen't mean that either of us are necesscerily wrong, we just interpreted the same information differently. None of them showed me the same level of understanding or grace. They just kept treating me like I didn't know what I was talking about. Then people wonder why there's not much intresting new takes on the characters out there. If you stamp out every deviation, how can you expect anything else aside from conformity?

Introducing: SS!Mafiatale Chara!

Here is the finished drawing, it was fun to work on their design (though i went a little too dark on the eyes with the shading...ill correct it next time i draw them i suppose) but, enough of that. Now to talk about the au:

Basically it's Undertale, but instead of a normal war between humans and monsters here was a massive gang war between the human and monster mafias. The humans beat out the monsters so badly they were forced to retreat into the shadows and its also taking place in like the 1920s or 30s or somthing like that, around that time period.

Chara was severly mistreated by their human caretakers, a particularly harsh instance of abuse caused them to run away into enemy territory. Hoping to be killed so they wouldn't have to live like they were anymore. They were spotted almost immediately. They were captured and brought to the mafia don asgore, where they were supposed to executed and made and example of...but Asgore couldn't do it. He puts up the front of a hardened criminal (which he is at times) but he couldn't bring himself to murder an innocent child for the sins of their forefathers, so he took them in as his own.

From then, they were raised along side Asriel under the Dreemurr name. They were made to fight, to learn how to use weapons, how to lead operations and how to execute orders. They grew up under strict decipline and in a harsh, cutthroat environment but they were loved.

Now, currently they are 33 years old (As depicted in the drawing) they are basically the one in control of everything, as Asgore and Toriel are preparing to retire and Asriel has no interest in doing his job as the true heir. But Chara doesn't mind. They see this work as their purpose in life, that if their not managing, comanding, threatening...that their wasting time and resources being alive. (Which obviously isn't true, but Chara dosen't value themself much)

Chara struggles with their gender identity here, as well as some pretty bad dysphoria. Due to a lack of exposure around the topic, Chara dosen't know what they want to identify as. They know they would rather not be a man, the idea of being a woman sounds more apealing, but is ultimately not the right fit either. They can't go public with these feelings as its the 1900s queer people weren't looked upon too fondly (especially not in organized crime spaces). And if they did, they would most likely be made a target. (It was hard enough to earn respect as a human much less one who is shorter and scrawnier than all their peers, they would rather not have to fight for respect again). So as a result, they present as male to the public, and uses it/its pronouns in private (they haven't discovered the singular "they" as yet, when they do they'll use that too) essentially only Asriel knows about Chara’s it/its pronoun usage, not even Asgore or Toriel know.

The way Chara dresses factors into this as well, the outfit they are wearing in the drawing is something they only wear on their own property. In public they wear a full pinstriped suit and a hat so that they can hide their long hair. (The fur coat stays though)

Speaking of the fur coat, Funfact: it's made out of the pelt of a monster. This monster in particular betrayed the family and Chara found out. They degloved him with their own hands and wears his pelt as some kind of sick trophy. The guy they skinned is kept alive in the lower levels of the property being tended to by medical staff around the clock so that he dosen’t die and cause Chara’s coat to dust. (The rest of the family is rather...disturbed by the coat's existence and the fact that Chara wears it everywhere, non family members are pretty much terrified of them for the most part, it turns out wearing monster flesh discourages people from messing with you)

Their pretty sadistic, ruthless and more than a little off their rocker, they show these traits most often to those who have wronged them or if they are interrogating a rival gang member. They show no mercy to those who disobey their orders (unless that person is a woman, or Asriel. Their a bit sexist, its the 1900s after all). Though generally they are overly polite, formal and calm to an eerie degree.

They care for their family in their own weird way and will do anything to secure their peace...Even if they do joke about skining Asriel from time to time. Much to his displeasure. (They would never actually do that to him though.)

Thats about all I've written for them so far, feel free to ask any questions you may have about this Chara or the AU in general.

What opinion do you have about Chara that will have you like this?

I'll start: I think Chara is AMAB and is masculine presenting (yeah, thats right I think they prefer to wear masc clothing) and you can pry that head canon from my cold dead hands.

Greetings, I your humble founding mod has returned.

As you all know by now, my main account was randomly, inexplicably nuked off of the face of this earth. I have been trying for the past 2 weeks to have my account returned to me, with no such luck. Therefore, I have conceded in making a new account. Thank you for your patience, I hope you all did not miss me too terribly ;)
