Baby white wizard

Baby white wizard

I just wanted to share my first snail baby. Can't get over how cute it is! I believe it was born mid-May, not long after I received my white wizard snails. I have been providing them with spirulina, calcium blocks and snowflake pellets – but I was wondering if there is anything else I can use to support health and growth? Also, are the tentacles indicative of gender at this age? I know that females will have two straight tentacles and the males will have one curled, one straight. Can this baby be confirmed as a female? Or is it too early to say?

Um, what are those, please?!

Noticed a couple of these tiny insect-like things crawling on my white wizard? Do I need to do something here?

This betta arrived in really poor condition (I thought she was dead)

What I received was not even the betta that was pictured in the listing, but that is another issue. For those entertaining the idea: I do not recommend ordering from Thailand Betta Fish.

When the fish arrived, I opened the box to discover her bag had leaked and she was basically sandwiched between two bits of wet plastic. I was shocked and upset, and in all honesty, I thought she was dead. She wasn't moving, but she still had some colour so I decided to float her on an anubias plant attached to a piece of driftwood fixed at the surface of the water. She slowly revived.

Her fins are in poor shape and I am hoping they will heal in time with clean water. She is currently in a 55 litre tank with a heater and filter, and she is eating well.

I just wanted to check if the dark spots (dorsal fin, freckle on her body, head, etc) are a concern or whether this is just the marbling gene at play?

Am I the only one with a wet cough?

I am currently investigating this chronic wet cough I've been having since I was ill in December 2024. I have had three rounds of antibiotics as my GP thought it could be bronchitis after testing positive for Haemophilus influenzae in a sputum test. However, I am still symptomatic after a clear follow-up sputum test and feel like I sound like a smoker when I cough.

Following up with a second GP at the same surgery, I explained that it was just before my illness that I also noticed I was experiencing regular heartburn. He prescribed me a PPI, which has helped a little with the mucus – I no longer crackle when I breathe laying down and I'm clear when I wake up in the mornings – but the phlegm starts as soon as I eat or drink, and then the wet cough follows.

I have also had chronic rhinitis since 2020, after my son was born. I was told it was due to allergies, so I kind of just dismissed it. Now I'm wondering if this is all part of the bigger picture.

My symptoms are:

- chronic wet cough/laugh, especially after eating

- chronic rhinitis and dry congestion in my nose

- occasional sinus pain

- occasional stabbing pain in my left ear

- GERD that seems better controlled with PPI and awareness around food

- less commonly, a hoarse voice

What I don't understand: if silent refluxers produce so much phlegm, why am I the only one who seems to have a wet cough?

Symptoms described as part of LPR and other posts on here suggest it's a dry and tickly cough, which makes me worry about having something else. I used to think it came from my lungs (that's what worried me the most) but I recently found drinking tea will momentarily clear the phlegm...so it must truly be oesophageal mucus? The GP also said it's sometimes difficult to tell when listening with a stethoscope if it's coming from the upper lungs or oesophagus. I'll be having another appointment with him in the next few weeks where I will likely ask for a referral to see a specialist to confirm.

Does anyone else experience something similar to this wet cough?

As the title says, I was hoping someone could guide me in where to trim this deutzia stem I propagated (last year) in order to create bushier shrub-like growth. This is my first time propagating an outdoor plant so it's exciting to see it already putting out buds!
