Is there any open source project i can contribute to

I am embedded systems engineering student, interested in compilers, system programming with c/c++ and rust, and good enough with asm. Is there any recommendations for an open source running project i can contribute to without being an expert.

From where do AI LLMs get their data about es job market

I know AI models can get wrong answers sometimes, but how every time I ask for its opinion about embedded systems it replies with extreme optimism while most posts and blogs speak loudly about mass layoffs and declining market

Is it realistic to land a remote Quant/HFT role or relocate straight out of undergrad as an EE major with zero local market?

Hey everyone,

I’m an Electrical Engineering undergrad looking to break into the Quant Developer track. I have a strong math foundation and am self-studying modern C++, ML, and Deep Learning.

My home country has a completely non-existent quant market (no HFTs, prop shops, or systematic funds). My only options upon graduation are immediate relocation or landing a global remote role.

As a fresh graduate with zero institutional finance experience, I need a realistic sanity check:

  1. Visa Sponsorship for Juniors: Do top-tier firms in major hubs (London, Amsterdam) routinely sponsor international fresh grads who pass the technical bar, or do they stick strictly to local target universities for entry-level roles?
  2. Global Remote Viability: I know traditional funds mandate on-site presence, but what about crypto prop shops or market makers? Do they hire remote entry-level developers globally, or is that market strictly reserved for seniors?

Appreciate any brutal honesty or advice on how to navigate this bottleneck.

As an engineering student, how can I get into finance

Hi everyone,

I'm an electrical engineering student with little to no formal background in finance or investing. I tried trading stocks once and made decent money, but I know it was mostly luck, so I pulled everything out rather than push it further.

Every time I try to learn the basics, I run into scammy "get rich" tutorials or blogs that throw too many options at me with no real guidance. Ironically, I find finance more interesting than my actual major at this point.

A few questions for people with experience:

  1. Which areas of finance are the most math-heavy? I'm strong in calculus, statistics, probability, and linear algebra, and I've noticed a lot of people struggle with the math side — so I think this could be an edge for me.
  2. What areas of finance can realistically be done independently — remote work, freelancing, or trading/investing on my own — rather than being locked into a traditional corporate job?
  3. Since I have a tech background, I feel like I have a decent instinct for evaluating tech companies — spotting which technologies are legit versus hype/vaporware. Is there a finance path that lets me actually use that kind of domain knowledge?

Appreciate any honest pointers, especially resources that aren't just disguised trading courses.

Does increasing Percentage Drop will Throughput decrease or stay flat, Send and Wait protocol

I have a project to simulate Send and Wait protocol and being asked if Percentage Drop inverse propotional with Throughput, from my logic it should decrease but when I test it I find it almost constant and varying only by 1b/s, should it be constant or i have problem in my code
