Bugatti Chiron(2), Ferrari Testarossa(2), Lamborghini Diablo SV(2), Porsche Carrera RS 2.7, Porsche Speedster, Ford GTX1, Lamborghini SVJ.

And for any other camera nerds in here, it’s a Nikon FM2n with a 50mm f/1.4 on it, shot on Kodak Gold 400.

Flange-cut Window Replacement

Hey all, my house needs new windows.

One install option is to remove the siding, replace the full unit including the nail flange, and replace siding/add trim.

The other is to cut the frame out, cut the flange, leave the siding intact, and put the new unit in its place. Then caulk in.

The house has no window trim at the moment, and for cost reasons I’m leaning forward option 2.

Am I making a mistake? I live in the Pacific Northwest. House has cedar siding. Painted in 2024. Old windows are aluminum framed. New are Andersen 100 series.

Thanks!

Water Heater Replacement

Hey all, I’m remodeling a house from the 1980s. It’s water heater o’clock, and I’m trying to decide what to get.

We live in western Oregon (greater Portland Oregon area) and it seems that a Heat Pump Water Heater like the Rheem ProTerra Hybrid Electric might be the way to go. I’m searching for confirmation or suggestions for what’s better.

Installation specifics:
\*electric only
\*installed in garage (insulated but from the 1980s)
\*40ft from current WH location, so considering recirculator
\*I am a “buy once cry once” type of person
\*eventually we will move to solar
\*getting power to the unit isn’t a problem

What do you all think? HPWH is the way to go, or nah?

What’d I see here?

A Ferrari almost certainly. Looks like an Enzo front end but it seems a bit too sharp of an angle, unless I’m mis-remembering.
