U Shaped Air Conditioner - Beware
I repurchased two Mideas u shaped air conditioner after the recall last year thinking they would be more apt to resolve the drainage issues that caused mold to grow in the air conditioner. But I was wrong.
They changed the plugs and drains but the air conditioner still doesn’t drain properly. When I installed the first one, I didn’t take a white piece out of the plug and after two weeks the water backup up and created a clear goo. I contacted customer support and they told me the goo was normal and to clean the air conditioner and it would be fine. I took that air conditioner out and put in my second unopened one. I took the white piece out of the plug and monitored the drip from the plug. It started out draining properly but again after two weeks, it formed a clear goo and blocked the plug from draining. I took the plug out and water and goo poured out of it.
I knew it wasn’t draining properly because the past few nights my sinuses have been stuffed and I have been coughing up phlegm. Be careful with this unit.
